Very disappointing experience…read more I was really looking forward to this appointment, especially as a busy mom who does not get much time to carve out for myself, but unfortunately this was one of the worst massage experiences I have ever had. My massage therapist walked in through the front door five minutes after my appointment start time, already putting things off on the wrong foot. During the massage, she asked if I wanted more pressure and I said yes, but the massage remained extremely weak and half-hearted, often using only one hand. I began to suspect she was distracted or not fully present. Eventually, I could not ignore the feeling anymore. I told her I needed to use the restroom, got up, and when I checked, she was on her phone actively watching something and she tried hiding her phone under the sheet. At that point, I walked out without finishing the service. I was so uncomfortable and unhappy that I could not take another minute. While the front desk receptionist was kind, she was having an open conversation with another massage therapist, loudly discussing her neighbor and calling him a redneck, which felt highly unprofessional and inappropriate for a spa environment. To make matters worse, the bathroom felt neglected. The faucet handle did not work properly, and there was a half used open water bottle with no cap sitting on the shelf, which was unsettling and unsanitary. As I was leaving, she told me that management would call me to follow up, but I never received a call. Overall, the space did not feel relaxing, calming, or professional. I left feeling frustrated and upset that my time and money were wasted. It is incredibly disappointing when you finally make time for self care and are met with such poor service and lack of respect for the client experience. I truly hope management addresses these issues, because this was not acceptable.

I've never been one for massages. Usually, it's something I get guilted into while on…read morevacation--some overpriced, sterile "wellness" ritual peddled by hotel spas that care more about cucumber water and ambient flute music than actually fixing your back. You know the type: one-size-fits-all treatments with names like "Zen Renewal" or "Earth Embrace," run with the efficiency and warmth of a TSA checkpoint. But Massage Associates? Different story. No pretentious fountain gurgling in the lobby, no whispery receptionist pushing eucalyptus diffusers like they're selling snake oil. This place is raw, real, and refreshingly un-fancy. It's about the work--the grind, the muscle, the human connection. They ask questions, they listen, and they tailor the experience like they actually give a damn. Because they do. You're not just passing through. You're becoming part of something--a regular. And you're getting that at a price that doesn't make you hate yourself afterward. So if you're looking for the theatrical, the perfumed illusion of wellness... keep walking. But if you want the real deal--the kind of massage that works, not performs--then pull up a chair. Massage Associates gets it right.

I've been going to all types from resort spas, to Burke, and small local owned business throughout OC for over 20yrs, and let me tell you...THIS IS IT!!! I've experienced chronic back pain over the last few months and not only did Ta stretch and massage and help heal the pain, she went above and beyond and gave me some ideas of things to do at home in between massages (oh, you better believe I'll be going back!). All the therapists are licensed here which is why I went when I found even though I live in Irvine. They really care. I feel like a brand new person with a plan of action for this and a big thanks to them!!! Also, nice cozy location across from the mission. Overall, great experience and can't wait to go back! Yep, went back! Kora was amazing! These other reviews are justifiably singing her praises. I'm starting to think everyone here is amazing! Might have to go twice a month at this point

I was certain I'd have nothing but a stellar experience - so much so that I booked a 90 min deep tissue massage for my first time (normally I book 60 min when first trying out someplace as a precautionary measure). Taralai is no doubt on the "pricier" side for a no frills Thai massage ($140 for 90 min), but I was happy to pay a fair price for an exceptional massage. I don't want to name shame my masseuse but I booked with a gal that is repeatedly mentioned in reviews. Super sweet but has no intuition and flow. My massage felt mechanical and awkward - cracking my fingers and toes for example to fill time. She also took an unusually long bathroom break mid massage and I was already not enjoying it so I almost cut it off early. I also asked for no stretching yet she proceeds to put me in uncomfortable positions I eventually had to stop her. Also, I was flabbergasted at the end when paying that the suggested tip is in the range of 40%-60% of the massage. Perhaps if "happy endings" are offered this would only then make sense. I always tip 20% on a standard priced massage so I had to create a custom tip to do so. I have had many massages and this has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

The massages feel more personalized, like they're actually targeting muscles and specific areas rather than a routine. Not to mention the beds are comfortable, the blanket is heavier and nicer, it doesn't feel cheap and I don't feel exposed. On top of everything the prices are unbeatable!

However, she also did some weird things and put way too much power in areas that should not ever be massaged hard: bones, neck and head. At one point she was literally pulling my hair. It was very painful. And her massage movements were very fast and aggressive. If you're looking to relax this is not the place for you. But if you give them some direction and ask them not to massage your head with as much power as the back and also no hair pulling the you may have a much better experience than I did. Almost 2 days later my neck is still sore, my scalp still hurts...a lot. Also I got a bruise on my leg from her massage. I think her intent was good, helping with knots etc. but she lacks understanding of the human body. The way she just pour cold oil on me from the bottle and worked so hard. It was like she was aggressively cleaning a dead fish. I wish I could give them a better review but I honestly do feel a little traumatized from this experience

She told me it's gonna cost you $20 more for more pressure, for Past 10 years NO-ONE ever told me it's cost more money to do more pressure. I asked her since when ? She didn't say anything, later I asked her for name and she told me why do you need my name, I said acetone I come in I ask for the name of the person attending me, she didn't say her name. At the end of the massage I came to pay and gave her my 10 times card stamp they do, and finally she had to put her name on the card , I think it's Kim. Older lady built, very mad face, anyway, I wouldn't want to go there because I can give my money to some other small business who actually appreciate my business, just wanted for entire to know, I'm not a bad reviewer , I normally our a lot of reviews, a bad review unless it really was bad,

My husband and I had a 90 couples message and our masseuses were Ida and Kim. It was AMAZING!!! I told her I had the most pain in my upper back and requested medium pressure. The pressure was PERFECT! The best massage EVER. I feel like most massages I get feel usually very painful and I find myself tense for most of the massage (I know I can always ask for less pressure so that's partially on me. And I also know my body is generally very tight and sensitive). This massage was the most perfect blend of relaxation and (good) pain. I loved the focus on my different pressure points. I found that I really melted into the massage more when I exhaled when she applied pressure. I could really feel the tension get released! I also enjoyed the last half hour where we did the stretching portion. It felt so nice to be stretched!! There was a small bit where they used hot stones. And keep in mind that wearing underwear during the massage is optional, but all your other clothes come off. After the massage, they offered us water/tea and pineapple. I felt soooo good afterwards! My body felt loose and I could tell my range of motion was better. I'd love to come back again!!! Thank you Ida and Kim!
