I came in looking for an off-the-rack dress for a city hall ceremony followed by photos in Central Park. This was clearly outlined in my intake form and repeated multiple times during the appointment. Instead of being met with guidance, Aracely opened the appointment by telling me I had "done this the wrong way" by not shopping earlier and immediately set the tone that I would have little to no options. That is not helpful, and frankly not an appropriate way to speak to a bride at the start of what should be an exciting experience. What made it worse was that she didn't listen. Despite explaining my plans several times, she continued suggesting things that were completely irrelevant to my situation like bustles, dance floors, and reception entrances. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted to understand what was actually available off the rack so I could make a decision within those constraints, and that information was never clearly provided. The most unprofessional moment was overhearing Aracely call me "difficult" to my own mother while I was in the dressing room. My mother was understandably livid and had to step in to correct her, explaining that I am easygoing and just needed someone to actually help me navigate my options. Being spoken about that way, especially within earshot and to my mother of all people, was completely inappropriate. I made the trip from NYC specifically for this location because of its larger selection, and instead of leaving excited, I left upset and discouraged. This appointment completely changed the tone of my day. The dresses themselves were beautiful, but the experience was dismissive, unhelpful, and rude. Bridal appointments should feel supportive and collaborative. This was the opposite.

It was my first day of wedding dress shopping, and as a less than "girly" girl I was pleased to try on a lot of beautiful options that didn't make me feel like a cupcake. I also did not want the pushy bridal experience common in the NYC salons and most boutiques. They had over a dozen design options in my budget, which was amazing. Not worth taking off a star, but my only lament is to the color selections; all of the dresses I loved were marketed as rehearsal dinner or reception options, and were not available in white. I ended up buying a white Maggie Sottero gown and had it customized down the road at Sukran's Bridal (sorry, BHLDN!) Overall it was a great place for a first shopping experience to discover the shapes, styles, and colors I was interested in, and take some fun pictures for my friends and family.

However, my mind was immediately put at ease when my appointment started at the Plumed Serpent. Everyone was so friendly when my mom, my sister and I came in. We were shown to the dressing area and offered water (which they brought out in champagne flutes - so cute). Next to the couch there was a sign saying Reserved for Katie, which I thought was such a nice touch! The whole shop is bright, beautiful and clean. Krissy really made my whole appointment not only easy, but truly enjoyable. As I mentioned, I wasn't really looking forward to my appointment after my experience at a different shop, but Krissy completely turned my mood around. She made me feel comfortable and beautiful! She was cheerful, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I really cannot speak highly enough of Krissy! At the beginning of my appointment, Krissy looked through my Pinterest board with me and asked about my budget. I appreciated that she was so respectful of my budget; she only pulled dresses that were within my price range. Krissy really understood what I was looking for just from the pictures I showed her. As I tried on each dress, she took my feedback and applied it in the next dress she'd show me. I was really impressed by her! At the end of my appointment I felt that I had found the dress I loved, but I wanted to sleep on it. Krissy was absolutely understanding of that and never pressured me to make a decision on the spot. I really appreciated that! The next morning I e-mailed Krissy to let her know I'd definitely found my perfect dress. She responded quickly and answered a few last questions I had. I am typically a huge sparkle girl, but I let Leo know I was hoping to go for more of a modern style while keeping it form fitting to wow my husband to be! I instantly fell in love with all the Ines Di Santo designs, and knew the Selene dress was the one once I tried it on and looked in the mirror. My mom, godmother & mother in law were already in tears seeing how perfect it fit me and how it was everything I had envisioned! Since she knew I loved a sparkle element, she also found me the most perfect veil full of Swarovski crystals that added the element I wanted Not only did Plumed Serpent help me find my dream dress, but once I heard they had an in house seamstress, I knew this was my place. From my first alteration appointment, I knew working with Lissa would be a dream - she had the same eye for perfection as me, and we were on the same page for everything! She made sure my dress fit me perfectly for my big day, leaving me with zero worries. She even added multiple bustle options so I had choices depending on how I felt on my wedding day! All night I kept hearing compliments on how it looked like the dress was truly made for me. I emailed on Friday when I didn't have any shipping information and then I get an email Saturday morning saying it shipped on Friday. This is after they sent a note on Tuesday that dresses were in which means I reminded them to ship the damn dress when I emailed them. They are closed on Sunday and Monday, so I have no one to talk to - shipping is signature only and it's going to my apartment w/ no doorman. Had I known that, I would have shipped to a FedEx location or my work! They suck, my friend is freaking out and honestly she should not have to have this stress at this point. How hard is it to put a dress in a box and ship it out? How hard is it to respond to an email in a timely fashion? This is how you get awful reviews. Bad customer service. Save your sanity, don't go here.
