I'm giving this school a 3 star completely honest review as a parent and as a preschool teacher that works in a school environment. Kindergarten and first grade teachers and front desk were amazing. When it comes to other staff like after school teachers and as I interact with the staff they were mentioning to me that upon hiring they did not received a background Check which is mandatory by the state of California in order to work with kids, they also never mention prior to enrollment that behind the school there's a half way house, and they hire staff from the hallway house to work for the after school daycare this is very concerning as a parent.I've witnessed an after school employee because they are not teacher scream at a kid in-front of all the kids. IN ORDER TO WORK WITH KIDS EVERYONE NEEDS TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK. read more

Our children moved to this school when our small private Christian school closed down. It had been 3 years now and We couldn't be happier. As a parent we want to equip our children with not only academics, but the spiritual guidance to make it in this world. I advise any parent looking to equip their child with a Christian world view to try this school out. They don't push religion, but they do reinforce WHY God in their lives are important. Fully accredited and our daughter had no issues being accepted into several colleges. This is a great alternative to any public school! read more

This school has been amazing! The staff and teachers are awesome! My grandchild's first year and she loves it! Ms. Taylor is a great teacher and she loved all her students. Thanks for caring! :) So we were kinda forced to bring her here and thank God we knew Mrs. Jang whom we love, and she gave us some feedback on the school. It was really the only school locally that was open during the pandemic.. gratefully we made it through the year with no problems. She learned about Jesus and the Bible and that was really a bonus for us! We definitely would love to keep her here if God willingly, it works out! read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. Do not send your kids here. I attended from kinder to 6th grade and now I am a full grown adult. One of the other Yelp reviews mentioned they run a sober home program which is true. Staff members from that program volunteer as the people who watch over the kids in the yard. I suffered physical, verbal, & mental abuse during my time here. It also as previously stated does not prepare you for junior high let alone even high school. The amount of bullying that would take place and the little disregard for the kids is sickening. Do not repeat do not send your kids here. Most of the good reviews are written by staff members. The bad reviews are written from actual people who attended here. My kid/ kids I've known who were sent here were better off not there. My best decision was to leave this school as it really DOES NOT offer true Christian values if you are looking for a school that does such. read more

I attended this school from 2001-2006. Preschool to fourth grade. I can't tell you how much I loved this school. I learned a lot about God and I gained a lot of skills that would help me through my spiritual life and school life . I'm afraid of going back because I might break down. I attended 2nd grade all the way til 7th. After getting down on my hands and knees and begging my parents, I finally transferred over to Western right across the street and left behind, like, 2 of the remaining classmates. Sure, I've enjoyed many experiences at this school but it definitely did not prepare me for high school. I don't want to go into my bad ones but I do really love (some) of the teachers there. Other than that, the school is incredibly small and they don't have a cafeteria. Many of the students lack manners and a true Christian attitude. Definitely not the best environment for your kids. read more

They implement an excellent curriculum which is relevant and rigorous and that challenges each student to perform at their highest level. The school is WASC accredited. My 2 1/2 year old daughter used to go here and I highly recommend it! You definitely get what you pay for in a private smaller Christian school. My daughter learned some valuable lessons in life, including socializing with other kids their age and going to the bathroom! They also provide snacks, lunch, and naps for all the kids. If your child has the opportunity to go here, I would highly recommend Ms. Jill. She is very caring and provides one on one interaction with your child; Definitely someone you can trust to take care of them when you're not there. We are now in the Yorba Linda-Placentia school district and honestly, it fails in comparison to OCCS! read more

It's a sheltered school that your kids shouldn't be brought with. I attended jr high. And we played spin the bottle. Which is an innocent game. The parents went insane. Even cheating during tests. It's like. Come on. I did this in public school. It's sad how they shove the bible and shelters the kids are. read more

Orange County Christian School is a wonderful school full of caring and compassionate teachers! I have had a wonderful experience there. The school is a closed campus and each parent/visiting adult is required to sign in at the front desk with Jennifer! This school has made it a priority to keep my children safe and I commend them for the environment they have created. In addition, the curriculum is solid and well-balanced! They even offer brief Spanish lessons in elementary school! I could not be more pleased with the professionalism of every staffer and their amazing Christian attitude towards others. read more

I went to this school as a kid and absolutely loved it. Even though it was only for a few years, I always wished I had been able to continue my schooling there. I love the Christian values and ethics they follow, while also providing a superior education. The teachers were wonderful and great at working with the students one on one when it was needed. If it were possible I would have my daughter go to that school, but unfortunately we live across the country now. Thank you OCCS for a wonderful start to my academic career! read more

I love this school! I was recommended by a friend who used the school 7 years prior. My daughter attended from 2-5 years old and my son currently attends for the last year and a half. Ms. Stephanie is the director and Ms. Sara is the assistant director and 5 year old teacher. What can I say but amazing.... Also, a wonderful lady is Ms. Kathy! She has been both of my children's teachers and has become a friend. If you have an option of going here I would recommend giving your child this nurturing environment. I can't thank them enough for taking care of, teaching and loving my kids. read more

After reading some of the jaded reviews below, which sound more like immature kids venting on social media, I felt it important to help the yelp community see the other side of the coin and make their own fair assessment. I attended OCCS from Kindergarten thru 12th grade and can speak from first hand knowledge as to the quality of this CHRISTIAN school. Like many students before me, I did not always like my parents insistence on me attending a small school. My agenda was often influenced by my peers who wanted the fun surface fluff that public schools could offer (i.e.: sports, dances, etc.). I did not appreciate The FACT that Parents sacrifice to send their kids here because their kids SPIRITUAL welfare is important. Years after attending here, I am still friends with many of the Staff here. Although no one in the universe is perfect, I can attest to the fact that educating your children and truly preparing them for the world is at the HEART of what this SCHOOL STANDS for... If you want to be your kids best friend, then sure, give into their every whim and see how far that gets them in developing a life of character. If you want to give them a FIRM foundation, with an understanding of LOVING OTHERS and seeking TRUE FULFILLMENT, consider visiting Orange County Christian School. I went to this school a while ago for a year and a half during high school and I absolutely hated everyday here. I was forced to transfer here and I begged my parents to let me go to Western H.S. every single day. I'm now a mom and a wife in my late twenties and I have Christian beliefs and attend church but I'm not fond of forcing your children to attend a Christian school unless they want to, especially after being in public school all their life. I'm not sure how much the tuition was but my parents didn't have a problem paying it. The high school class was VERY small. Maybe like 30 kids, if that. You don't get to do things that a normal high school would offer, like sports, cheerleading, a wide variety of after school clubs to join, dances and honestly just the normal fun that high school offers. You don't get those special high school memories that live with you in old age. You get boredom and people trying to shelter you from the "outside" world. I don't think that sheltering kids from the real world is good for them because first of all they're not dumb and second what happens when they turn 18 and head out into the real world? Anyways, we had to wear uniforms and the school seemed a bit rundown. Two of my classes weren't even held in real classrooms. My english class was held in what they called their "chapel" and we had one long rectangular table pushed between 2 pews that were facing eachother and that was our desk that we all shared together. There was no cafeteria, only one small kitchen that was run by 1 lady and they served random food like cup o noodles and chimichangas that you pay for individually. No full lunch meals. Also when I went here, I was informed that not all of my credits earned were transferable to college and wouldn't even count. When I finally got to Western high school my sophomore year I found out that I was short some credits because Orange County Christian School's chapel class didn't count for anything, but was mandatory there. I was missing a health class that should've been taken my freshman year and I was behind and had to make it up in summer school. If you're going to send older children to private school I would recommend a bigger school with more credibility. For example one from the Calvary Chapel branches. High school students need to be around alot of kids their age, not just 15 other students. They also need a wide range of after school activities, sports and clubs to choose from. Once I got to Western high school, I played basketball and softball and then became a Varsity cheerleader. I joined a few clubs and made life long friends. And I now have great memories of high school dances and fun times that I will remember forever. And I met my husband there as well. High School is an important time in a person's life so I encourage parents to make the right decision for their kids when choosing what school to put them in. read more
