You can get a nice walk in with the looping combo of paved trail and boardwalk/bridges. There are a few shelters and trees around to help with the sun a bit. On the far end is a playground, with a very nice large shelterhouse with picnic tables. The playground is a lot of wood, metal, and climbing nets, and has sections for ages 2-5 and 5-12. By far the biggest draw appeared to be the very tall, fast slide, accessible via climbing net. There are benches available, and play shades available in one section. A nice sized parking lot is available too.

Huge space to roam, hike, see natural habitats and also let the kiddos climb, slide and swing, etc. -- I did not see restrooms. But didn't get to see all the trails. The paths are mostly gravel and natural elements with a touch of modern engineering here and there. Covered shelter picnic area available. (See pics) Cannot see park from the parking lot. So littles with necessary diaper changes and meltdowns may pose a difficult space to take a break in the car. Parking is a trek from the actual playground. Plan accordingly.

The welcome center was pretty nice and had a small kids museum inside that was interactive. There's also a gift shop with cute merch, local items, maple syrup, and other extras. They offer tours of some of the buildings for purchase, which is a cool option if you want a deeper experience, but even just walking around the property on your own is enjoyable. Overall, a really nice place to explore for a bit.

We also didn't see anyone to give tours or ask information. The park is easy to find with lots of signs pointing the way. When you pull in there is a visitor center that has a gift shop and restrooms. Everyone's favorite part was the parrot. If you say hi or dance he will talk to you. The park has trails you can hike. There are maps in the lobby to help find a course. They mentioned a cave trail but the map did not have trail names so we were not sure what path to follow. You can walk down to the barn and see the animals. We also walked around the exterior of the house. Behind the visitor center there is a great playground that the kids really enjoyed. If coming for a visit I highly recommend waiting to come during the peak season so you can view the house and have staff to explain the history and trails you can hike. Lots of picnic areas too so pack a lunch!

You can access it via the street - though it's called Highgate, Highgate Ave actually turns into Masefield right around the section where you can find the entrance to the playground and trail access (it's labeled as Olentangy Bike Trail, HIghgate Entrance" on the signage). There's street parking available. The playground is very nice! It is good sized. There are swings (traditional and baby), a play area for little kids, and a play area for bigger kids. There's a fun little garden with a tiny walking path, and a large rock that's good for climbing and jumping. The spinny toy here works really well and kids who are big enough can do it themselves. There's a very interesting 'arch' like structure that it like an upside down see saw, as a kid can sit on each end. It also has hand holds that let them use it kind of like monkey bars or just hang. There are multiple slides, monkey bars, and lots of climbing structures. There is good shade around several benches and picnic tables nearby.

Street parking in a neighborhood; you can see the playground from the street, at the entrance marked "Highgate Park, Olentangy Trail." Two play areas, for different ages. One big one for older kids, a smaller one for tots. Plus other scattered play gear- spinning wheel, climbing rock, swings, etc. Plenty of benches around the edges. Trails for running/biking encircle it. Baby K had a blast. Wood chips on the ground, so fairly soft. Lots of shade. A great place for the neighborhood, a bit out of my way but we'll remember it if we're nearby.
