I've been coming to this office for a few years and really like it here. Their appointment time is reasonable. Environment is clean, spacious, and welcoming. Nursing staff are caring and helpful. Dr Wu, Dr Uranga, and NP Holly have all been great too. Highly recommend. *I want to add a few more good words about my healthcare providers. Holly has a very gentle and personable approach. She always makes me feel heard and cared for. Dr Uranga is like the fun aunt you see once in a while. She shared all kinds of tips with me including what supplements to take as well as how to find quicker appointments with specialty doctors. Dr Wu has a holistic approach. So I called 08/15/2025 and was amazed that there was an appointment available 08/18/2025. I said I'd call out of work. Come Monday I get a call 30 minutes before from someone telling me that the doctor is "not seeing new patients". I'm pretty sure the call center people, who don't physically work there, are the issue based on reviews. I have this place listed as my PCP office since probably 2019. Have only been once and likely never again. I am not a "new patient". I knew UnitedHC, and by extension Optum was bad (Hence, "Free Luigi" became a thing), but I'm seeing issues more and more Everytime I try to use the services I pay for. I have been seeing my doctor at HealthCare Partners Alhambra office since 2011. The physician was good and the staffs were okay. However, I kept having billing issues last two years. I went to have my annual physical checkup last year Dec. Everything was fine. However, I received a bill for the copayment for a doctor visit after a while. For annual physical checkup, no copayment should need to be paid. However, I contacted them multiple times using their App, they said I need to call the billing department. Then at the billing department, they insisted it was billed under regular Office Visit. They asked me to call the doctor office to correct the billing code. So I called the doctor office, the person who received my call was very rude. She said she would transfer me to the billing department. I was really mad. They were playing games, wasting my time. After I said I wanted to appeal, the person who talked to me put me on hold. After a while, she said someone will contact me to discuss. Honestly, I feel it did not worth the time to fight for the copayment. But that's not the point. I feel scared. I was seeking a professional healthcare service but I found out like talking to a scam company. They know what they are doing. One copayment is not that much but it does add up. When I googled it, they have 4.7 million patients and serve over 101 million unique patients a year You can do the math just for the copayment. What I want is finding a doctor that I can trust If I deal with a healthcare organization that does not have integrity and honesty, I don't think I can entrust my health to them. It hurts my bottom line, it is not about the copayment. It is about trust. I know it is not easy to find another healthcare company that I an trust nowadays but I will not stay with Optum. 05/20/2026 updates: The office called me a few weeks ago and they said they should not charge me for the copayment. Then they never call me back. I did more researches. I think for medical coding, they could charge me the copayment when the physician discussed with the patient for some pre-existing conditions. I finally paid the copayment. it is the gaming of the health system. I don't want to waste the time. So frustrated, next time for annual physical check up. I need to tell my physician not to discuss any health situation, just check up. What's the point of seeking healthcare these days. I've been going to Optum for many years when the practice was previously Healthcare Partners. Dr.Wu and his team are great but some of the changes from Optum are subpar. It's great if you don't need anything but if you need labs....RUN from Optum. Optum no longer draws your labs and refers you to LabCorp. I live in Alhambra so I want to go to LabCorp Alhambra which is AWEFUL....LabCorp customer service is some of the worst I've ever seen. I even saw LabCorp staff treat a handicapped person that did not have an appointment so disrespectfully about 1 year ago. I made complaints to my healthplan and Labcorp but nothing. I worked at AltaMed Health Services for 20 years and I can tell you....I know what customer service looks like. Because of challenges getting appointments at LabCorp, I have cancelled several of my appointments with Optum even though I have high cholesterol and need regular refills which I also ran out of . Last year, I walked into Labcorp at 7:00 AM without an appointment and was told it would be 2 hours so I decided to wait even though I had not eaten food but the wait was 4 1/2 hours. Lastly, I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago and the referral was not in the EMR and no consult note in the system even though Dr. Wu referred me. That's a huge gap and lack in coordination of care. My health plan sent me the cologuard test which I dumped because I already had a colonoscopy which is a complete waste of healthcare dollars. I own my company and purchase my own health insurance and am seriously considering switching my family to Kaiser. I have been coming to this location for over 25 years. I love my doctor, and nurse practitioner, they are great, staff is great! The reason for my one star is because since this medical group has changed to Optum, it's been a disaster with trying to call in to the doctor office, leaving messages, getting refills, all because of NEW changes! Currently I am experiencing an issue with trying to get a prescription because Optum changed their preferred pharmacy WITHOUT giving me notice ahead of time, and this pharmacy is over 100 miles away from my home. How is this acceptable for your patients?!?! I've called the office, Spoke to united healthcare, Optum customer care, filed a complaint and I still do not have my medicine because they decided to change preferred pharmacy without taking into consideration what is best for the patient. I have been a patient with Optum, formally healthcare partners, for over 15 years. I realize that there are challenges with an HMO, but it has worked for me up until now. Recently, I have faced new obstacles, and it has been very upsetting because my basic needs are not being met. The place is crummy-looking, but they are currently renovating it. Don't know if they're done yet, but I last visited in the summer of 2017 and the entire building was going through a major makeover. The staff is friendly and helpful, and cleared up any questions and called my insurance twice to make sure I was accepted. I came to see Dr Yang, and overall I was very pleased. She doesn't work too many hours but the receptionists were able to make an appointment for me within a reasonable time frame which worked out really well. Dr Yang took her time to listen to my problems and provide multiple treatment plans. The most impressive part of my visit though, was how the doctor spoke to me and also analysed my health using the "Asian bmi" scale for example. This showed great cultural awareness and it's something I had never received before by any other doctor in my lifetime. This is something I have always desired in healthcare that not everyone fits the same "mold" and that an individuals health isn't only defined by where your number lies on a standardized curve. The clinic is a little old and run down looking, but that means it's been in operations for a while and you can tell that it works like a well oiled machine. read more

I've been coming here since it was Health Care Partners & have never had a complaint. Dr. Uranga has been my PCP since I started here & she's always been great! But now that they switched to Optum, when calling in, you are directed to a call center where some of the girls there are very rude. If they are unsatisfied with their roles, then maybe they shouldn't be that first contact to this Dr's office. Along with that, it's just very hard to get through to someone due to high volume of calls which is my only reason for the 3 stars. Just trying to communicate with them has been difficult since their new system. Hopefully it's due to Covid & will provide better quality once everything is back to normal. read more

I have been coming since my mom brought me in as a newborn. 25 years later, I am still happy as ever with the Dr's I have personally had. I can't say the same for the one particular Dr. Let's start with my Doctors frist. I have had Dr.Mauer as my pediatrician up until I turned 18. She was the pediatrician of all my siblings and she was beyond compassionate. She always squeezed us in and if we couldn't make it to the office and we told her our symptoms, she sent a prescription to the pharmacy and it NEVER failed. Once turning 18, I began seeing Dr.Yang and she is just as phenomenal as Dr.Mauer. Dr.Yang off the bat from my first visit with her, took her time to get to know me as a person. Then we went on to discuss my health and I left leaving so confident leaving my health in her hands and to this day, she has been the same Dr I met 7 years ago. Now let's move on to the Dr that SHOULD NOT be practicing. Dr.Wu. He DOES NOT LISTEN. All he does is give you a pile of pills to take and asks that you go back for a follow up in two weeks just to take your co pay and be ignored and given ANOTHER handful of pills. It is because of him that my father has so many health complications. My father has a mystery diagnosis and now has a handful of specialist working with him. Many of the specialist have contributed many of my father's complications to the lack of health care by Dr.Wu. At one point Dr.Wu had my father taking 15 pills a day that only caused him more harm. The last straw had to be when I personally took my Dad in to discuss his health problems with Dr.Wu. My father has been going to his appointments solo because I could never get out of work but I NEEDED to speak with the Dr about it all. So we see Dr.Wu and I explain my concern and all he did was hit my fathers back about three times and listened to his lungs. I voiced my concerned about all my father's complications and Dr.Wu laughed and said "well what do you want me to do?!" That was the last straw. I could not believe it. I was beyond infuriated and we ended up storming out of the office. My blood pressure sky rocketed from that alone. Needless to say, I changed my father's Dr to one MUCH better. The new Dr has him down to 3 pills a day INSTEAD OF THE 15 DR.WU had him taking and my father has been better than ever. A Dr is suppose to be compassionate and caring and TRIES to get to the bottom of a health issue. Dr.Wu can care less. ALL my father was to him was a number NOT a patient. Now, the office has expanded over the years and the receptionists are very friendly and they all get to know you over the years. IF ON TIME, you will be in and out. Always a bright and clean environment. Parking could be better. If it wasn't for Dr.Wu,, I would have given the place 5 stars but the fact that he is there and treats his patients like crap, I took off two stars. Dr. Omana blew me away, and not in a good away. I called the 24 hr hotline because I was experiencing some very unusual and disturbing symptoms. I spoke with a great nurse and he told me to see the doctor asap. We made an appt for the next day for 3:45 pm so I'm thinking great. When I showed up it was 3:52 pm (Friday traffic, you know how it is) Anyways ten minutes is no big deal right? Wrong The receptionist calls me up to the counter and tells me that my appt was for 3:30 and they could not see me because they were double booked. "Go to urgent care" they said. I could not believe they were turning me away, I told the receptionist I was under the impression my appt was at 3:45 and I was in alot of pain..Honestly I was genuinely scared and I couldnt bear waiting in urgent care for hours. Crying at the front desk I see Omana walk by, like nothing. Instead, they have a nurse come talk to me and also tell me to go to urgent care. I asked if I could just wait and she said no i couldnt because she had patients until the end of the day. SO WHAT! This woman is supposed to be my doctor, and I was in pain, I think she could have made an exception especially since I had an appointment (its not like I showed up an hour late) and on top of that, its not a patients fault if an office double books her. Is it not a doctors responsibility as a care provider to help and treat her patients? If she is so busy she needs to stop accepting new patients. Oh well I should have known she was a crappy doc because even when I did have a chance to see her for a previous appt, I told her about some shoulder pain I was having and all she did was tell me it was stress. She did no exam or check up, nothing. I think she saw I was young and assumed I was fine and she just brushed me off. It turns out my rotator cuff had inflammation, not from stress but from a sports injury. Thanks doc Then, the next tues (office was closed Mon. for holiday) they have the nerve to call me and tell me I missed my appt and to call so they can reschedule. Wow! I did not miss my appt, I showed up. Overall I think the staff is nice, which is why I didnt give this place one star.But don't ask for Omana unless you want a doc who doesn't give a crap about you. Anyways I didnt write this review right away, because I wanted to calm down, but I did want to share my experience. Even though she is very popular and highly desired in this practice, I always seem to get the best care from her. She is patient and understanding, and always takes time to explain things to me. It can be difficult to get an appointment with her, but even then she tries to return calls or pass on information via the nurses. The nurses are great as well. read more

Your first physical out of the year is free which is great cause I have a 20 dollar co-pay. Couple weeks after my physical I received a $20 bill from doctors office where I had my physical. I called to see what the charge was for and get this, you'll get a good kick out of this. I choose Dr.Omana since one of coworker recommanded me to her. My first impression when she came in to room with smile, warm and nice greeting. I had really good time in the room talked to her about my concerns and she good listener. she also give me a call back about lab results and follow up to take care problems. my whole ohysical included : pap, detailed physical exam,bloodwork, and xray in 2hrs. She is pretty good at respond to POP msg and provide me advices what to do. I preferred to communicate with Dr.Omana via msg directly rather than leave phone msg. last week when i msg her and she missed my pop msg on the weekend and she apolorized her late response. I faxed some annual checkup form to fill out and she done within less than one day. I got a call from her nurse next day morning tell me my form is ready to pickup. I thought she is going to take a long time to do it. (you know how the doctors hate paperworks) staffs was nice and friendly all the time. These people are more than willing to put my life in jeopardy to save a few bucks. First of all, I have fibrocystic breasts which means your breast commonly have lumps in them and my previous doctor said I should have a mammogram every year even though I hadn't reached 40. The Healtcare partner doctor refused to send me to get one. Secondly, when I was going to Africa the tour guide told us we had to have shots to prevent several diseases. I called before my appointment to schedule the shots informing them exactly what I would need (Hepatitis A&B, malaria, thphoid fever, yellow fever, etc.). A different doctor I saw that day tried to convince me that I don't need any of those. Then he finally caved in and gave me a prescription for malaria tablets and one for hepatitus A & B, which he directed me to have filled at the pharmacy downstairs. The pharmacist told me there must be some mistake because the doctor prescribed the viles for hep A & B which had to be injected into the patient (me). So we deduced that the doctor wanted me to pay for the meds and they would inject them into me, thus saving Healthcare Partners $160 for the cost of the Hep A & B meds. I went home and checked the Healthcare Partners website and for trips to Africa, their website recommended the same shots that I the doctor tried to talk me out of getting. I wrote a letter to the head of the organization. His secretary, who was also a nurse, wrote me back saying it was my fault because I refused to sign the 'No Arbitration Agreement' form. I quickly advised that dummy that I don't have to sign anything and doesn't mean they can deny me treatment that my company medical plan is paying for. Obviously, they used that as an excuse because the doctors were probably following their policy of saving money by denying patients medical care. read more

Although I am not much of a Doc-kinda-Girl I've finally reached that age to where I should get my Periodic health evaluation annually--And we all know that includes all the fun preventative physical examination stuff--keep my engine running strong kinda thang !!!! Words on the street be PCP Omana-Roldan is very caring, efficient and knows her Stuff and also the facility is a one stop shop meaning there's a lab, pharmacy and so on. So hey sounds good to me. So I called my insurance company and got myself hooked up with this Amazing PCP. Got excited and made an appointment asap. A month later--- Per my initial visit I took a beautiful Tuesday off--took me a cool 12 mins to drive there from Pasadena--appointment was @ 9 am Yo and I cannot be late for her--I showed up 3 mins to spare since parking was so dam Easy--rows and rows of available spaces. Front main door--has security guard--um Okay--entered in--took elevator UP -and Bam here I be. Her office is super clean and cute--friendly faces will greet ya by your government Name---after your sign in--and I was called in By a super cool Nurse--whom gracefully gave me a Tour of the back office--I was Happy to know where the Banos Be Yo..Haha so she took all my Vitals--told me to Prep and get ready for Doc. 5 mins later my new PCP showed up--asked me a few caring question--kinda to get to know ya kinda protocol --Cool me like--and 10 or so minutes later--Me done with everything but my blood works and had to take extra 7 mins to fill out paper works b4 bouncing. Cons: I had to call to confirmed appointment since I did not want to waste my free day off and I was never informed to FAST prior to my appointment so since I consumed Coffee--I now must do my lab works W/Labcorps 3 weeks later. But overall I really like my new PCP and I'm so please to have found a provider and office that is set up to Get It Done!!! read more

I have probably had about 4 appts. with him over 2 years and the last one (about a week ago) will definitely be my last one. My children and I have been coming to this office for years. Yes, they are very busy but that's because they are great doctors. They will call or email you if you have an important issue. In regard to my younger sister's breast cancer, Dr. Uranga alerted us to a test for younger breast cancer patients and their siblings that my sister's oncologists and surgeon had overlooked.
