So far the only choice in Greenville. Metro net is setting new line so hopefully more area will get another choice. My internet was spotty for the first 4 months. Every 6 hours it will stop for some reason. All the online troubleshooting didn't help either. I think once metro net was open for new customer, my internet connection got better for some reason My coworkers and friends have similar bad experience from Optimum I got pretty good in store service though and from the technician that do the setup. read more

Ive been trying to get reimbursed for a damaged ceiling due to an optimum repairman stepping through my ceiling. incident occurred 7/08/2025. I have called and called trying to get the help I was promised by a supervisor on the day the incident occurred! As far as the service from Optimum, I am very satisfied. Had one problem and the service man was out the next day and wifi was working. My problem is with the prepaid mastercard that is offered by optimum as a gift. I filled out paperwork as requested and have waiting since February 2024 for it to arrive. I have called many times and it seems I get a difference answer each time. Now, my 90 day window has expired and all they tell me it was mailed. According to some reviews, this a common problem. $50 is not that much, it's the principal of the thing. read more

The service for cable was consistently unreliable. My 89 year old mother had to keep calling and asking someone to fix her service. They would come out, 'fix it', and then within the next day or two the problem was right back. The picture would freeze, blip, cut out. Optimum never credited her bill though. Also, she could never get a human on the phone to help her so every time she had a problem she, my 89 year old mom, had to drive to their office. The icing on the cake is they billed my dead mother for service because you can't cancel service once the billing period has begun. This is absolute corporate greed. So basically, if you die, plan on giving Optimum money from your estate to pay your cable bill after you died. read more

We are using their Optimum cell service and it stinks! Calls drop all the time in our home , while driving. My phone seems somewhat better than my husband's. His is terrible. Unable to answer calls. After a sales call trying to get me to add a cell phone service with Optimum which I said No to, they started charging me for a cell phone line that I never agreed to. Optimum now says INternet/home phone are separate from Optimum cell but they are both on one account. Spent 40 minutes with Optimum internet and they couldn't help me and transfered me to the Cell phone Optimum and they said they couldn't help me so now I am back on the phone with Optimum internet where the charges are showing up on my bill and waiting for supervisor from Optimum Cell to call back. William, one of the associates in the Greenville Office, assisted me. Throughout my experience, I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Additionally, William provided me with a receipt and (overall) did an OUTSTANDING job in completing my request. I've had several negative experiences with Suddenlink through the years, so I am thrilled to see that this company is finally working to provide its customers with a better experience; hopefully it's not too late for Suddenlink and for dedicated employees like William. They give you used equipment. They advertise 1 Gig speed but freely admit that the lines and equipment can't handle that speed. A tech installing my equipment admitted I would only get about 400 mbs. The on-demand choices are miniscule and the interface looks like a software program written in the 1990's. It is terrible to use. Common channels are not available in HD. The price is wat too high for what you get. I've had Xfinity and Charter in the past. Both were far superior. Thankfully, Metronet fiber optic is available now. It is working well (so far) along with my streaming services. read more

Phone sales department representatives are deceitful and only want to upsell. Phone Technical support team are unhelpful and mostly I knowledgeable. Field technical support are sub contracted and only want to charge the customer for home visits. They also provide used and damaged equipment then blame Suddenlink. The Customer is left holding the bag without any relief. The FCC or other oversight agencies need to step in. Cost of the service is extremely high compared to other markets for lower Perforamnce quality of service. Shame on Suddenlink and it's employees. read more

On or about 03 / 05 2024. Optimum appears to have remotely changed either my router Network Name and/ or password. As a result. my backyard security camera went offline. This. according to my Alarm Company. report to me on 03/ 06/ 2024. On or about 03/ 18/ 2024 my doorbell camera also went offline. Optimum never notified me or my wife that it was changing my router Network and/ or password. On or about 03 / 16 / 2024 an Optimum technician came to my house to install a new router. Prior to 03/ 16/ 2024 my wife and I visited the Optimum office in Greenville, NC. An employee, there. told me to." upgrade " my internet speed for an additional $ 10 monthly charge. Such worker went on to suggest to install a new router in the event that my security cameras were to still.be out of commission. On 03 / 19/ 2024. two other Optimum technicians came to my home to install cable TV. They indicated that they could not assist me with putting my security cameras back on line. Also. on 03 / 19/ 2024 I called Optimum Customer service. I was transferred to at least 3 other departments within Optimum. None of which were able to resolve my security cameras issues. Clearly, Optimum created this problem. Clearly. they refused to take responsibility for it. read more

Network Access Surcharge BS So in reviewing my monthly business internet bill, I noted a $1.99 "Network Access Surcharge" that was added to my CONTRACTED bill. I called the business billing rep, who told me he would "Guess" the surcharge would be part of a "Govt Regulation" item. I then asked for further clarification about which 'govt regulation' it was; and the rep said, "I believe it is part of the Net Neutrality, that was set into effect"; I told him there was no tax that was being generated by that legislation, and I asked him to remove the line item.. He then stated he would have to contact the billing dept (which I selected, via the interactive automated attendant) and have someone from that dept reach back out to me... I told the rep, that I had already selected the "billing dept" and I would be glad to either stay on the line while he reached a billing dept specialist; or I would call back in... He transferred to another rep... I went thru the same issue with this rep; and this rep said this "surcharge" was a new charge; and the surcharge was to help cover the cost of providing access to internet to users in my area; and it was being added to every customer... I again disagreed and and asked him if cancel my bill was really going to be worth a $1.99; and then he said our retention dept would be happy to review the options; and then I asked him to cancel my account; at which point he declined to remove the usury tax or regulation as well as refused to cancel my account and said he wasn't sure what he wanted me to do, as he was not going to do anything I asked or inquired about... I said OK, thanked him and disconnected the call. This type of billing manipulation should be against the law; and we are looking into the legal aspect of this situation.... How do you stomach Suddenlink's bills? I was somewhat outraged when I learned after moving here a year ago that I would pay $63 per month for internet service only. This month my bill increased by $25...I called the help line and a customer service rep named Katrina couldn't "interpret" which services I actually receive (just internet) and couldn't tell me anything about the increase. She asked me if she could call me back very quickly and I agreed. Guess what happened? No callback. Does N.C.'s Public Service Commission have to approve rate increases? I'm curious. I do know that I paid a whole lot less when I lived in Chicago and in San Antonio. I'm looking for an alternative but it probably wouldn't be much better. read more

Can I give Suddenlink 0 stars?? I originally had the slower wifi with TV package. Called to cancel the TV, as I was not watching any TV. Also wanted to upgrade my wifi to the 1g high speed internet. I was told everything was processed. I no longer had the TV and the new internet was going to be updated. 4 months later and no changes in my internet and continue getting billed for the original package....several phone calls with several different representatives, supervisors, and managers, etc.... I continually get told each month that the issue is fixed and it is not. Why are managers telling me that my wifi is being updated and TV package being deleted... but it is not? This is a follow-up to a review I wrote about 5 months months ago about the horrible service I have received from this business. What I wrote was how I was a disabled senior citizen on a fixed income and was paying over $110.00 a month for TV and internet. I just, a few days ago, got my statement online, and my bill went up $18.00. Eighteen dollars in one month's time. I went to live chat with them and they were very rude and sarcastic (you can tell when people are being sarcastic, even when typing). They told me the reason the increase was so large was due to the fact that the internet charge went up $10.00 a month, TiVo increased $2.00 (I think it was $2.00) and a promotion I had had run out. NONSENSE! There was no promotion. And I've never heard of a promotion that lasted over 3 years. And I don't know about anyone else, but my internet service is not all that great. TV shows break up constantly and I don't dare try to watch YouTube (because I can't), and the whole system crashes on a regular basis. I gave them a bad review so now they give me sh*tty TV and internet. I was told that if I wanted a lower bill to reduce services. Being disabled, and only able to get out of the house on rare occassions, the TV and internet is all some of us have. Just because SuddenLink employees get all their services free (I know because I used to be married to an installer years ago) is no reason to be rude and sarcastic, especially to senior citizens. SuddenLink should offer seniors some kind of discount. I get discounts on my haircuts and at restaurants, just to name a few. I don't think they would go broke. I don't know, maybe they would go broke. Be fine with me. Also, in my first review, I mentioned that they would not return my deposit to me. Well, I still have not gotten it. I was told something completely different this time from the first time. I was told on the installation day about 3 years ago that after 12 months of on-time payments the deposit would be credited to my account. I know my payments have been on time because I have them paid online automatically. But just the other day, I was told the deposit would only be paid out when the service is terminated. WHAT?? So I have to terminate my service, get my deposit, then reconnect service. Does that make any sense to anyone?? What gives them the right to just hold on to someone's money when it's not theirs to keep? I thought the deposit was a good faith payment until I could prove myself (and I have), since I was a new cable customer at the time of installation. It's not their money, it's MINE!! This business could not be any worse. I don't even want to give them 1 star, but I have to, to be able to write this review. The gentleman I dealt with from the very beginning, Jimmie Lucas, bent over backwards to help with any problem I had - until the papers were signed - and then he did not have time to talk to me when I had a question. But before the papers were signed, boy, he was Johnny-on-the-spot. They told me to check back in about a week to see if they could do anything for me. My cancellation was done for Aug 5th, so i understand they charge me for August month BUT THEY CHARGED FOR SEPTEMBER MONTH as well. This is the worst company that I have had the worst experience with. At first they were suddenlink, which was a horrendous experience upon itself. The services is spotty and the internet lacks the necessary capabilities to hold multiple devices at the same time. I switched over to another provider and they are 180 degrees better than sudden link/optiumum. When they changed their name, they promised new services, packages, and deals. Did I get that? No. I got more taxes, fees, and promotions taken OFF my account. When I first got this service, they said I was price locked at $75 a month for life, great deal? Of course, then my bill went up to $95, then $120, and then it was going to go up next month to $150, almost double from what I initially paid for to begin with. Before I start $150 for garbage customer service and atrocious internet and TV, I dropped off all my equipment to Optimum and told them to cancel my service. This was yesterday. I got an email today stating that my billing cycle will end April 8....? I called customer service and this woman told me, per company policy, that they don't prorate bills, and even if you cancel one day into your billing cycle, you have to pay the ENTIRE month. What kind of BS is this? I told her some not so nice words and fighting this bill until they take it off my account, because I am that petty and will not pay it. :D read more

We cancelled our service in May. Husband asked, do we owe for router? Nope, that's paid for. Later in the summer we started getting threatening phone calls about how we owed them $50 for the router we still had, and since we were out of the country, we paid the $50 after being told we could get a refund when we returned home. HAHAHAHAHA. My husband is on hold with them right now. He has been to their office 6 or 7 times and every time he is told something else. But no check is forthcoming. The last time he was given a number in NY to call, but the credit that is supposed to be on our account does not exist. These people are crooks. So frustrating! read more
