Well, here's my bad review for this place. I have my friends wedding next Sunday and I still have not gotten my dress. I emailed on Friday when I didn't have any shipping information and then I get an email Saturday morning saying it shipped on Friday. This is after they sent a note on Tuesday that dresses were in which means I reminded them to ship the damn dress when I emailed them. They are closed on Sunday and Monday, so I have no one to talk to - shipping is signature only and it's going to my apartment w/ no doorman. Had I known that, I would have shipped to a FedEx location or my work! They suck, my friend is freaking out and honestly she should not have to have this stress at this point. How hard is it to put a dress in a box and ship it out? How hard is it to respond to an email in a timely fashion? This is how you get awful reviews. Bad customer service. Bella Bridesmaid in Westport, CT has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Maggie and Jojo have been wonderful!!! I went in with my best friend to look at maid/matron of honor dresses as well as bridesmaid dresses. Jojo took the time to help me with my vision and made it simple and fun. She walked me through the process and taught me about the selection of dresses: with beading/sequins, no beading, chiffon dresses, etc. We looked at a variety of colors and different styles that can be coordinated with one another. She has been patient throughout the entire process and has answered all of my questions. I'd also like to mention that I live in NY and when my girls go in for their measurements in Westport, CT Jojo and I will Facetime so that I can make sure that my girls love their dresses. Maggie, the Owner, has responded to all of my emails within a day of me sending them. She is very organized and has guided me through a series of websites to select our dresses. She also makes sure that they have the dresses in the store when the girls go in for their measurements so they can see it for themselves. I cannot speak highly enough about these two women. They don't answer the phone during regular business hours. If you walk in there they refuse to even let you look through the racks of dresses that are out in the open. Update- I deleted some of my original post. I did have one of my bridesmaids make an appointment. The young lady that helped us was nice enough. She was working alone. Not sure if we found the dress but there were definitely several options. If you have a lot of bridesmaids this may not be the place to bring them all. Also, they don't carry many larger sizes. Most of my bridesmaids are pretty busty and I only brought my aid of honor. I ended up having to try on most of the dresses we wanted to see myself, which wasn't very helpful since I am way smaller than any of my bridesmaids so I couldn't really picture the dresses on them. If you want to visit, make your appointment online. Calling is impossible. Update #2- it took about a week for me to get the email she promised to send the next day with the options. I'm wondering if o should take heed from all of these bad reviews and not take the risk of spending loads of money here and run into trouble down the line... read more

I have never posted a review on yelp before, but I was so disappointed with the service, that I felt compelled to write something. I definitely agree with the the review below from Kelly S. I had a very similar experience. The saleswoman talked me into buying a size that was about 2 sizes too big for me. When I told her that I had never worn that size before, she told me that these dresses ran very small and that everyone ordered one to two sizes up. I was still skeptical, but I was told, repeatedly, that if the dress came back too small, they would not be able to do anything for me. Accordingly, I took their advice. When I got the dress a few weeks later, it was, unsurprisingly, really big for me. I just came back from the tailor and it will cost an additional $150.00 to have the dress altered. The dress itself cost $250.00. The tailor was surprised that a store, which specializes in bridesmaids dresses, recommended that I get a dress that was two sizes too big. Unfortunately, even with alterations, I'm afraid that the dress won't look quite right. The bust has cup inserts, which were made for someone bigger than I am. Getting those removed and replaced would almost double the cost of the alterations, so I decided to just leave them as is. Aside from the sizing issue, I also found that the staff was unfriendly and rushing to get clients in and out of the store. I got married myself a couple of years ago and none of my bridesmaids had such a difficult time getting a dress that fit them. This is definitely not the current standard for the industry. After searching about 4 other bridal shops in the Westchester/Connecticut area, I stumbled upon Bella Bridesmaids in Westport. We made an appointment and the lady who helped us was amazing. She was patient, honest, and so helpful. She pulled about 20+ dresses for me to try on that day and not once did I feel pressured to buy something or rushed. We ended up staying well past our appointment time. Since we were having trouble narrowing it down to one dress she gave us the option of coming back on a Sunday when the store was closed with the rest of the bridal party. We ended up doing that and we were able to get a 15% discount as a sale was running at the time. We were told the dress would take about four months to come in however it only took two which was great. We had no problem picking up the dresses and all of them were perfect including size and color. I can't recommend this place enough. I will be coming back here one day for my wedding! read more

Like many other reviewers, I too have also never written a bad review on Yelp but felt I had to. This place is the worst. I've been a bridesmaid a total of 5 times before and I've never once had to get my dress resized- the stores have always had sizes to try on or adequately measured me. This store did not have either. The saleswoman measured me and told me I needed a size 6. I've been a 0 or 2 since high school. We finally agreed on a 4, as she kept explaining the sizes ran small. She also insisted that I needed to pay extra for extra length, as I'm tall. This was despite the fact that I tried on a normal dress (size 8, which swam on me) and length was fine. Dress came in and it was massive and incredibly long. Of course, now she refers me to their "preferred" tailors. The dress had so many issues due to size and length that I've had to go back to tailors about 5 times. Ended up costing me almost the same as the dress. Almost feel like it was a scam to give those tailors business. This store is the worst and the saleswoman has no idea what she's doing- brides, please avoid at all costs and don't put your bridesmaids through this. I went to Bella Bridesmaid because my sister and my sister-in-law live in Fairfield, CT. I picked out all of my bridesmaids gowns. A week after we purchased the gowns we found out a friend of mine was pregnant. My friend called to see if she could get a larger size since it had only been a week. They strictly told us no and would not help us out. Then- they had all of my bridesmaids order extra length, which none of them needed and Every single girl had to go to a tailor. ***The worst part was when one of my bridesmaids called with her measurements she told the store she was a size 2 normally but the measurements matched a size 12 on their dress chart. They told her to def. go with the size 12. She pushed back and they said she was a def. 12. When she showed up to the tailor they said the dress was so large there was nothing they could do with the dress and that is would cost the same amount as getting a second dress. The store did not help us out at all. Would not even buy back the dress or exchange the dress when they insisted she buy a size 12. They just told us to go to another tailor, who said the exact same thing, that my bridesmaid needed a new dress. We had to order another $300.00 gown from Nordstrom and we are stuck with her other size 12 dress, since the wedding is in 4 weeks. I bet this is not the first nor the last time this has happened and they were awful and with no help. If you are in the bridesmaid industry be prepared to help out your clients. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Our party booked an appointment 5 days in advance and made a day of bridesmaid dress shopping. The sales associate that "helped" us was rude and couldn't have been any less interested in helping us find dresses. We weren't invited to look through the section, only to sit. She didn't listen to anything we did or didn't like and kept bringing the same styles to us. She also put a lot of emphasis on price to us before showing us dresses as if she was belittling us. The sales associate with the party next to us didn't talk prices at all. The selection of dresses we were shown were bland and overpriced. It was our understanding that bridal parties with an appointment got to enjoy complimentary drinks which at no point were offered to us (our party was all 23yo +). 20 mins into our appointment we left. We didn't let the negative energy of the store and the sales associate take up anymore of our fun filled day. read more

My bridesmaids purchased their dresses from this Bella Bridesmaids location and we couldn't be happier with the process or the selection. Bella stores are by appointment-only but this location's owner, Maribeth, is so accommodating no one in my bridal party has ever had a problem. As a side note, Maribeth's daughter manages the chain's West Hartford location which one of my bridesmaids visited as it was more convenient for her. When some of the out-of-town bridesmaids were visiting the area, we literally stumbled upon Bella Bridesmaid after a foray into Crumbs Cupcake Shop. We called from the sidewalk, and were luckily able to schedule an appointment and go up immediately. Our experience could not have been better. We were greeted warmly, given very personalized service and recommendations, and -- most importantly -- tried on some wonderful dresses. The ladies looked great in their selections, and the staff was very good about accomodating each girl's personal taste. They have a very wide selection that would suit any time of the year, style, and budget -- plus, many of the dresses have different options available that could give them a unique look for each bridesmaid. Although in the end, none of us ended up purchasing our bridesmaids gowns at Bella Bridesmaid, I would without a doubt recommend it to any friend when planning their wedding. I have to agree with the negative comments from the ladies below. The consultant measured me and convinced me get a size 6. I was told that the style runs small and they wouldn't be able to alter it if I went too small. They use fear tactics well. In addition, the bridal consultant paid little attention leaving me to clip and unclip oversized dresses by myself. She was chatting with the two other consultants the entire time. I have been in two other weddings and bought numerous other dresses in my lifetime I have never been larger than a 2 or 4. If you go here and they try to convince you to get a larger size, that you know you don't need, don't let them. read more

I have to start by saying I have never written a bad review on Yelp, however, I thought it was important to share my recent experience with Bella Bridesmaids. My sister is getting married in 2.5 weeks and we still do not have our bridesmaid dresses, which we ordered the first week in April. There has been so much miscommunication and false-promises about when the dresses were due to arrive. While the initial appointment was lovely, the process of actually receiving the dresses on time has been incredibly stressful particularly for one of the bridesmaids who is pregnant and needs significant alterations. To make matters worse, the store is currently closed while the owners are on vacation - DURING THE MIDDLE OF WEDDING SEASON. It makes me livid to think that our $300+ dresses, which were originally supposed to be shipped in mid-July, are instead sitting somewhere in Westport while the store owners sit on a beach. The whole point of ordering maids' dresses from a chain is the convenience for out-of-town bridesmaids to try on the dress at a local salon. I've spent over $500 on dresses in the past 6 weeks, all at Bella Bridesmaid locations. I tried to make an appointment to try on a dress in Westport (about an hour from where I live, but closer than the other locations) and was told I could have a 15 minute appointment on a Wednesday in mid-day. I have a job. I'm a bridesmaid, not a bride. And that's ridiculous. I ended up contacting the designer, who happily shipped me the dresses in the possible sizes. I'm so thrilled that my brides ordered their dresses from other Bella locations, because this one is awful. I can only hope the others are more accommodating. read more

GREAT store and super helpful staff! After much research, I finally found the most perfect/beautiful dress for my bridesmaids here! The staff was communicative and so helpful throughout the whole process. They were even able to bring in a sample of the exact dress I wanted from another store in my bridesmaids' size, so we could see the exact look and fit on them. Our consultant that day was so sweet and helpful, and so was the manager. They made us feel comfortable. The consultant even helped me make a final decision on the color of the dress, which was not easy due to my indecisiveness. They were very patient and helpful and even communicated through text in the following weeks after the appointment, when I had questions or concerns. I'm so thankful for their advice and suggestions, because I absolutely love the color I chose for the girls! I'm very pleased with the quality of the dresses. Compared to other bridesmaids dresses I saw elsewhere, they really offer great quality and beautiful styles. My girls all said the material of the dresses was nice and comfortable. My other 2 bridesmaids are from PA and they were actually able to visit the Bella Bridesmaids there to try on the dress. It's great and convenient that they have nationwide stores, especially during the pandemic when it made it hard to meet up with everyone especially if you have out of state bridesmaids. All 4 bridesmaids handled payment though this store. Once the dresses arrived, the local girls picked up their dresses and the other 2 dresses were mailed by the store to my PA girls. Everything was seamless and professional- no issues at all. Sadly, due to COVID, my wedding is postponed to 2021 so the girls can't wear them until next year, but nonetheless this was a great experience from beginning to end. I am extremely disappointed in the Bella Bridesmaids company and the customer service at this particular location. For clarification, I am the Matron of Honor in a wedding that is in less than a month. The dresses for this wedding were purchased on May 2, 2019 and were promised to be delivered by the end of August. We even requested to rush ship one of the dresses due to time concern. Well...it is now the end of September and the dresses have still not arrived. Not only are they a month late, but Bella Bridesmaids never communicated with anyone that these dresses would not be delivered on time. I understand that delays happen, but to not at least communicate that with your buyer, when you know that these dresses are not only for an incredibly important event, but also that many of them may need time to be altered before that event...it is completely unacceptable. When it became clear that these dresses were not arriving on time, and that Bella Bridesmaids would not be communicating this to us, my bride finally reached out. She tried to contact Bella Bridesmaids several different times and was continually told either misleading or flat out wrong information. (And that is when she was lucky enough to actually speak with a real person on the phone!) Finally, she was told this week that the dresses had shipped and she was provided with a tracking number. The dresses are expected to arrive to the store next week, but many of us requested (and paid for) our dresses to be shipped directly to us. So...the fact that they are already late, and then, for some reason are being sent to the store before being sent to us, when we already spent money to have them shipped directly to us...it is not only bizarre, it is illogical. And if this is a store policy, that's one thing, but it was never told to any of the bridesmaids that this would be the case. If it's your policy, you need to share your policy. I understand that mistakes happen. I also understand that not all mistakes are at the fault of one person or one company. Bella Bridesmaids has told my bride that this is at the fault of the designer. Sure, maybe that is why the shipment was delayed in the first place, but the issue here is not why the delay happened, but rather how the delay was handled. And that is at the fault of Bella Bridesmaids. It was handled with zero communication (until the bride finally got involved) and also very little care or consideration. Not once were we offered any sort of refund- not even for the shipping when many of us paid to have these dresses sent directly to us. Wedding planning, although wonderful, can be a time of incredible stress. I recently got married this past June and couldn't be happier with the experience I had at Bella's Bridesmaids in Westport Connecticut. Working with Maggie made the experience extremely easy and delightful. Her store offers a slew of different designers and styles. It was so much fun going with all my bridesmaids to the store and trying on all the amazing different dresses she had to offer. I personally ended up doing a color story and having each of my bridesmaids wear a different dress. On the day of the wedding all my bridesmaids look like beautiful Grecian goddesses. I am getting married in two weeks and last week I went to pick up my bridesmaids dresses and my rehearsal dinner dress from Bella Bridesmaids. Only to find out that my dress for the rehearsal dinner came in the WRONG color and cannot be ordered and there is nothing they can do. So less than two weeks before my wedding I do not have a rehearsal dinner dress on top of all the other wedding stress I have finishing all the loose ends before my big day. Moreover, I found out that my bridesmaids dresses were sitting in the warehouse for DAYS before they could be shipped to the store to be shipped out to my bridesmaids. All the bridesmaids need alterations on their dresses and it takes TIME and not to mention alterations will cost each of them an average of $120. So brides, do not buy your rehearsal dinner dress here it's a waste of your time, it will not a big check off your list, it is a huge waste of your time! read more

I agree with the review above. I technically live closer to the NYC location, but thought the Westport would be easier. The people that run this shop want you IN and OUT and it has to be on their schedule. They e-mail you and you have to respond within an hour to confirm. Basically they only come in when they have an appointment. We all have busy schedules, but it is clearly all about their personal schedule. You constantly feel rushed by them to get out. They are making a lot of money and have to do very little work. You would think that they could be a little accommodating. read more

This particular location just changed ownership. I am a bride and spent the morning at the other Westport bridesmaid store, Plumed Serpant. The service between the two could not have been more different. Plumed Serpant service was snotty and rushed. The new owner of Bella Bridesmaid, Madison, was friendly, kind, patient, I could not have asked for a more perfect person to help. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend going here. I had two experiences at this salon. The first was enjoyable, but the second was wildly disappointing. The wrong dress styles were ordered for two bridesmaids (maids of honor actually) for my sisters wedding. Mistakes happen, but the level of customer service following this realization was almost laughable. There was no "let's get this fixed" mentality. That's what a bride needs to hear weeks out from her wedding day. But no, they offered no solution, took no fault, blamed us, and basically shrugged their shoulders when we brought this to their attention the day the dresses were picked up from their store... saying it was simply too late to get new dresses. Meanwhile, another salon heard our story, called the designer and was able to get a rush order approved. This other salon was so willing to HELP even when they knew we didn't buy our dresses from them. (We ultimately put the rush order through with Bella, once they heard another salon could do it, but they did not compensate us for the wrong dresses so we essentially had to pay for double the dresses) Now it is my turn to get married and I will not trust Bella Bridesmaid to have anything to do with my wedding. In this industry, you need to have that trust in your vendors, that even when something goes wrong (it's inevitable), they will help you find a solution and be a partner to you. Overall, the dress selection may be good but the poor customer service isn't worth the headache. Instead, I would recommend A Little Something White in Darien if you're local to Fairfield County or Allegria Bridal in Boston if you are up north a bit. read more

I have never posted a bad review on any business publicly, but felt I had to for this after the experience we had. Bella Bridesmaids in Westport offered the worst experience. I was there this past weekend with a few of my Bridesmaids and we showed up 20 minutes early and asked if we could start looking around so we can utilize the full hour of our appointment trying on dresses, to which Kate (fill in manager as the owner is on mat. leave) said yes and invited us in as she finished up her appointment. My girls and I started pulling some dress styles and waited for our appointment to begin. When our lady (who only works on Saturdays - I forget her name) came over to us at the beginning of the appointment, she immediately started yelling at us for pulling dresses and aggressively grabbed the dresses my girls were holding and threw them on a rack. She started yelling that we should not have pulled dresses before talking about color (mind you every dress we had pulled to try on came in the color we were looking for) and complained about having to put the dresses back (which is her job). I can go on about her attitude, rude comments (telling one of my bridesmaid she looked bad in a dress) and completely unprofessional demeanor. Additionally, if it was an issue for us to pull dresses or being their early than I understand that, but it should have been communicated to us or they shouldn't have told us we can be there and start to look. By us pulling the dresses, it completely streamlined the appointment and allowed us to very quickly pinpoint the dress we liked. Lastly, she explained she would send me an email with detailed information on the dress we liked and instructions on how to order it (standard across all Bella Bridesmaids stores) but failed to do so. Again, completely unprofessional and bad customer service, but I would never order my dresses through them any way or support this business. We are going to a different boutique to order the dress or ordering through the designers site. Whoever that girl is that only works on Saturday's should be fired. At the end of the day, my girls and I had fun and found a dress we liked, but it was very much in spite of the girl and Kate who helped us. read more

I made two separate appointments for my bridal party. The first was to pick out color choice, designer and dress that fit my overall theme. Maggie was quick to narrowing down my options. Ultimately I decided to pick Jenny Yoo Dresses. I let my bridesmaids pick out their own dress and scheduled a return visit for more of my bridal party. Maggie opened up the shop on a Sunday and allowed us to take our time and even bring refreshments and snacks. This made the experience more like a party rather than your usual boring appointment. She was extremely helpful and patient with us the entire time and diligent to make sure each girls information was notated including sizes so that she would be able to take care of and keep track of them individually. This alleviated a lot of pressure form me. I am so far extremely pleased with the shopping experience and look forward to the dresses arriving soon! read more

The initial visit was fine: I was measured and told that the smallest size of the designer would be too large on me and I would have to get it tailored to be significantly smaller. Two months later, I receive the dress and I can't zip it up all the way and the waist is too tight. I called back and the woman on the phone said I would have to come back in to be remeasured. When I came in, she proceeded to tell me I had "gained a little in the hips" and that maybe that was the problem. They sent the dress back to the designer to see if they accidentally ran the dress smaller than the standard measurements, but they ultimately sent it back to me saying they didn't mess up and that they'd reimburse me to get it tailored on my own two weeks before the wedding. I was forced to get a rush job and had a bridesmaid dress that was uncomfortable and tight the day of the wedding when I could've had the next size up if the measurements really matched the specifications I was told. read more

Maddi and Maribeth were awesome! I'd been searching for a bridesmaid dress to fit my body and the brides color for over 6 months. I sent them an email via their website inquiring about a paint swatch (not fabric swatch) i have given by a bride and a specific dress she had given me to look for- they found out it wasn't being made in that color anymore. But they set up an appointment with me the next month and I came in to try and match the swatches with other dresses. They were friendly and patient with me through all the dresses I tried. I thought I had one the bride would approve of, so I left and was ready to order the next week. When the bride changed her mind about approving the dress, I set up another appointment and they helped me find the perfect match in a dress that I made me feel beautiful. I happily placed my order and was excited to give them a good review. I'm very pleased with my experience with this store- go see them! read more
