I had been referred to a dentist who was willing to do a root canal and recrown of one of my lower molars. I located them as they were the only ones within a 200 mile radius that took my insurance. My regular dentist, Dr Smith, at Feather Dentistry in San Luis Obispo, California, was not willing to do the work. But she had recommended me to someone who would, based on her assessment that I had a need for a new crown and a root canal. I arrived at the dental office and was attended to buy a Dr Johnson. He saw what was required, based on what he read from my referral dentist Dr Smith, and suggested we do the root canal and the crown that very day. I accepted. During the process of the root canal and the crown, Dr Johnson complained frequently that the entire process was quite difficult and seemed to have a problem getting at a point where he was satisfied with the work. I was very roughly treated, although not remarking so because I had no idea if this was normal or not. After quite a heavy physical struggle, he completed the process of both a root canal, and a crown. The final half an hour was done by his dental assistant, whose name I do not have. She seemed like about 35 or 40 years old, Latina, and finished whatever was necessary to complete the medical process. After paying around $1,000 out of pocket as well as whatever was required through my insurance, I left. Within a couple of days I felt that there was something very uncomfortable about the tooth. On April 1, 2025, I went to my regular dentist, D. Smith and talked to my hygienist. I said that I was feeling that there was something uncomfortable about the tooth. So consulting with Dr Smith, my regular dentist, they proceeded to do an x-ray and visual inspection of the tooth. One was noticed that an adjacent tooth had been chipped. So my dentist filled that chip tooth. I asked her if this could have been a result of the actions of Dr Johnson. She said probably not. But of course she was not sure. At the same time, or at some later date, she let me know that in fact the subject tooth the one requiring the root canal and crown had been cracked. She said it in the long run, it would need to be removed, and replaced with either a bridge or an implant. She also suggested that I have a more detailed optical image taken of the injury. We came into the appointment 20 minutes early and they immediately took my son in the back. They were so caring and thoroughly explained what they were going to do to provide an immediate fix. I immediately felt so comfortable and calm in the office. I wish we were closer and could go to them full time. The office was the cutest and so clean and staff was so friendly. My son noticed we were back to our hotel before our "appointment time started." In hindsight, having the orthodontic emergency was a really good thing because it was really nice to have them look at my son's braces and assure that everything is going well.

Conscientious, deeply knowledgeable, disarmingly relaxed and friendly, and reasonably priced as icing on the cake. And the office staff are all top notch as well, they know your name when you and the family walk in and are always friendly and helpful with requests and scheduling needs. In the office there is an air of jovial comradery, which is particularly helpful as going to the orthodontist/dentist can be stressful for people. I've been to numerous orthodontic consultations in the past and other doctors have tried to sell me things that weren't necessary and/or price gouge in an effort to make more money. Dr. Harper didn't do any of that. He tells you what he would do if he were in your position, even if that means that his practice doesn't make as much money. Any orthodontic work that I've had done there has been effective, with the desired outcome, and they've tried to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Dr. Grube was absolutely outstanding--kind, patient, thorough, and incredibly reassuring. He took the time to carefully examine the retainer, explain what was going on, and confirm that everything was okay. He never rushed us and made sure my daughter felt comfortable the entire time. I had been self conscious about my smile for some time, and after moving to SB, I decided I wanted to do something about it. After a visit to *another* local ortho office, I didn't think I could afford braces at. all. But while in an awesome "make positive changes" phase of life, I happen to find that Costco offers discounts through Delta Dental. AND Delta Dental covers adult orthodontic care. AND Wright & Feusier strive to care for their community, so they accept Delta Dental. I called to confirm and got a free consultation appointment for the next week. After talking with Deb and Dr. Feusier, I learned about what their goals were (straighter teeth, fix narrowing and crowding, etc), limitations (need metal braces on bottom because of natural overbite, could not remedy overbite entirely because I'm naturally missing an incisor), and the cost associated. They said i could take the cost details home and talk it over with my partner (2600 + 500 for retainers) and projected one month for a visit if I wish to get started. Well, the projected cost was ONE FOURTH that suggested by another local place AND they happen to have a cancellation two days later, so I decided to go for it!! 16 months of braces was freaking awesome through them. I felt communicated with, knew what was asked of me to get the best smile possible, and I absolutely adore the staff of this office.
