Then they said they weren't' comfortable working w/patient w/Parkinson's. I found a new dentist and oral surgeon for him. A few months later I rec'd a call confirming an appt for him. I had to explain to them that THEY had told me months ago that they weren't comfortable working on him due to the Parkinson's tremors. The new dentist I found for him was so much more professional appearance, office decor and friendly, that I decided to use them as well. Smile a Bit, claimed they took my mom's insurance and worked on her in 2025. Suddenly, in 2026 they claimed they had no insurance documentation for her and that she must've dropped her insurance...she had not. I resubmitted it to them and when she went in for a cleaning (1st cleaning of the year) they said they had to charge her $75 and that all her work would have to be out of pocket. This didn't sound right because they claimed that they accepted Aetna Medicare. Called Aetna and they told me, that office and doctor was NOT "in Network". The doctors name I offered from that Highland Mills office is not the name that Aetna had on file, nor was a doctor by that name in that office. Therefore, I've just now moved my mom to our new dentist in Stoney Point as well. Aetna coverage for "IN NETWORK" dental is that they'll pay for the first $750. After that, it would be OOP. I was told by the SAB staff that their practice IS "in Network." That was wrong according to Aetna Medicare For this region. Bottom line: the administrative staff was very pleasant, but the business side of things and the office's physical appearance needs a lot of work.

Coral the woman at the desk overcharges and does not adhere to insurance Guidelines for procedure charges, she is condescending and totally unprofessional. I feel I was literally robbed as I paid cash for uncovered work and found out later it was covered and i was way overcharged, The office is dated and if I wasnt in such need for a broken tooth to be repaired I should have trusted my instinct and had moved on. NEVER AGAIN!

I had high hopes for Dr. Scott Schwartz because he seemed very professional, kind, and personable…read more My husband recommended him and took me to his office after I broke a crown and developed pain in another tooth. After taking X-rays and examining my mouth, Dr. Schwartz found several other cavities. I appreciated the thorough examination. However, I explained very clearly that, due to my financial situation, I only wanted to address my two urgent problems: my broken crown and the tooth that was causing me pain. I planned to take care of the other issues later when I could afford them. Unfortunately, I felt that my wishes were not respected. The day I came in for my dental cleaning with Renata, who was absolutely wonderful and very kind, I wasn't sure whether I would feel well enough to begin dental treatment afterward. When I scheduled my cleaning, I had explained that I would decide that day depending on how I felt. However, I was told by the receptionist that if I didn't start treatment that same day, I would have to pay a significant portion of the fee again because my appointment couldn't be changed. I felt pressured into proceeding, even though I wasn't comfortable. The most upsetting part happened when Dr. Schwartz numbed a tooth that wasn't bothering me and prepared to begin treatment there instead of on the tooth that was actually causing me pain. I stopped him and asked, "Why are you working on this tooth? I specifically asked you to treat the painful tooth first." I had made my priorities very clear from the beginning, yet I felt they were ignored. Instead of listening to what I wanted and what I could afford, I felt the treatment plan was driven by what the office preferred rather than by my immediate needs. I left the office heartbroken, disappointed, and upset. My mouth was numb from the injection, and I could barely speak. More than anything, I felt unheard. Every patient deserves to have their concerns listened to and their treatment priorities respected, especially when financial limitations are clearly communicated. While I found the staff member Renata to be exceptional, my overall experience with Dr. Schwartz left me feeling that my wishes were not respected, and because of that, I cannot recommend him based on my personal experience.

So as you can imagine you will find all your dental needs at this office. We find that the doctors at this office do a really good job with cavities, teeth cleaning, etc. I've had another barbaric dentist from another town over leave me with a bad bite from a terrible cavity fill and this office was able to help me with correcting that. My family gets regular dental check-ups here and cleanings. The office is very large, clean, neat and even has it's own finance department to help you understand the costs that you will incur which I really like this way nothing is a surprise. They give you the option to decide if you can afford the services and/or arrange some kind of payment option. The only thing I don't like about the office is that the doctor's are always trying to up sell another service or recommending something that may not be of urgency. If they could they would probably keep us visiting them on a regular basis. Otherwise we really like this dental office and the doctors. A++

Recently moved to the area and got a coupon for a "comprehensive exam, Cleaning and X - Rays (as…read moreneeded)" for $75. When I called to schedule an appointment, I mentioned I didn't need the x-rays assuming that it wouldn't matter anyway ("as needed"). Was told that the coupon would not be honored and I would have to pay $95 for the cleaning. Oh. Okay...I schedule the appointment anyway. A day goes by. I think about it. Why would I have to pay more for doing less? I called back and explained that I didn't need the x-rays and that it didn't make sense to charge me more for doing less than what is listed on the coupon. The receptionist Lauretta insisted I would need to do the x-rays as part of the comprehensive exam. I explained again- no cavities ever, no need for X-rays. Don't want the radiation. She wouldn't budge- no x-rays no coupon...so I cancelled my appointment. Was genuinely surprised that they wouldn't want a new customer simply because I didn't want more radiation blasted at me unnecessarily. No cavities, no pain, no need. Disappointing interaction and if they're that sketchy about honoring the coupon, I wouldn't want to deal with them anyway. Go figure.

This was due to him not being able to locate the cause of pain, as he claimed he had filled all cavities and that it can take up to "two weeks for the nerves to not be sensitive" post-filling. Eventually, he said I might need a root canal. Well, after wasting an incredible amount of time and gas I ended up finding another dentist. They located the hole in my filling and filled it, as well as the other cavities. They told me that was the source of pain and that I definitely didn't need a root canal. I don't have the issue anymore, it was fixed in one visit with another dentist. I was also told I had periodontitis and would require deep cleanings every 3 months. This was also false, as confirmed by other dentists I saw shortly after. My teeth are actually in great shape. When I called them to get my records, they tried to tell me they couldn't "release" them to me. I ended up getting them anyway. Horrible team and staff. They're CON ARTISTS.

Dr. Rachel Wheaton, Harriman Family Dental 4-7-2026 My…read moredentist of 30+ years retired recently, so I am looking for a new one. This morning a filling came out, so it seemed like a good time to see a dentist. I had an appointment with Harriman Family Dental, Harriman, NY, near where I live this morning. The office staff is great, and the dental hygienist was excellent; very thorough and professional. I was seen briefly by Dr. Rachel Wheaton, one of the dentists on staff. Dr. Wheaton recommended 4 new crowns, which surprised me since I had just been examined by my old dentist 6 months ago. One of the crowns recommended would address the hole in my tooth from the filling that came out this morning. There was no offer of a shorter term, less expensive solution for the problem that brought me to the Harriman Dental office; only a $1657 crown. I indicated that I couldn't do new crowns right now and left for home. I later called to speak with Dr. Wheaton, but she was at lunch. I asked for her to return my call. Later I received a call from the receptionist who said Dr. Wheaton asked me to return to the office for a "consultation" and did not want to do a "consultation" over the telephone. I asked the receptionist to confirm that the doctor was unwilling to do a repair on the tooth, and her reply through the receptionist was that I needed a crown, a repair would not be permanent, and she would not do a restoration. So I am left with a hole in my tooth and a sharp edge until I can afford a crown; and I am less than pleased that Dr. Wheaton would not call me to answer my question. Allan E. Harriman, NY
