Worst experience in my entire life. DO NOT GO SEE NICK. He did not even spend 10 minutes cutting my hair butchering the job completely without listening to my opinions. I asked for some layers to be added to my hair. He used thinning sheers to give me a mullet while SIMULTANEOUSLY whipping my own hair at my face! Truly horrible and made me want to weep the whole drive home. I couldn't even have the heart to be angry after seeing the result and just left as fast as I could. Kelvin has always been very attentive to my needs and make me look fantastic every time. He also gives you honest opinions whether or not certain styles or colours would fit well with you. He is also very professional and friendly...and is a reliable foodie source too! I highly recommend Opus! This isn't a place that is going to give you a quick in and out hair cut job so be prepared to be there for at least 45 minutes for a hair cut if your hair is long and at least a few hours for a colour job. So I have to be honest here. After getting my hair cut here before my wedding I did on a few ocassions go to one of those $8 hair dressers. Well, I have learned my lesson. You get what you pay for. Fisrt off you need to look for Ms Lee to get your hair washed. Give her a good tip and she will give you a head massage that will put you right to sleep. No kidding. I recommend booking an appointment ahead of time and I highly recommend Mitchel. He will make you never wanting to go back to those $8 hair salons ever again. SHORT version: u get what u pay for, u wont regret it, just ask for brian and not nick. best head massages ever. LONG version: been here twice, as my usual go to place has closed temporarily. i did not read the reviews before going, but i wish i did, as i had no idea which stylists were good. 1st time here i got nick. i told him i wanted layers, cut 2-3 inches. my husband dropped me off first, before he parked. then i walked in, sat down, and nick did the cut. by the time my husband came into the mall for a bit, i already called him and said i was done.. took 15-20 min. i did not expect it to be that fast.. it didnt seem like nick was meticulous. the cut was not horrible, but it looked the same quality as my old hairdresser, and he was much cheaper. also, i have a few gray hairs which he pointed out and recommended i try their color touch-up next time. 2nd time here old hair place still not open, so i decided to give OPUS another try, with a different stylist. they gave me brian. o m g. i felt like i was treated like friggin royalty. i was expecting the same experience as the 1st time.. i was not expecting brian to ask me a million questions about the same cut as i had last time. he really took the time to analyze my hair.. "do your bangs get in your face all the time?", "your face shape is small so i dont recommend you layer too much, otherwise it will look poofy / static-y in the winter", "when your hair falls behind your back, what shape do you want it to have?" my goodness! brian also apologized and said they were a bit busy, so i may have to wait a bit for someone to wash my hair after the cut. i did not have to wait for long, and i got this girl to wash my hair. i wish i asked her her name, because ive never had such a good head/neck massage before... i almost fell asleep! she also was so patient with me, because 1 loop of my mask kept falling when she was washing my hair, and she put it on nicely for me each time. at the end, brian even gave me some tips on how to maintain my hair, and didnt try to hard sell anything. he said if i dont have time, then i can consider having them help next time, but he said its better if i do it myself at home. now, i am not sure if different stylists charge different prices at this place? (does anyone know?) brian did charge me more, but i also took double the length off, 5-6 inches this time (vs 2-3 inches the 1st time). total time was 1 hour (what a difference compared to the first time!) i also noticed a few stylists came to ask for brian's advice on cutting and coloring. i may actually not ever wanna go back to my old place even if it opens up! also, usually after a cut, and u go home and wash it yourself (i do not maintain my hair at all), it doesnt look as good as if the salon blow dries it for you of course. but i have to say, i did not complain about the price i paid, and my short hair looks GREAT. i never said that before after a haircut, it looks amazing! im so glad brian gave me his professional opinion... i usually layer my hair all the time, but he didnt want to layer too much, and it ended up looking great. it does make my face look less big + less frizzy/static-y. Conclusion: DEF worth a try. ask for brian! if ur one of those people who usually goes to those $10-20 hairdressers (i do! lol), i guarantee you will not complain about the quality & service you get. VIP treatment! despite the higher price, its not considered too expensive. you get what you pay for. read more

I am writing this review because I am deeply upset about the decline in professionalism and attitude of one of my long term hair stylists. I have had HUEN cut and style my hair for several years but in the most recent months, the way she talks to you about your hair is insulting. She has insulted me several times on several ocassions about my hair type, hair length and face shape that I will never go back to see her ever again. She will point blank complain to you about how your hair is too flat, thin, frizzy, so many gray hairs, etc. She has an awful personality. She wasn't like this before. I had an extremely negative experience the last couple times she cut my hair. My advice is you can save your money and find a nicer and better hair stylist. read more

Had my hair coloured here yesterday (single process full head). I have medium length hair to my shoulders at the back, and slightly longer in the front. In general I was satisfied with the colour job, although upon coming home, I realized the colour is not even throughout. For example, the inner layers are darker than the top of my head. Regardless, I was still satisfied with the service until I went to pay. I was surprised that they charged me an additional $15 hair wash fee on top of the $85 colour job. They claimed this fee has already been discounted for me because regular price is $25. I have never heard of a separate hair wash charge for a colour job before - not sure now you can colour someone's hair without washing it afterwards...perhaps they want to have an option for those who want to leave the dye in their hair and go home to wash it? -_- I felt this was a sneaky move on their part and definitely not good business conduct. If you want to charge unconventional fees, you should tell the customer up front. You can keep my $15, but I won't be coming back. read more

TLDR: Been coming to nick for 10 years on and off. Came in with ashy blonde hair with a 1 inch root asking for a touch up. 5 hours and $500 later, I left with blue hair. I've been seeing nick for over 10 years and his cuts are great. However, the dye jobs just never turn out the way you want them to. I haven't gotten my hair dyed from him in a while and my other colourist canceled on me last minute before a trip. I came in with ashy silver blonde hair with a 1 inch root but i left with BLUE HAIR. ALL I WANTED WAS MY ROOTS DONE TO MATCH THE BOTTOM. I should have noticed that it wasn't going to happen when he originally told me the colour was going to be pinky. I told him "no i don't want pink" and pulling up pictures to show him what i wanted. My hair lightens really easily, i go blonde in 2 sessions but he added a 3rd for no reason. It ended up doing nothing but costing me an extra $100 and burning my scalp. When he mixed the dye, i asked the assistant what colour it was going to be and she said brownish. I did end up telling him that, a honey brown to fade would be okay because i knew the colour. 5 mins in i could see how dark my roots were getting, they were a charcoal black. I told them, i don't want it that dark and assure me it was going to wash out light. I'm not sure why i trusted them when my gut was saying "hell no". They proceeded to use the heat lamp on my hair for 20 mins and washed my hair. It was blue. It was the colour of a blue pen. And it costed me $500+ The worst part is that they made me pay before i even saw the colour because they were closing. read more

I went to this hair salon to get my hair cut and colour. I got recommended to go from my friend saying it was very nice and the service was amazing. After their work on me, I was very pleased and everything was good. Once I walked into the salon, the receptionist was very friendly and so are the workers. Very disappointed with this salon. After reading reviews of this salon I thought I would give it a try and get a cut here. Called the day before for an appointment and they put me in at 9:30am. Got there right at 9:30am to see the doors wide open but no one was there to greet me at the door or at the receptionist desk. I looked around but couldn't see anyone. Waited around 5 minutes to see that there was a lady that worked there washing her own hair at the back and could not hear me come in. She apologized and proceeded to guide me to a salon chair after checking that I had an appointment. I waited for around 20 minutes until another stylist informed me that the stylist that was going to be cutting my hair, Mitchel, was on his way. I waited for another 10 minutes to see other stylists starting to cut other people's hair but still no one to check on me or update me so I got up and left. As I was about to leave the original stylist that told me that Mitchel was on his way asked me if I even had an appointment. It was checked on their agenda that my name was on it and he asked me if Mitchel knew. This was my first time going and I assumed that the person I called would have notified the stylist. I am very disappointed and would not recommend people going to this salon. I think it would have been easier for any other stylist to contact Mitchel that he had a client instead of asking if I have contacted him. read more
