The billing person tried to say I was due less of a refund than I was actually due (my portion according to allowable agreed insurance rates minus what I paid). I had to instruct them in how to calculate. To make matters worse, they told me they would send me the refund a month ago, and I haven't received it. I called them today to inquire, and the receptionist said she would have the billing person call me - which of course they did not. I have needed two root canals and had symptoms for another that Dr Currie diagnosed as something else. He was right and I did not need a root canal on that tooth. He and the whole staff at St. Johns Endodontics have been 100% kind, careful, caring and super competent! By far the best people I have ever had work in my mouth! I am 66 and retired after running a very large business that was focused on customer service across 2000 employees so I know what I'm talking about when I see great customer service like I've experienced with Dr Currie and St. Johns Endodontics!! And the building is beautiful inside with indirect lighting - great music - and wonderful art including some calming art on the monitors above your head while having a procedure done - first class all the way! The woman I spoke with insisted that it is their protocol to have a new CT scan done in new x-rays. You've got to be kidding me! In what world is that necessary? These new CT scan machines are the cats meow to the company that designed them and sells them and the doctors that buy them pay a pretty penny for him so I'm sure they want to pay for them. But not on me thank you very much that increased risk and unnecessary need. I'm kind of glad it went that way because I disagreed with getting two more root canals and all the expense that was going to go into my mouth when it made more sense to do two extractions and one bone graph and implant for the same price of a bunch of nonsense that would've hurt me in the long run. Every tooth I have ever lost came from having a root canal that weakened the tooth and ultimately required it to be extracted. Root canals are bad for you. Avoid them at every cost. I worked 20 years in the Dental field, and it was quite a while ago, but root canals are still done the same way, the risks are still the same. A lot of them are unnecessary and that hasn't changed either. Good luck to all of you but look at more updated repairs to your mouth.

They told me he was at the other location and had been for a number of weeks. Apparently the office I was sent to was unaware. Duh. The 7030 location was unappealing. That's why I dropped a star. The 7101 location is quite nice and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was referred by my Lake City dentist as my wife needed some specialized care. I chose this dentist because he is in my Delta Dental network. I drove from Dowling Park and it was well worth the trip. Our appointment was for 2PM and we were early. My wife's X-ray was not forwarded there because the first office I originally spoke with gave me the incorrect email address. Duh again. I called and had it re-sent. All is good. We waited till about 2:30 to get called which is normal for an afternoon appointment and another 20 minutes or so to be seen by Dr Olson. Prior to that we had a dental assistant who was very knowledgeable as well as friendly and came in and out a number of times. Dr Olson came in and right away I felt we had come to the right place. He was friendly and outgoing and quickly ascertained my wife's problems and solved the first one without difficulty and assured us he was confident we wouldn't have a reoccurrence. The second problem was a upper plate held in by four implants that was slipping out. The two front abutments were seriously worn and would need replacement. I need to research the manufacturer and size of the implants to get the correct parts. I never thought I should have written this information down when she first had the implants done maybe 20 years and three states ago. A word to the wise. Write it down! Seeing a Prosthodontist is like seeing any other specialist. The staff sets the patients up and the doctor goes from one to the next. After Dr Olson was sure he was finished with us and we were happy, he informed his assistant he was going on to the next patient and left her to finish the paper work. Though we live almost a 2 hour drive away we will return to have any other work done on her dentures as we are confident that we are getting quality as well as friendly care. I'll wait for my EOB from Delta Dental to comment on the billing departments charge for my co-payment.

I've been back twice since my dental surgery and am really, really happy I found this dental office. I went for a cleaning (my first in probably 15 years) a couple weeks ago, and my hygienist, Nadia, was wonderful. She was super empathetic about my gag reflex and worked with me on ways to minimize it while doing X-rays. She was also super communicative with me about the other steps of the exam so that I wasn't caught off guard by anything. Dr. Le is fantastic. He was kind and conversational, and he conveyed information without being condescending. I really appreciated that he suggested a more conservative approach to the issues I had as opposed to jumping straight to a root canal. I came back a couple weeks later for a couple fillings, and my experience with light sedation was amazing. I took oral medication before arriving and was set up with nitrous once I arrived. Dr. Le and the hygienist (Patrice, I believe) were again fantastic. While I don't think I completely fell asleep, I was definitely zoned out for a big chunk of it and felt super calm. For someone with PTSD and a fear of needles, that's an unbelievable feat. Speaking of needles, when possible, they use a special machine that makes the lidocaine injection so much more comfortable that I was barely even aware of it being used. One final note: the front office staff is great, too. They are highly communicative and easy to get in touch with. And I've never had to wait in the waiting area for more than a few minutes. (I'm sure exceptions to that happen, but I'd feel confident it's in emergency situations and not an everyday habit the way it can be at other offices.)

Carlson dental group is amazing. They are careful, thorough, gentle, mindful, and quick all at the same time. Never more than a 5 minute wait any time I've been there. I've NEVER had them "recommend" work that didn't need to be done or try to tack on extra services that are not needed. They always ask if I have any concerns and completely answer those concerns before proceeding to complete the routine services that I am there for. I've been lucky enough to remain with the same hygienists (Amy & Tyra) the entire time I've been a patient there. They have become great friends and THAT is the kind of healthcare we should all be so lucky to have!! The docs are fantastic, as well. I've not needed one for anything other than a routine exam........... but they have still been professional and "human" as opposed to stiff and "clinical!' HIGHLY RECOMMEND CARLSON DENTAL GROUP!!!
