I've taken orange cab many times and really appreciate the drivers. We have taken cabs to the airport since 1990 I am all for them. But yesterday I had the most unpleasant taxi driver. This is the first time ever in all these years I had him stop a few houses away from my house and remove my luggage, so I could walk back home, he was that rude. For more than 20 years Orange Cab has always provided consistent and reliable service for early morning trips to the airport -- until now. They left me stranded. I scheduled a cab on Wednesday for 4:30 AM Thursday. The cab never showed up. I called Orange at 4:35 and the woman said they had no drivers available and did not know how long it would be. Given the horrible reviews here I would not use this taxi service unless I was absolutely stranded. You can tell this company is unprofessional by the drivers they choose to hire. Honking, cutting people off and screaming profanity to other drivers on the road are the main qualifications to be hired here. I was traveling on Saturday 7/1/2017 on harbor drive, at 1:30pm and a driver in cab # 737 decided he owned the road and deemed himself king. If you're reading this Clint, Shawn or any supervisors / managers of this company I would highly recommend to look into this driver and reprimand him for working for orange cab. I took a Orange Cab from the San Diego to my home on 11/26/22, I had a large purse with me and in the purse was a bag with two Blue Topaz rings in it. During the trip I tipped over my purse and the bag fell out. I saw it fly under the seat in front of me. When we arrived at my destination, I asked the taxi driver to look under the front seat for the bag. He said he looked and found nothing. He took the bag with two Blue Topaz rings, I know because I had them when I got into the cab and when I got home they were gone, I reported it to every agency I was told to, but of course, I didn't get them back because the Orange Cab driver has them. I would give a negative 5 rating if it was allowable. on 9/21/2022, Driver of car number 605 refused to speak English. He broke every single roadway law, including speeding and irratic lane changes. He had to slam on the breaks to avoid pedestrians in crosswalks twice. Driver was on his phone the entire ride driving while holding his phone in hand, even though California is a strict "hands free" state. Once we arrived at the airport, he claimed his credit card terminal was down and demanded cash. The fare was $25 but he claimed not to have change so pocketed a $15 tip which was not deserved. I should have been paid to ride in this "death trap" of a vehicle, which also had every single warning light lit up on the dashbord. When your check engine, oil, tire, and ABS lights are lit, your vehicle needs immediate servce. DO NOT use this company! read more

A nice French woman with two young boys approached me as I exited a supermarket because she needed help. She called this company and had been waiting for 20 minutes for her cab and it didn't show up. She asked if I could help her call the company. I called and said, "hi thank you for taking my call." And let the gentleman who answered my call know that a cab was ordered and I was calling to see where it was. He immediately SHOUTED, like legit shouted at me, that I didn't order a cab. So I let him know that I'm standing next to the lady who ordered the cab and the time it was called and I gave the name of the lady who ordered the cab. I considered letting him know I didn't appreciate that tone or being spoken to like that, but this is another lady's cab and I'm trying to help her, so I didn't want to get into it with this guy. I ignored it and I let him know the location and he BERATED me that that is not the address that was given to him. Let me tell you, this guy was the rudest of RUDE people I've ever encountered. I tried to let him know I'm helping a foreigner and there may be some mix up, but he wouldn't let me speak. He continued to berate me, interrupt me, and insult me! Today I was riding the Jamul Casino bus & we were almost there coming around the last curve when the bus driver had to hit brakes cause of a orange cab trying to pass 3 vehicles around a curve no less!!!! A while back I was driving to work downtown and an Orange Cab drove over a curb, onto the street, into traffic and almost hit my car. The driver yelled at me as if I was the problem for being in the middle lane on 5th avenue as he plowed out there. I replied that he should learn to drive if he's going to be a professional driver. He got behind my car and followed me for four more blocks until we reached another red light. He then got out of his car and tried to get me to come out and fight him. I drove on. I called Orange Cab a few seconds later to ask them to figure out which of their cabbies was in that area trying to fight other drivers. Since I hadn't written down the cab license number as their driver was trying to fight me, they told me to fuck off and hung up on me. My dude called a cab to pick me up from South Park and take me to meet him in the Gaslamp. I'm kind of a baby about driving downtown, and I'm a bigger baby about having to drive when drinks are on my man's boss! Anyway, the cab showed up in less time than predicted, and I didn't feel creeped out being alone with the driver. The ride ended up being about a dollar more than it should have been because cabby exited the freeway a little early, but it was because he misunderstood the address I gave him. No real harm done, and I won't hold a simple mistake against the guy. When I arrived I had to call my dude to come down and pay for the cab (I know, how awesome is that? If this were a boyfriend review, he'd definitely get 5 stars too!). The cabby didn't give me any grief at all about me taking a ride without money on me. An hour or two later I realized I'd lost my phone. We called it a few times to no avail, but finally, when we were almost ready to call it a night, the cab driver answered. Yes, obviously I'd left it in the cab. Stupid! I told the driver we needed a ride home, so he came out immediately to bring me my phone and to take us home. We waited maybe 10 minutes for him to arrive. He took the fastest way home, and we tipped him generously. I wish I knew his name, but I was too tense on my way in, and too drunk on my way out. DO NOT DEPEND ON ORANGE CABS' WHEELCHAIR TAXI DISPATCH !!! They WILL fail you and leave you and your loved ones in dangerous situations--disability be damned. I knew it would be difficult to find a wheelchair cab when we got back on the train at 1:30 in the morning. So, I booked a wheelchair cab with Orange three days in advance. The Surfliner arrived at the station at 1:15. At 1:17, I got a phone call from the Orange Cab dispatcher telling me they couldn't honor my reservation. He told me to call somebody else with a wheelchair ramp cab. "LIKE FREAKIN' WHO?!!?!" I asked, amazed at this inhuman, excuse for a dispatcher. "Cloud Nine, maybe Super Shuttle." "They don't have any drivers available until 6 in the morning. That's why I booked ahead. You assured me you've have a cab here." "Sorry." "Sorry doesn't help," I choked, watching the helpless look cross the face of my immobile loved one. "Do you have any idea on how many levels and how many ways this is wrong?!" "My wife's in a wheelchair, believe me I understand." "Well, they're kicking us out of the station in a couple of minutes. What if it was your wife out on the street for four hours?! Don't you have a phone number for even one of your wheelchair cab drivers? Don't you have some emergency recourse?!" "I can't help you," he hung up. The station security folks felt sorry for us and locked the doors of the station. I spent the next 30 minutes on the phone begging, seething and getting told no, before I finally lucked out in my desperation and got an emergency transport gurney service to rescue us. The moral lesson of this pathetic excuse for cab access? If I have to visit every disability rights organization in California, I'll get Orange Cab's so-called wheelchair service accurately assessed and avoided at all costs. People should not be encouraged by disability advocates to depend on this company. No one should depend on these dispatchers. read more

After at least three bad experiences with Orange Cab, I can say it's consistently the worst cab company in San Diego that I have tried. Every single time they have been late by 20 to 30 minutes without a warning. I have had to call them 5 minutes after the pick up time to ask for the status. The dispatchers are rude, and "Sorry" and "Thank you" are absent from their dictionary. My last encounter was typical. I called the company 3 hours before the pickup time and then again 5 minutes after the promised pickup time. The dispatcher said the phone number I gave him did not accept incoming calls. This is the first time that has ever happened to me. The driver came 30 minutes late. He was a nice fellow, and I checked the number he had. Lo and Behold, the dispatcher had written the number down WRONG and did not accept it -- he just lied. No word about how sorry he was for the inconvenience to me, caused by their incompetence, no less. Apparently, their system is messed up and many requests are just passed from one driver to another. No cab company could be worse. All drivers have been friendly and courteous but the dispatch staff is absolutely horrendous. To make it worse, many of their drivers smoke in the car and then try to cover it up by strong scents or worse, by leaving the window open as they drive. You could report them, though I am not sure how much Orange Cab cares given their general apathy. read more

They have the worst dispatchers I have ever dealt with. Is their dispatcher hut really miserable or something? They make a point of being as rude as they can at all times. And this one time one star rating, (something I've never done on Yelp until this company rightly deserved it) is compounded by the fact that their cabs don't even show up sometimes. So basically rudeness combined with unreliability has earned them a well deserved one star rating. Examples of their ignorance and rudeness: Me: "I am at such and such address" Them: Lady, that address doesn't exist. I need a real address." Me: Well, it's what the street sign says and what the address on the mail that comes here says. Obviously the post office thinks it exists." Them: "No lady, you're wrong." -Then after several minutes of them being stupid and not having up-to-date GPS, and insulting me in the process, and realizing it is a newer development, the dispatcher decides to add insult to injury at the closing of our conversation: Them: "Lady, for future reference, I spent three times as long on the phone as I usually do and we don't like to spend that much time." Me: "For future reference, cab company, I don't usually do business with such jerks, so I will probably not use you anymore." There have been other times where they hung up on me and also when they just said, "find and hail a cab." Hmm. are they trying to lose business? If so, it is certainly working. I used to use them almost exclusively and have probably spent hundreds if not over a thousand dollars on cab fare to them. NOT ANYMORE. Now, I only use them if I happen to hail one and that's if they're lucky. Get nicer dispatchers and maybe I'll put you back in my phone book, but beware. They are jerks! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Called for a cab from my house in golden hill to downtown on Friday night at 8pm. Was told it would be about 20min and the first cab in the area would respond. 35min later I called back to find out where our cab was and no answer. Called at least 4 times and no one answered the phone. Called yellow cab and they came in 10min. Figures that right when yellow cab was pulling away these idiots finally showed up 45min later. The kicker? They never called to let me know they were at the house... yellow cab called as soon as they were outside. The driver was: 1) texting while diving down the freeway 2) got lost and couldn't find the location 3) got in an ACCIDENT with my sister in the car and was at fault for turning and not yielding right of way to oncoming traffic. My sister was sitting next to the door that was badly damaged. Had the other driver been going any faster, my sister would have been killed! If ZERO stars was an option, I'd choose it for this cab company! The customer service was horrendous! Do not use this cab company for setting up pick-up times for the airport. The dispatcher made it sound like something they were not accustomed to and while I was not asking to be guaranteed a pick-up time, was accused of 'being ridiculous' for wanting reassurance that the cab would be at my place on time. Apparently, a little customer courtesy is too much to ask for. I proceeded to ask this nasty dispatcher (who was on duty between 11pm-1am on the night of 20 February 2010) to speak with his manager, to which he referred me to a Sean Wolf and flat out told me to talk to another cab company. I called for an update, the operator asks me if I have been waiting outside, I said yes. He then informs me that the driver who was supposed to come pick me up found someone else on my street to pickup instead, and that they would send someone else. Yea right! I used Orange cab once to pick up a VIP professor at UCSD and transport him to another off-campus lab. UCSD is a very confusing place, when you aren't familiar with it, but you know what, taxi drivers do this for a living, so when I give very explicit directions, they should be able to listen. When I called the dispatcher to request the cab, I wanted to give him the specific location, but he assured me the driver would call me prior to his arrival and get it. Not the case. Cabbie calls me 5 minutes after his requested arrival time, at the main entrance, about 3 miles away from where I needed him to be. So I direct him to the right place, he finds it, and I tell him to stay put, as the professor and I need to walk out and meet him. As we are walking out, I see him leaving the parking lot that I told him to stay in! We finally chased him down and got the professor on his way. Turns out he got lost on the drop-off as well. What should have been a 5 minute ride turned into 15. Unacceptable and incompetent. Based on the other reviews, use Orange only if you will be in the DT area. read more

Wow, in the past few years, this place has just plummeted downhill and straight into the depths of the ocean. I used them frequently and they were fine. There were times when they were a couple of minutes late. Sometimes they were 20 minutes early and would call ten times which was also annoying especially in the early mornings. However, one morning, the in-laws needed a cab ride to the airport. They never showed up. Then they put us on hold on the phone for eternity. Then they decided they were finally going to dispatch a cab. By that time it was quicker for us to drive them down to the airport and be late to work. At a time when there is so much competition from the underground non-taxi organizations, one may think that Orange CAB may be accepting service to a disabled woman with a well-behaved, short haired, service dog. I nearly missed an opportunity to look at an apartment across town due to tardiness this morning when refused service by one of these cabs, even though I told the dispatcher when booking the taxi that I had a service dog accompanying me. When I attempted to book another cab, the dispatcher refused to pick up my calls. I am really getting tired of this type of ignorance on behalf of taxi driver's. All disabled folks needing service dogs are not visibly handicapped. I will refrain from hiring a disability rights lawyer to attempt to help me with this problem again most likely. read more

I saw him driving up and down the street everywhere except in front of my pick up point. Finally they called and I had to give him exact, step by step directions to pick me up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I recently picked up a cab at the airport to take me home. Once I got dropped off, I realized I left my gray zip-up hoody (with Philadelphia Eagles logo on it - very sentimental to me) in the back of the cab. I started calling phone number on my receipt the next day -- turns out that Orange and San Diego Cab recently merged. Despite having all of the necessary info (cabbie #, date and time of pick-up & drop-off), it took the dispatcher 4 days to track down the cell phone number of the cabbie (#1210). Dispatcher said he called cabbie and cabbie denied having the jacket. I proceeded to call the cabbie repeatedly and left a voice mail message every day inquiring about my jacket. The cabbie never had the courtesy to call me back. I would NEVER use this cab company again. Horrible customer service. read more

Ive used these guys 3 times to head to the airport and all 3 times they were on time or early, knew the shortcut to the airport to save time and my money, and were clean and professional. Look...here is the deal...if you are going to the airport, you dont buy your airlin e ticket an hour before you leave, and if you NEED a cab to take you to the airport, then technically, your cab is equally important as your airline ticket. You dont get a cab, then you dont get to fly...right??? Ok...so why the heck would you purchase your airline ticket way in advance and just leave it up to chance to call for a cab 1.5 hours before you need to fly out? Seriously??? I call these guys, and give them my cell. They have me on file with my address. Perfect! I make my arrangements a day ahead of time, and like clockwork they are here. TRY THESE GUYS. I think it is ridiculous to give a cab a 1 star rating because YOU left something important in the cab, or YOU failed to call for a cab until an hour before your flight, or YOU didnt properly plan ahead! Technically I would give them 0 if I could..... I was flying for Christmas eve and knew that taxis were going to be hard to find, so I scheduled mine ahead of time. I called an hour before pick up to confirm and after waiting 30 minutes someone answered and said there systems were down and to call a different taxi, then they hung up!!!! I called back and got through this time with about 10 minutes, I told the guy I had a scheduled taxi pick up from the day before and wanted to know if that was still good and he said no everything was down and I would have to go elsewhere..... he also through in that most were already booked. Luckily I got a hold of a cab company which had a driver in my area on the way to the airport. Orange Cab totally almost made us miss our flight and I am sure made lots of people miss theirs. They arrive promptly, call me when they get here, usually offer to put my bags in the boot, ask me which route would I prefer, and lower the radio if I'm making a cell phone call. At 3AM I called them from my cellular at Good Nite Inn Sea World. Within a couple minutes cab 996 drives in. Takes me to the airport. Since this guy was so fast and honest, I tipped him. I had excellent service from them. I think that guy drives a Prius, with navi by the left A pillar. Highly recommend him if they allow you to chose. I think it partially depends on the time of day when It comes to good and bad. Imagine the driver having to drive drunks during happy hour or drive in traffic. It could be that I got super lucky and they sent me their best guys. As of now, I know that a dispatcher is just a dispatcher and a driver is just a driver. The guy drove 4.2 miles which is roughly $17 and that's with no traffic. All conditions were just perfect. read more
