They were out of the potato skins, so ordered nachos instead pick through them. Also had an order of chicken wings that were overcooked and dripping of grease. Decent sports bar with pub fare and a couple housemade brews like the pilsner and the citrusy Pom Pom on tap. Burgers, sweet potato fries, fried pickle nickels, and Chix tenders all very tasty. Some served with "crate sauce," a light orange dip/spread with a slight kick and a nice complement to your food. Order food at the bar and they text you when it's ready to pick up at the end of the bar. Under 21 can eat in there until evening sets in. Crazy loud party bar unlike any of the other hundreds of craft breweries I've been to. We stopped in after the SU game in hopes of watching other college football games and enjoy somelocal brews. They did have a few of the games up on the TV's but crazy loud party music blaring and the noise of the college crowd made it difficult to actually follow any game. The bartenders didn't really know their own brews among the many other brands they also sell and we got 2 different answers about what they were selling of their own brews. It was elbow to elbow in the bar room and a fight to even get up to the bar to try and order drinks. The couple brews we had were decent but hard to enjoy in this environment. This is a great bar for not only students, but locals to go to. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, they have set lots of regulations in place to keep customers safe and I have never felt uncomfortable going here. They offer great happy hour deals from 4-7pm, including deals on specific days of the week after 7pm! You do have to order food when you come so if you aren't hungry, get the fries for $6 because they are the cheapest thing on the menu. The staff enforces wearing masks when you are not seated at your table and I have seen them approach people and tell them to put on masks. Additionally, if it is a busy night expect to wait a little bit for your food/drinks, but overall great bar! read more

I think it was because we were in Syracuse during the Thanksgiving weekend but we couldn't find a bar for the life of us that was open except for this place. The staff are pretty friendly here but you'll have to head up to the bar to grab refills. Drinks aren't super cheap as I would have expected only because this seems like the local college dive bar. The place was empty and 30 minutes later is was absolutely packed with all kinds of hilarious people from Syracuse. I wouldn't really come back but if you're hard up for a drink post game and it's late at night, you could do much worse! read more

Cold beer and great wings and fries. However, be forewarned -- if you get the "hot" buffalo wings, bring a bucket of ice to cool down your lips. They are surface-of-the-sun hot. We traveled to Syracuse to visit our son for the last senior basketball game. We decided to go in to the Orange Crate for a few drinks after the game. We got a round of 3 drinks and saw that the total was $31.50, which is fine; HOWEVER, we saw that the bartender added an auto-gratuity of 15%, again, fine. Then he added TWO additional gratuities to our bill! That is a $15 tip for 3 drinks. This is an unacceptable practice! Maybe they did that because we are parents? Do they also do this to our children that attend Syracuse that may not pay attention to his/her receipt? We brought this up to the manager and she said she would credit us back the entire bill and re-charge our credit card the proper amount. Upon checking our bill, all she did was charge another $40 and did not credit anything. We paid $89.48 for three weak drinks!! LOOK AT YOUR BILL PEOPLE! read more

So this review is kind of mixed. I would give a 5 star for the location, but probably a 3 star for what they offer. I read another review that said that this is not a safe place to go. I can tell you that I have never had any issue with it being safe at all! This area is suited perfectly on top of SU hill, so your going to be surrounded by fun loving students and people who are just looking to have a good time. It's a bar. There will be sketch people at times and that happens everywhere. What I love about coming here is that you can get decent drinks for a while with friends. Then head out and around the corner get some great food, maybe some Insomnia cookies, or just walk around the block safely. If you feel like drinking some more, then you can just swing back here and never have to worry about your DD moving your car. I love anything that shows Orange love, so huge kudos to them. read more

This is not a safe place to go to at all! It's a low end place with a very bad management and employees. In this place there are a lot of harassment going on especially on weekends at night when younger students go there but unfortunately the security and management in that place does not do anything. Some people exchange drugs there! I called to report this to the manager, a woman picked up the phone, I assumed she was the hostess. She insisted to know why I want to talk to the manager but I didn't think that was any of her business, therefor I didn't tell her, then she hung up the phone on me! After she hung up, i called several times but she didn't pick up the phone. I called the police to report this matter but the police was even worst than them! They said to leave a message! I believe they moved this place recently from next door considering they are doing a lot of construction putting in new apartments. Mom and I stopped by here before the SU game (GO ORANGE!!) To grab a beer. Place was really nice inside, brought out the Syracuse sports theme along with some other colleges. I ordered this beer which is known as a IPL. Basically a mix between a IPA and Lager, it also had a vanilla orange taste among it which was really good. Definetly a nice place to check out before game time! read more

When I was at school, this was Bruegger's Bagels and that was fine. 20 years later it's a great place to grab a pint and watch some football! Great selection of craft beers like Middle Ages and others from the area, as well as others from across the country. Went twice in our time there and enjoyed every minute. Love this place! My sister and I were in town from Pittsburgh for a wine conference and wanted to check out a local spot. Our bartender Rance was fantastic. There were a lot of regulars when we were there and Rance knew everyone's drinks, and he was very knowledgeable about all of the beers they had on tap. Your typical "small town" college bar. A few blocks off of the SU campus, near Carrier Dome. Place definitely gets packed after a CUSE game. Like unable to move packed considering the spot is kind of small. But it's not the worst place I've been. It has TVs on every wall, cheap drinks, co-Ed's everywhere & an outdoor patio in the back. If you aren't down to chill with a young crowd, this bar isn't for you. Go to Clinton Street Pub or Al's Whiskey Lounge in Armory Square for an older crowd. read more

Limited food menu... Ordered chicken tenders and fries. The chicken wasn't even cooked all the way! It was bright pink on the inside, and you could tell it wasn't cooked all the way because the breading on the outside was sliding off the chicken! Very disgusting. We returned the tenders and they did make us new ones. Still sick to our stomachs about the other ones. Will not be returning to this venue for food. Great location, cool interior, full of students, and friendly staff however the drinks are completely overpriced and the bar doesnt follow what it means to be over-capacity. They keep people coming in so that they can keep making $5.00 cover off of everyone. Bar gets so packed that you can barely move to even get a drink. Really frustrating. I attempted to play a song on the jukebox and the bouncer shamed me for having the audacity to think I knew what people my age would want to hear. I'm a senior at SU and people my age def like Linkin Park, and that bouncer was being a dick for telling me to check my head before making a request on the jukebox. If you don't want people to make a request, don't have the option available. The bar would not have cleared out if one non trap/pop song was played on the jukebox.
