We spent our honeymoon at La Concha and this place was literally across the street! We are from Texas so we were very curious to see how the Mexican food here measures up. We were pleasantly surprised! The Chimichanga was delicious and my husband enjoyed his burrito. We liked it so much we actual went there again. The second time I ordered the Mexicali tacos. They had these delicious crispy onions, but I didn't love the texture of the meat. The place is very small and it takes awhile to get food, but they seems to be how it is everywhere on the island. read more

My husband and I stayed in the hotel right in front of this place. The writers were on their phone the whole time, they didn't care about the tables, they didn't even offered you water. The food was awful, it made us sick. My husband was on the bathroom the whole night with vomit and stomach pain. It's expensive and not good at all. Better to try something else. read more

As I'm walking Ashford Ave nursing a hangover from the night before I need food fast. This place has a very good vibe it's small and intimate. The bartender was super friendly and I ordered the pina coloda .Now let me warn you this wasn't your applebees pina coloda this was flavorful and all sorts of boozy. Now that I'm awake I had to figure out my lunch. This place has everything from tacos to fajitas . I went with the chicken chimichanga. It took some time for my order to come up but who cares I'm in sunny Puerto Rico :) My entree was huge see pic. It wasn't drowned in cheese like they do at other places and the filling was seasoned to perfection. Instead of shredded chicken it had a mixture of white and dark meat. So good I devoured the whole thing. Here's a tip during happy hour they have $2.00 rum punch, wine, whiskey and beer!! As crazy as it sounds I would of continued to be disappointed with the El Condado area had it not been for this little joint. The Condado Culinary Fest was utter garbage and after a close to two mile walk from Hilton Caribe I was literally over it and was quick to fight anyone. After a rather tourist-safe interpretation of Puerto Rican food that left me underwhelmed we decided to drink this uneventful night in El Condado or pay for a cab to Old San Juan. Walking aimlessly around in Ashford Street, we were hustled in by a thin and overly confident woman who promised us great drinks. She was sure to please making our first round and it was real good- tangy, minty, and lots of rum. Surprisingly she returned outside to bring in more business and periodically checking on patrons inside. Another bartender handled the bar and did not disappoint. We had strong and freshly minted mojitos all night for $4 as well as other inexpensive libations. The staff was fun and kept the patrons drinking and socializing among each other. Needless to say, we met other partiers, headed to two other bars, and later returned to Orale Guey to continue drinking heavy-handed cocktails until we had to call it quits. My mojitos were money and the house cocktail, "Dirty Hoe" is wicked. Imagine a Long Island Ice Tea made of five different rums, one being Bacardi 151. I am not sure how we managed to make the two mile trek back over the bridge to the Hilton, but what I can say is the walk was a lot less painful perhaps because my body was numb. read more

My cousin and I stayed at the La Concha for an extended weekend (Thurs night- Monday afternoon). We ate there 3x! My flight landed around 930 pm, so after meeting her at the hotel, freshening up, and changing clothes, I was famished. The hotel suggested we eat at one of the Chinese food places on the strip but we noticed this little dive directly across the street. The bartender/waiter was outside mingling and immediately began talking to us and we decided to give it a try. We ordered the fajitas orale (chicken, steak, carnitas, and shrimp) which came with 3 flour tortillas, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guac. We also got a couple raspberry margaritas. The food was so good and the drinks were definitely what we needed them to be- strong and tasty! While the food and drinks were delish AND inexpensive, we asked for a side of cheese and were charged $4 for a ramekin(sp?) of freshly shredded mozzarella cheese. But because the food was pretty cheap we splurged on that luxury ;-) My only other complaint was that the other sides were in small portions, but the charges for extra sour cream were feasible. I got the fajitas again my last night. This batch was a little less seasoned but the to go portions of condiments were better. I ordered the deep fried enchilada covered in cheese the next day for lunch and it was just okay, but not nearly as good as the fajitas. The service was great all three times and when I return to San Juan, I'm sure I'll come back! read more

Great strong and super cheap drinks. Convenient location across the street from La Concha in the middle of the Condado. We loved the bartenders and bar manager (Amoury) who took excellent care of us. The food is pretty decent and the wings are excellent. We came back here several times during our trip and are glad we did! Great happy hour specials! read more

Fortunate to get a table. Popular place. Food was really good, and service was excellent. It's not the traditional mexican you would get state-side, so be flexible. Had chicken enchiladas (3) with red sauce on top, and they came with rice and beans. Really good! Son had quesadillas with steak in them. Said they were fantastic and he really liked the queso and beans on the side for dipping. Other son had empanadas and said they were excellent as well. They also came with beans and queso for dipping. We had churros for dessert and they were great. Prices were good for the area (Condado). Would have liked chips and salsa to munch on before dinner came, and it was stuffy in there due to little ventilation. Thats why I cant give rhem 5 stars. read more

Really really bad drinks during their happy hour, we ordered a pitcher of Margaritas and they were revolting and smelt like urinal cakes. We then tried the pitcher of sangria and it tasted so watered down felt like grape juice. The food was sub par at best. The flautas were oily and okay to taste. When in Puerto Rico, eat Puerto Rican food. This was possibly the WORST Mexican food ever. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of a can and the pork burrito had pineapple in it (pineapple, I kid you not) and was covered in mozzarella cheese (why?!@&). The food wasn't gross, but it in NO WAY resembled Mexican food. I strongly suggest passing on this place and heading to one of the many much better spots on this street. I had a margarita and it was hands down the WORST margarita I have ever had in my life. It was clearly just a glass full of cheap margarita mix with a small amount of bad tequila poured in. I couldn't even finish it. The guacamole was the kind that's bought in a bag and squirted out, and the salsa tasted just like Pace from a jar (which it probably was). It felt like one of the waiters was rushing us out the whole time because he kept asking us if we were done and stood and watched as we finished our food, even though we had just said we weren't done yet. We asked for the check and it took at least 15 minutes to get it because they were doing something with the register, but the waiter kept returning and asking if we were done (even though the table was empty and we had asked for the check) and rearranging things on the table. After a long day of traveling we were looking for a quick bite and stopped by here as it was close to the condo. The waiters were nice and food and drink prices were cheap, it's a solid place to just grab some food and go. We got the sangria which was good, a little sweet but on happy hour.. Perfect quick lunch place across from La Concha. I had the La Tripletada and they were some of the most authentic tacos I've had in a while. The decor is like divey mexican chic. Very cute, very casual/festive. The service was great, and the sangria was stellar! I would definitely recommend the soft tacos and sangria, especially if you have crappy mexican food in the states. Earsplitting music but cool little place in a great area. Cheap Modallas at happy hour. Had a steak burrito and a chicken burrito-- chicken was fine but there was something about how the chicken was cooked that I didn't like...it wasn't grilled; it seemed almost Chinese style, so weird consistency for a burrito. I came here with 4 other friends looking for some dancing. Though it's not a dance club, the 2nd floor had alot of people and a bar. There was no cover charge, and drinks were typically priced $9 for a shot of Patron. We came on Saturday night around 12 AM or so. We grabbed our drinks and the music was great! They played more PR typical stuff like reggaeton, salsa, merengue, bachata. Danced with some great locals, a dance instructor specifically Ramon Leon. We had a lot of fun and got to see alot of good dancers. We ended up leaving around 4 AM but there were plenty of people hanging out. read more

The most horrible service ever I have had in my life. The manager was so rude. I ordered sizzling shrimp fajita and there was no rice or beans. I did not touch the food at all and asked of they can take it back they gave me the biggest attitude and told me they were going to charge me for something I did not even touch and made the biggest deal. read more

Not my favorite meal. Our waitress was kind, but the food just wasn't that great. The shrimp fajitas were ok. They skimped on the veggies. My daughter ordered chicken quesadillas, and the side on her plate was chips with faux, concession stand cheese. Super salty too. The margaritas were weak and watered down. The salsa was just ok. Chicken and carmitas were overcooked, no seasoning at all! I was so disgusted :/ it's sad to over pay for such a bad food (it was not cheap) We are locals and stayed in La Concha Resort right in front of the hotel. Words can't describe how horrible our experience was at this bar, but I'll try. I ordered and paid for a drink at the bar and another customer accidentally knocked it over and spilled it all over the counter before I could even grab it. The bartenders were incredibly rude and battled as much as they could against my request to get a replacement drink. They refused to acknowledge the situation even though they directly saw what happened. The disrespectful manager could not care less about what had happened and told us it was not their fault, then he went outside to avoid the situation. We immediately left the building and upon exiting I told him that they'd lost a few customers for life. His response was very threatening and seemed to be looking for for a physical confrontation. Selfish bars like these never last long because they don't have genuine care for their customers. So, congrats Orale Guey, you got to keep my money for absolutely no service in return. Don't come here, unless you don't care if you're not treated with courtesy and respect. read more
