I had the best experience at ALSW! This was my first time trying on dresses and they made the experience so fun and easy from the calls before my appointment to the appointment itself. I loved the bridal stylist I worked with (Krissy) - she was so knowledgeable and listened to my feedback well. I also really liked how we got to browse the showroom before trying anything on and could bring four people which is a lot more than most stores in the city allow. Went today to look for a mother of the bride dress date of wedding and my price point was made clear in my on line scheduled appointment as well as when I spoke to the employee confirming my appointment on the phone . Walked in at 11:45 for my 12 noon appointment was back in my car at 11:57 without even trying a on . I drove an hour to get there . Was shown a few dresses told nothing would come in on time for the wedding. I was told by the person working with me they had nothing here for me and perhaps I should try a department store !!! Shame on all of you for treating people like this you ruined a day that should have been a fun happy day !!!!! read more

My first appointment was with ALSW, and Cindy could not have been a nicer or more helpful consultant, she made me feel beautiful with every dress she selected! I still cannot believe how incredible ALSW is--they went above and beyond every step of the way, from the first try on to the final fitting to dress cleaning. Ashley (ALSW's owner) suggested doing my tailoring at the designer's salon in New Jersey, and she even came with me to my fittings with them. Okay, where to start... Firstly I had the pleasure of working with Yvette who is just a wonderful human and an amazingly experienced individual. When I finally went to a little something white I had already gone to 6 shops and by that point I was exhausted of not finding my dress. Yvette helped me out with a private appointment and it is totally worth it! I had gone in with a vision of the style of dress I wanted but I trusted Yvette who literally suggested a chic timeless dress despite my request to get something with a lot of intricate detailing. I left that appointment knowing my dress was there and then returned several weeks later with my sister and a new accessory, Crutches from my knee surgery. Yvette not only was flexible and super helpful with my inability to stand for long periods but also made me feel like a princess while I tried on dresses with my crutches. They have a beautiful store and the consultants are all very professional and helpful. The only reason I am giving them 3 stars is because I feel like the consultant didn't respect my budget which she was aware of. Upon arrival, she confirmed with me that my budget was $2500 and proceeded to show me dresses she had preselected that were $2900. She also advised me to browse in a section that was supposed to be within my budget but the dresses shown were $3500 and up. They also require a $1000 deposit for alterations which is ridiculous. In July 2022, my daughter and I went for a first round of wedding dress shopping. Our consultant Nicole was terrific as was everyone else we dealt with over the next 14 months--the managers, the seamstress, everyone. It was really a delight and a very fun thing to share with my daughter. Now for the reason it is not 5 stars. When I went to pay, a tip request (10, 12, 15% options) appeared. As Nicole was the person ringing me up, it was quite awkward. I think I am a sophisticated person and while I know it is ok at a coffee shop, it seemed inappropriate when I was spending $5000+ for a dress. A 10% tip would have been over $500. I asked if she worked on commission and she said she did. I truly didn't want to do the wrong thing but was pretty upset. It also took away from what was a very special time with my daughter. I did check with my wedding planner and she said she had never heard of such a thing. Anyhoo, it was such a wonderful experience but the tip request did leave a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I don't have enough positive words to describe my wonderful experience with A Little Something White and Ashley, the owner. ALSW is truly special: the place is super charming and the people working there are more than welcoming - I feel that's exactly how shopping for your wedding dress should be like and I wouldn't change a thing. Before finding my dress at ALSW, I visited a lot of stores in NYC and I'm 100% sure that none of them would offer the same treatment that I received at ALSW, nor have the same vibe. It was truly an experience. Before visiting them for the first, I was almost deciding for a different dress, something that I've shared with them. But then I saw my dress at ALSW and everything changed... I was never pressured to choose their dress - Ashley even made compliments on the other dress when I shared my doubts. I spent a week trying to decide... And I remember thinking that it would maybe be harder to give up the experience of buying my dress at ALSW than the dress itself!!! Many months later, when the dress finally arrived, all the way from Israel, there were some details that I wasn't happy about (all because I decided to change some things on the original dress). And I thought that nothing could be done about it at that point, since the dress came from such a long distance and we only had 2 more weeks before I had to leave for my wedding. BUT nothing is impossible to Ashley: she contacted the designer and had extra fabric and lace delivered in a WEEK - from Israel to CT. How impressive is that?! I still can't believe it. She even called the FedEx guy and made him come back on the same day when the first delivery attempt failed - something they don't usually do. The alterations were made very fast and they did everything possible to accommodate all my appointments in a little time. Like I said: you wouldn't get this type of treatment anywhere else. I don't usually write reviews, but I loved ALSW so much that I just have to. My family doesn't live in the US, so buying my wedding dress alone was a daunting thought. ALSW's new showroom in Darien is absolutely gorgeous, it is way more inviting and comfortable (and obviously bigger!) than the places I visited in NYC, the dressing rooms are lovely with comfortable seating right there for anyone joining your appointment. They have a huge selection and their stylists are kind and knowledgeable, they were the only salon who called me in advance to "meet" and get a sense of what I was looking for. The experience I had at ALSW was so superior than even Bergdorfs - you might think NYC is where it's at but after going here I can tell you it's not! read more

I had purchase my wedding dress two years ago here after searching and searching. It was perfect. Since my wedding got postponed I had left my dress at little something white for my alterations that recently just occurred. The staff have and are always helpful especially Chantel along with the seamstress Sara. They made me feel so happy every time I went in there and helpful. I had also purchased a veil, belt and hair piece. So why only 3 stars your wondering. After making my deposit for my alterations which was $400. I had my fitting appointments. I added a few things to the dress and not much I mind you. My mother went to pick my dress up for me knowing that I live an hour from the store which is no convenience to me. I found out that the costs of my alterations were more than $1,000. Not once during any of the times I went to my fitting appointments did they mention the additional costs.I felt blindsided two days before my wedding. I called to voice my compliment after buying all of my accessories from the store as well and then charging me full price for a hairpiece that was probably touched and not new. Maybe because it's the location of the store they felt that they need to overcharge an absurd amount of money. After voicing my concerns an email was sent back to me not a phone call you could only imagine how I felt when I couldn't get a call back until my wedding day I received a voicemail that nothing could be done. I just hope they communicate in the future to their brides as a business this not the way to handle a situation especially a bride who had to change their wedding date three times. Again I'm disappointed on how this situation occurred. I wouldn't recommend alterations again only bc how they handle it. But again Sara did an amazing job on my dress and she was wonderful to work with. So this was disheartening to write this review but like I said management did not handle this situation as it should have been handle. read more

After trying a trunk show sample of one of Liancarlo's dresses in Chicago. I hunted down a shop in the NYC area so that I could try it on again and purchase, so that I wouldn't have to go back to Chicago for alterations each time. (I live in NYC). I searched and found that this designer's work was sold at A Little Something White in Darien, CT, and that the trunk show was there! I called on a Friday and they were able to take me in Saturday morning! I found it and bought it. The place was so adorable, clean, spacious and modern - unlike my experiences in NYC. Ashley and Amber was so warm and patient with me, as I tried to make my mind between two styles. Each time I had to come up for my three fittings, they would pick me up and drop me off at the Darien, CT train station. It was so wonderful to go there and escape NYC. I'll actually miss my trips up! Also, their seamstress, Bridget, was awesome and knew how to bustle and handle my dress. It was the perfect fit. Lastly, they even shipped my dress (insured) to Chicago, and it arrived safe and sound. The dress was wrapped perfectly and done in a way that I actually didn't even need to get it steamed again (it was a tulle dress, so that helped). I would highly recommend A Little Something White for your dress of your dreams! I always loved looking at the different styles even after I picked mine out, too! read more

She is not and never has been a great lover of shopping, but the time we spent in ALSW may turn her around for ever. I came to a little something white for my second ever bridal appointment. Amber was absolutely fantastic. She has pre-pulled the dresses that I had picked out prior to the appointment, and added some other she thought i would love. She also gave me (and my my and sister) the chance to walk around and look at any other gowns in the store to try on. She was warm, friendly and absolutely knew what she was doing. She was able to read my body language and facial expressions and did a tremendous job figuring out my style, likes and dislikes in a very short amount of time. She was patient and welcoming.
