The optometrist and optical staff at this location are fantastic! I was promptly seen at my specified apt time with no wait. The optometrist was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. Best eye exam I've ever had. I have a difficult prescription and the doctor took his time to make sure my contacts and glasses prescription was perfect! The optical staff was just as helpful. They also made sure to recommend frames and lenses that would minimize the thickness which has always been an issue for me. Efrona helped me to pick the perfect frames from their extensive selection and I love them! Would absolutely recommend this optometrist and the staff to anyone that wants a great experience! read more

This eye and optical Lenses store is not your average store. All employees go above and beyond their call of duty. Calling a patient to see how they're doing to even downloading YouTube videos to teach a patient how to put on contact lenses. After searching for a place to buy a pair of prescription eyeglasses at a reasonable price and that could be available in a day or two, I went to the Aventura Mall location of Optical World. Despite claims on their website that you only pay for the frames you select and there is no extra charge for the prescription lenses, the store told me that basic lenses would be an additional $299.00 (and the least expensive frames were $159). I asked about the website statement about the lenses being included in the price of the frames and they said "that only applies to glasses bought through the website - and that is a separate business." There was nothing obvious on the website to indicate that it was an online - only business. In fact, the website had the option for you to "find a store" - that added to the misleading nature of the advertising. Moreover, I had spoken with Optical World on the phone the day before to confirm that my prescription had been received at the Aventura Mall store from my opthamologist and that glasses could be made promptly (I had just had eye surgery at Bascom Palmer and needed glasses). They never mentioned that they were a separate business from their own website (I found them through their website - as I am guessing most customers do). I had gone to the trouble of visiting this store instead of Costco or any other eyeglass maker because I needed glasses promptly and was hoping for something affordable since I only needed them during recovery from eye surgery. I was very disappointed in the misleading advertising by Optical World. And the store clerk made no effort to apologize for the misleading (bait-and-switch style) advertising. A quick update of my research revealed a Pearle Vision location in Aventura. I left Optical World and went to Pearle Vision. The staff at Pearle Vision were very professional, kind, and helped me quickly find a perfectly good pair of glasses, lenses included, for $209 - ready in one business day. I will never give my business to Optical World - misleading advertising is unfair. read more

I have been a customer of Optical World for more than 20 years. Both the Drs. Edelsbergs are thorough and kind doctors and conduct tests as extensive as my ophthalmologist. In fact they are the ones that suggested I see an ophthalmologist because of borderline glaucoma. Their inventory of frames is as extensive as any place I have seen. Their employees are excellent at recommending glasses that are fashionable as well as affordable. Their service is 5 star and you are treated respectfully and expediently. I would never consider venturing to any other optical store. read more

I was on vacation and i invertently stepped on my glass and broke them. I went to Optical World with my glasses in hand knowing i had a five hour drive in front of me to get home.They came to my rescue and repaired my glasses in less than 15 min. The charge was 4 dollars are you kidding me!!!!! I could not believe it.In this day and age to find a business that is completely honest and forthright is amazing. Wow, I finally hit the jack pot in the optometrist/eye service category. After calling all around and looking here and there, I discovered this place! The only optical store willing to fit new lenses into my old frames. They even tightened up my old frames, straightened out the warp from years of removing them with only one hand ( my fault,of course), and replaced the old worn out nose bridge pads- all for free. They even cleaned the frames up so they now look like they are brand new. I had the pleasure of interacting with Odette. I must say that she is very professional, competent, highly helpful, and so knowledgeable. She answered all my questions like a seasoned pro! Not only did I save money on the frames, but my insurance (eyemed) covered 64% of the total bill! Odette was so instrumental in assisting me to determine which type of prescription lenses would best ensure the future health of my eyes, taking the time to decipher and explain an eyeglass prescription that I could not understand. She even packed my old lenses in a cushioned, scratch-proof pouch holder, just in case I ever need them. My new prescription is only slightly stronger than the old, so having the old ones for back-up works well. Kudos to Odette and the eye lab technician at Optical World in Aventura Mall; all in all, I could not be more satisfied with the super service!!! I do not hesitate to highly recommend this place to my fellow yelpers. Thanks a million. P.S.- I spent $180 out-of-pocket, total bill $500, insurance picked up $320. read more

Depsite advertising as a participating provider with VSP, they do not know how to process the claims for glasses made in their office. I was told by my sales person that VSP only allows them to have lenses fabricated by a lab in Tampa and that if I wanted my glasses on the same day that I would have to pay for them and then file a claim with VSP. $459 dollars later, I attempt to file my claim with VSP and I am told that Optical World is an in-network provider and should be billing VSP directly. VSP reached out to this provider to re-educate them on how to properly bill members and the manager (Efrona) was adamant that she would not bill VSP and that members will need to pay in full up front if they want glasses made in office. I called and spoke with Efrona myself and she was completely not interested in following the guidelines established by VSP. Hopefully they lose the contract with the payer. Do yourself a favor and find a provider that knows how to process claims and will not take your money unneccesarily. read more

Omg...so many negative experiences and I thought i was the only one. So i went to the Aventura, Fl store on 8/26 to buy contacts because i was leaving on vacation the next day and for my surprise they told me i had to do my exam because the last one i had was on 2013 and i was in shock thinking it wasn't that long since the last time i went there...so i left so disappointed without any contacts to my trip. I came back and called to make an appointment to get my exam done and get some contacts, while talking to my mom and telling her everything she goes...didn't you go with me not even a year ago? sure enough, i called back and i had my exam 10 months ago but they claim it was for frames and not contacts...i was never told there are two different exams and i was never asked which one i need done that day, they did everything and then i told them i was buying some frames because at that time i still had contacts left. I am so mad, horrible customer service, no information is given, every time i go i see a different "doctor" what the heck. I'm so done with them....horrible place, i have no relationship with the doctor what so ever because there is always a different one and they make no effort in speaking to you either, all they care about is money. I walked into this shop today 8/19/13 around Noon after having my eyes dilated from an exam from sears optical. I wanted a more upscale selection in eyewear than sears could offer. There were three ladies working in the front and I asked them if they take Cigna insurance. They were not sure but told me that they think they take the vision policy not the medical. I told them that I wasn't sure which policy I had and could they call my insurance company for me since my eyes were dilated. The blonde with curly hair told me "No". I left feeling very upset with the quality of service and respect that was given to me. All three of those ladies need an intense refresher course in customer service. I came home checked my insurance policy and verified that this company does in fact take my vision policy. I wanted an upscale experience in buying my first pair of prescription glasses and all I received was deplorable service. I will never visit this establishment and will advise anyone wanting eyewear not to visit this location. I have worked for 11 years in this mall in an upscale store and I refer many of my clients to multiple stores within the mall. This place will not be one of them.......FYI.....I went to Pearl Vision later in the day in Aventura where the sales associate named Jose greeted me and helped me and my partner select eye ware. He even volunteered to call my insurance company!!!! We were treated with respect and because my insurance didn't cover very much ( we didn't even use it) they offered us a discount promotion that was in store.....we left spending $1300 on two prescription glasses. My advise for anyone wanting an upscale service in Aventura is to head to Pearl Vision on Biscayne near the Fresh Market and ask for Jose! read more
