Optometric Care Associates has this location and the location in Paso Robles. The parking at this location is usually pretty good and I can always find a spot right at the front of the building. I have been in here a few times to look at new lenses and get my glasses repaired, and every time the gentlemen at the desk seems very annoyed to help. Keep in mind, there is either no one or maybe one other person when I walk in, so it's not like it's packed or anything. Today I went in to get my glasses realigned and the same gentleman was at the desk sitting down looking super annoyed and said I'll get to you when I can, you can grab a seat. I waited for a bit as he just sat there and stared at the other customer that was looking around then was on his phone. I'm not sure why this location's customer service is as drastically different from the Paso one as it is (I assume they have the same owner), but I would highly recommend checking out the Paso Robles location vs this one! read more

Everything was decent up until after wearing my glasses the third time my right arm was flopping up and down. My son took him in and they had a hard time, but they said they had fixed the problem. within wearing my glasses two more days. It was right back to the same way it was before. So my wife took him in this time and we were told that there's nothing that they can do so after wearing my glasses, maybe 10 times and spending over $500 they don't have an answer and they're not gonna do anything for me. I'm just very disappointed and we won't be returning. Hopefully manufacture can be a little bit more helpful. read more

People in Los Osos talk about shopping locally and try to when at all possible. I've purchased new glasses here before and spent more than necessary and had less than quality service because of trying to shop Los Osos. So when before I was going to need a new pair of glasses I went into this place first to get my frame adjusted. A honestly nice lady let me know that there was to be a $20 charge and that I'd have to sign a waiver. I get that a waiver would be necessary in case breakage happened but a $20 ? Ridiculous! The owner must be in it for last dime. Greed must take president over customer service. Like I said, I've bought glasses here before, usually for over $1000+. I think Dr. Hile is AWESOME! Both my husband and I have gone to see him. In years past I went to see a doctor in Pismo who has since retired. I find Dr. Hile very thorough in his exams and in explaining exactly what he is doing and what it all means. For me, I am thankful that I am not given the "hard sell". I have not gotten to the point of needing anything beyond Readers. Doctor Hile lets me know that and doesn't push me toward having to buy some frames there. THAT is integrity and honesty! A little disappointed in the lax COVID protocol and protections that I experienced on my visit. I watched the doctor come back from lunch and enter the office without a mask. When I walked in, I then observed the gentleman in charge of the frames walking around without a mask. Later I was asked during the exam to remove my own mask in the tiny exam room. The gentleman who was in charge of helping to pick glasses was not wearing his mask again when the doctor walked me over to him and had it off for the majority of the time I was trying on frames. Additionally both external doors to the office were closed providing no air flow to the interior that was occupied by at least one team member unable or unwilling to properly wear a mask. Overall a little disappointing to see in a health facility given the current COVID crisis. I'm not sure if I will be back. read more

Terrible experience!!!! I ordered contacts for the first time. I was told they would be available for pick up in just a few days. 1 month later they finally come in and then I was told even though they were in the office, I could not have them. I had to take an entire day off work come in and have them put in my eyes in the morning and come back later to have them removed. I can not take an entire day off of work in my field of business, nor should I have to lose out on a few hundred dollars! After way over paying for new glasses and now getting the complete run around with my contacts I will never be going back to this office. I will also be letting anyone else I know that has VSP insurance (all CMC employees) to find their eye care elsewhere. read more

I went here on a whim for my first pair of prescription eye glasses. I had a specific and somewhat quirky request: I wanted to have my prescription put into a very old pair of frames that belonged to my late grandfather. Randy was kind and helpful. I used to go to their office in Paso- love Dr. Wells and had good experiences there so it's great that they opened one in Atascadero now. Granted, we are in very strange times right now but before I went I called to make sure that the office was wearing masks, distancing patients, etc. The one downfall for me is the gentleman helping me picking out my frames was surprisingly not wearing a mask most of the time (it hung from his ear)- and that made me very uncomfortable so I grabbed a pair of frames and left as quickly as possible. I recently went to lens masters and found a very clean store. They had a nice selection of eye wear and were very affordable. The owner met me when I walked in with a smile and promptly showed me to the men's eye wear section. When I found the glasses I wanted he took my measurements and I was finished within 10 minutes. He is so personable and friendly, and even found me a rebate offer for my contact lenses to lower the cost a bit. I was on vacation in Cayucos and my glasses broke. Without any backup, I needed my glasses repaired or replaced. Lensmaster was recommended by a local optometrist. When I walked in, there were a couple people ahead of me and only one person working. He took his time with each customer but didn't waste anyone's time. When it was my turn, he listened while I explained the situation. He took my beloved glasses and fixed them. Took less than 5 minutes and he cleaned them. He was efficient and well mannered. The gentleman in charge could not of been any nicer; he took five minutes to reshape and redesign my frames to fit perfectly. He refused my attempts at compensation. The man was nice and all but the cost of care is ridiculous when you can go other places for 1/3rd the price without insurance. buyer beware. Update to my review. 01/17/2017. A new staff member named Randy contacted me directly about my review today. It's been a long time since I wrote the original review, but he told me that he is the new optician and he is really focused on good customer service. I'm happy enough with my alternative so I probably won't be going back, but I did want Yelp readers to know that my old review may no longer be valid as Randy is clearly customer service oriented. He also proved to me that he "knows his stuff" because he took the time to explain a few details about the prism effect of lenses and the availability of certain features (many) from their supplier.
