My girlfriend and I just finished some of the best Korean food ever and came here to try the honeydew melon shaved ice that we've seen everywhere on social media. It was incredibly beautiful, and tasted marvelous! To the health nut: beware, because this thing is not for the faint health-Ed LOL but man oh man the condensed milk and red bean really complimented the dessert. This place opens at 9:00 but no one was there. As weird as it was, we ordered with the very nice but sleepy eyed barista and sat down. A few other people slipped into the coffee shop after us but it was mostly quiet. This place is quaint and lovely. The lightning is great for photos and we opted for a more quieter experience because this place is hopping later in the day and into the evenings. I got an americano and I can say that Starbucks needs to take pointers because their Americanos are bitter and feel a bit like vodka on the pallet. Buttery smooth and frothy are the main components here. No kinda vodka burn here guys. My wife got a Nutella latte and as much as i am a 'plain jane' coffee guy with just black, i wanted her drink. It was as good as it sounds reading and for the some of you, rereading it in your head. Our friend Kristina got a white choclate mocha and even though I didn't taste it, i can assume by her reaction that this was as good as everything else they made. The only downfall here was the fact that we saw a tiny baby roach and killed it and they don't have food items at all. But it says coffee bar so I can't be butt hurt about that. This unexpected gem amidst millions of other cafes in Duluth truly exceeded my expectations. Boasting a wide variety of coffees (Dutch, Chemex), this place is particularly special because of their specialty drinks that are creative and original. What lends their drinks so much character is the fact that they do not rely solely on flavored syrups to make their drinks. The standout: Sweet Potato Latte. My god, the sweet potato latte. When hot, it's got this dreamy and lightly sweet vanilla taste resembling whipped cream. When iced, it's a texture lover's paradise. Orange Coffee Bar is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Duluth area. It's located in a small plaza near Kung Fu Tea and Honey Pig. One of the standouts about Orange Coffee Bar is how nice and beautiful the inside of the cafe looks like! Although it is small, I don't think of it as a inconvenience as there is less noise and everything is much cleaner compared to bigger cafes in the area. This also makes it a great study spot to enjoy a cup of their delicious coffee as you get work done. I'm a regular here and my favorite drinks from the menu are the caramel macchiato and the americano. The caramel macchiato tastes very creamy without being overly sweet, you can't help but want to take a sip every 5 seconds. The americano is also a highlight as well as they hand grind the espresso beans with every order. It has a very smooth flavor that I haven't been able to get at other cafes. You can also add hazelnut or vanilla to your americano if you prefer a sweeter taste. This place is intimate and casual at the same time. Be prepared to be wowed by their intricate art using the foam of your coffee. They almost make it too pretty to drink. I will admit, their coffee is pretty dang good but definitely not cheap. This time around we tried their seasonal watermelon shave ice. The consistency of the ice was light, fluffy, and melted in my mouth. The Azuki beans and whipped cream on top were the perfect complement. A cozy and friendly atmosphere backed by great coffee. Iced capuccino was one of the best - frothy full bodied coffee but yet creamy and light. This place is really close to my apartment (Like walking distance) so I've been here a few times to meet with friends. The cafe itself is nice and quiet, which makes it as great spot for working. There are 2-3 tables with umbrellas on the patio and about 8 tables indoors. The staff is really sweet and friendly and they always recommend their favorite macaroons when I go there because I stand and stare at them for 50 hours and still cant seem to choose one. My favorite so fav is the Korean cheese macaroon. It's the perfect mix of sweet and salty, with a hint of cheese flavor. Best macaroon I've had so far. They are huge and fluffy, too, so it's an extra pleasurable experience to eat them! The coffee is delicious, too. They have a lot of non traditional drinks such as a sweet potato latte (it has chunks of sweet potato puree in it, GET IT) and a black sugar latter. The coffee is really great quality and is Jamacain Blue Mountain coffee. read more

I'm always conflicted with cafe reviews - do I judge solely on the menu, or do I judge solely on the interior? This cafe is pretty spacious with plenty of seating; however, it's not ideal seating as the tables are all right next to each other. Don't have any private conversations or meeting here because everyone can and will hear everything. I stopped by with my husband for the sweet potato latte with a friend's recommendation, but we were both a bit disappointed. It was one of the more expensive sweet potato lattes we've paid for, but it wasn't better than any of the others we've had. Maybe the coffee's better? For the longest time, I always avoided Orange Coffee Bar, because I just couldn't imagine orange flavor in my coffee. Yea, i'm a simple dude...fortunately someone's Green Tea Frappe caught my attention, and since I was in walking distance, I headed on in. I ordered their Green Tea Frappe ($4.49) with Whipped cream, as well as 3 Macaroons ($0.99 each). Starting with their Macaroons, I bought their Lemon, pistachio and coconut macaroons, and they seemed to be a little smaller than macaroons i've tried at other places, but they were also very soft, with barely a crunch when I bit down on them. Not a problem, just different than what i've experienced. Their lemon Macaroon was great, and had a strong citrus flavor to it that I really liked! The coconut and pistachio flavors weren't bad, but neither of them tasted very much like coconut or pistachio. Pistachio was my least favorite sadly, because pistachio macaroons ARE my favorite. The Green Tea Frappe, in terms of presentation, was great, really pretty right down to the green flecks on the whipped cream! Very smooth texture and the green tea flavor itself was just right, not so overpowering, but not watered down either. What I didn't like about it, and it's big for me, is there just wasn't much in the way of sweetness to me, and ultimately I had to add a couple of packs of sweetener to it to bring out the flavor and add a little sweetness when I got home. As others have mentioned, this is a Korean owned coffee shop, that's located off of old Norcross road, located in the McDaniel Square, home to other restaurants like Honey Pig, Kung Fu tea or MJ's, and depending on what time or day it is, parking can be a concern, but not most days. Customer service is just fine and helpful. Admittedly, I haven't actually tried the coffee Orange Coffee Bar sells, and I hope when I do they get an extra star from me, but for now it's a nice alternative to get your caffeine and sweets fix taken care of. read more

I absolutely adore this cafe! I'm half tempted to give it 5 stars - but I'll wait on that as this was only my first visit, but I'm sure it'll be there in no time! Aesthetically, Orange Coffee Bar seems to be your average Korean bakery - there's a fairly large dessert and pastry menu (the bingsu in particular is quite impressive - a must try!), ad well a quite comprehensive coffee and tea menu. We were both completely impressed by the care and precision of the preparation - not only is the presentation just lovely, but of great taste quality. The boyfriend has proclaimed it "the best coffee" he's ever tasted (and he's had his fair share). The green tea latte was no different - delicious, and the best I've had in awhile. The space is adorable, bright and cutesy, with a calming vibe. It's clear from the decor, they really do know and love coffee - there's an entire selection of various coffee "cookbooks" and other coffee related manuals. The staff was sweet and and our drinks were prepared efficiently but again with such impressive precision! I'm an avid coffee drinker and I love coming here to get a cup of cappuccino or a latte. This is a good alternative if you are tired of the Starbucks down the street. They make pretty good coffee. Not the best, but definitely pretty good. The interior is nice and has a good vibe to it. It's a bit small, but it doesn't get too busy I think. They have seats indoors and outdoors which was nice. Only problem would be that seating is more limited during the winter time. I also wish the seats were a bit more comfortable though. All the chairs and seats are wooden so I could see it getting uncomfortable if you are there for a long period of time. The service is good usually except for one time when the girl cashier had a mean look the whole time I was ordering but that could just be her normal facial expression... Overall I enjoy coming here. I decided to give this place a try anyways because it has always been on my to try list and I finally had the chance. I stop in with my guy friend and we ordered the following: -Kiwi Fruit Drink (4$ish) -Iced Green Tea Latte (4.99$) -Vanilla Macaron (.99cents) -Lemon Macaron (.99cents) At first when I saw the price for the macaron I thought it was very cheap since places like Mac Lab sells those for 2$ a piece. So I had to get it. It was an disappointment. The macaron was probably the size of a quarter...maybe a little bigger. Frozen...which I don't mind...but for the size.. I do mind. The taste is alright but won't be ordering that again. The two drinks we got tastes alright....nothing special. This is the closest thing a coffee connoisseur has to coffee paradise on Pleasant Hill with all the Asian cafes. I've been here a few times. The first couple of times my experience was just-ok, but now that i'm trying different coffees and really enjoying the beans, this place is great. Somehow every time I've come here it was raining outside, so I think that adds to my experience. Coffee shops are relaxing in the rain. I also love how they have a bunch of books about coffee. One day I want to come here and just skim their books. They have different types of beans and different types of preparing your coffee. The baristas really know their coffee well and that helped me to learn myself. In short: Professionally crafted coffee. Quality beans roasted on site. Good wifi and seating. Pleasurable atmosphere and service. Pricier than "normal" coffee, but very worth the difference. Highly recommended. First off, as a disclaimer, this coffee bar does not focus on getting your latte to you as fast as possible. If you're looking for a quick caffeine fix, then you should look elsewhere. Instead, Orange offers a wonderfully precise and full-flavored coffee by the barista Myung. In our conversation, he told me about his going to Korea be a licensed barista, learning the chemistry, physics, biology, and geography of good coffee (he was a Materials Science & Engineering major). His newly opened bar focuses on quality, craftsmanship, and detail. ATMOSPHERE: The general feel of the bar itself is appropriate. Dark wood furniture, coffee grinders, pots, and such everywhere, even a small book collection solely focusing on coffee. There are different types of seatings, such as bar seating, traditional table and chair, and lounge chairs, all for a different mood. SERVICE: The attentiveness of the employees themselves are good. The cashier doesn't make you feel rushed, and the barista puts on a good show. Note that most of the drinks will come in ceramic cups, which while are nice, do mean that they are not disposable. It was a bit unclear if it was a self clean table, but often times the bar workers will take your finished cups. QUALITY: The coffee here is unparalleled to any other coffee shop in the area, because there are so many options. The espresso machine is top notch, and the drip coffee is offered in three different methods (including Chemex and Dutch coffee). All of the methods yield a full-bodied coffee without any grounds burnt. Every detail is looked after. For the Chemex drip coffee, Myung kept the hot water at 190F, the ideal temperature to brew coffee, using a thermometer in a needle-nosed water kettle. He even warmed the cup itself so the coffee would not be too cold when it was poured into the cup. Even the espresso had a thick layer of crema sitting on top of it (the light foam-like substance on top), an indicator of good espresso. The beans they use aren't labeled as "House" or "Breakfast blend," but are all named by their origin. Kenya AA and other African grown beans have an earthier, more herbal taste. Their Central American beans are smoother and pleasant to the palette. Orange has their own bean roaster on site, so the beans are as fresh as you'll find. They offer a nice variety for your drip coffee. PRICING: Most of the items on the menu are more expensive than those found at other places selling coffee. A small cup of drip coffee depends on the market price of the beans used, so certain types will be more expensive than others. However, the method of brewing the coffee is where the premium lies, and is arguably worth the little extra that they ask for. In conclusion, Orange coffee bar is ideal for the businessman who wants to impress his or her client with some expertly made coffee, the student or who wants to find a pleasant atmosphere to work at and good drinks, and the casual group after dinner. Just an observation, knowing that this coffee shop is located in Duluth: Whoa, this place has many Korean patrons. No issues with this, but it did stand out to me. No worries, as the people at the register/coffee bar greeted me in English. Maybe it had something to do with the French guy I had in tow (because I have been spoken to in Korean at Hansel & Gretel, White Windmill, Mozart, Vincent, Tree Story, H Mart, Sweet Rice, the list goes on) but I was glad that I didn't have to look at anyone dumbly and say that I don't speak Korean. I wanted a green tea latte to cozy up with my book and I ordered the Tanzanian hand-brewed coffee for Mr. T. Right as I was getting ready to hand over my debit card, I eyed confectionaries, at which point, even though I had just eaten a bowl of ramen over at Umaido (during which I got really pissy, as my tablemates can attest to, because of less-than-stellar service... If you're going to lecture me about how the business is Japanese and in their culture, they don't have the syrupy-sweet demeanor of Americans, I'm going to tell you to shove... yeah, you already know the rest), I decided to give the almond sablé a whirl. Why the heck not, right? I mean, I need something to dip into my latte. Drinks were brought over to our table pretty quickly. Speaking of our table, we were right by the bookcase filled with coffee mugs and names. Can someone school me on why people would pay to have their own mugs held at the coffee shop? This is somewhat new, cute little cafe at the strip mall that also houses Naru, Honey Pig and MJ Tacos. Situated closer to the pleasant Hill rd in Duluth, which has myriad Korean cafes, the Orange coffee bar put it's own spin with unique design. I am somewhat wary of increasing number of cafe, modeled similar to the successful Sweet Hut and it's refreshing to see Orange coffee bar, does something different. There is plenty of parking at the complex, so I don't see that becoming problem. They have lots of iced and hot lattes, cappuccinos, variety of coffees, drip coffees and macaroons. It's not a trip well done this place, if you leave without sugar rush. Of course, you have a say in how much sugar goes into your drinks. On my visit, I just got myself iced green tea latte and I forgot to tell them to reduce sugar. Boy, it was quiet sweet when I had my first sip and then I got used to it soon. I liked it enough but not much to write home about. And I also ordered apricot, coconut and pistachio macaroons. The macaroons were served cold! The macaroons itself was crispy and nice, but the cream in the middle was kinda hard for my taste and I strongly suspect that it has to do with the temperature it was served. Leaving it on table for a bit might solve this problem, but if you are like me, just watching a macaroon without eating is harder than giving up life.. dramatic much? yes, but that's how it is! Sad to see the macaron ice cream sandwich discontinued... before I even got to try it. Wonder if it was good or not. Hmm. No bother, I really like Orange's iced green tea lattes, and there are a few other items I'd love to try given the chance--- the sweet potato latte, honey bread, and the honey dew shaved ice and a variety of random items on menu. One day! The cafe seems really well maintained and quiet, nothing particularly striking but with all the windows I think it'd make a nice afternoon & morning spot. I imagine on busier days the seating might go fast though as it's a rather small shop. THE FOOD Macron Ice Cream Sandwich (No longer available) They have various flavor choices of your macaron (orange, green tea, strawberry) and your choice of ice cream (vanilla and chocolate). However, sometimes they change the flavors. Unfortunately, they are not making them anymore as it states "Unavailable" on their menu which is sad because I think it's a pretty good (expensive) dessert. I tried the strawberry macaron with vanilla ice cream. I haven't tried the Honeydew Melon Shaved ice yet because every time I try to get it with a big group, it's packed so we just leave. Although, from a friend who has tried it, it is a bit bland but the red bean on top is sweet so it balances it out in a way. However, if you LOVE honeydew then try it. I'll have to order it and try it myself to update this review. The cafe is really nice, clean, and bright. Nicely lit however it's a bit small when it's crowded. Service is nice and polite so far. We were looking for a cute cafe to hangout after dinner. Somewhere not to crowded with dessert. The area is in a small plaza with a lot of popular places to eat kung fu tea, thank u chicken, honey pig, and MJ tacos. There was a Hispanic bar and grill next door that was crazy loud! It seemed like a club but after we did some research it was actually a bar and grill. Everyone ordered smoothies, and we ordered the frozen watermelon shaved ice dessert along with a hot green tea latte. The frozen watermelon was good but it's really pricey! $12.99!!! The green tea latte was also almost $5. It's a cute cafe, I don't think I'll be back maybe just to try some coffee. Also when you go into the bathroom the restaurant next door is so loud you can hear and feel the music. read more

This was my first time at this place with my friend we enjoyed everything and it was worth the price that your paying for. The honey bread was worth it and getting a lot for what you really payed for! I enjoyed every last bit of it. The ice cream was amazing and it was 12.99 but a good price because it's really big!! And you can share this with a group of people so it's a enough to share with everyone. I also got a Nutella latte that was really creamy and sweet. My friend got a sweet potato drink that was amazing. I highly recommend this place for breakfast or a quick snack great environment. I love Pleasant Hill for all of their little local coffee shops. This is by far one of my favorites. They actually put work into making their coffee. They have many different methods in brewing their coffee which I love. They put in work when it comes to their espresso drinks. Their latte art is wonderful. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. This coffee shop will forever be my favorite. Keep up the great work. They allow smoking outside and it's never loud inside. Although it's small their modern style makes it look large inside especially with all the windows and the light colors. I love the custom coffee mugs set out on one of their walls. Adds a touch of character. I haven't been able to try any food but it looks great from pictures. Will be back when it's not too cold to study, but until then I'll be enjoying the inside staying warm. read more

Excellent coffee. Having lived in Guatemala and worked in a coffee farm, I can vouch that they use authentic coffee that is real. Subtle roasted sour flavor was uncanny and fresh. Coffee like this is not easily found in this city full of commercialized cafés. Ask for market price-your best coffee on the menu then they will know what you came for.
