I was on vacation and decided to see what other OTF studios are like. There's only one OTF location in the San Gabriel area so classes are always full. This was my first time seeing a waitlist for the majority of the classes so you definitely have to pre book in advance. I wish I had looked at the schedule before my trip but thankfully I was lucky one class opened up for a time slot that worked for my schedule. It's quite spacious. The coach was awesome and friendly. Even though I was there for a day, you can sense a community here. Because I come from a smaller studio back home, the coaches will individually give us shout outs like "(insert name) great job". It's understandable they don't do individual cheers since the class is so large. I do like that there's tape to identify sections on the floor. That's very helpful to know the boundaries of my bubble. Next time I'm here, I'll definitely precook ahead of time. Great workout with a parking lot.

LOVE THIS ORANGETHEORY!!! The staff are super nice and friendly. All the coaches are great and extremely motivating! They do a good job keeping everyone motivated while demonstrating exercises, calling out time, and watching to make sure everyone has proper form. There's restrooms, showers, and cubbies at this location. There's lots of lobby space which is nice to stretch before the workout. The studio is super big and well spread out so I never feel cramped doing floor exercises. Orange theory is a great workout with the treadmill, rower, and floor being the major components. I love the variety of workouts and templates that constantly change to workout all muscle groups! ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND

    Welcome offer denied! Lol

So I used to workout here and haven't gone back for about a year or more. I really love the workout and the coaches are great. I recently got an email saying they want to "welcome me back" with a free class and there a $50 off the premier membership. The day of my free class I get a text saying that the free class is only for new members. It's $30 for the class, not inexpensive for one class. I wanted to try it out again to see if I would want to sign up for a membership again. Thought it was a good opportunity to do so. Just turns me off that they didn't honor the offer which clearly states the discounted membership is "on top of the free class". It seems wrong.

If you are a fan of interval training, then you're going to love Orangetheory Fitness. Mike is a great instructor. I took my first class with him and he explained everything very well. He ensures that we are using proper form and feel comfortable with the workout. I was impressed at how he did not stop talking throughout the entire hour in order to keep us motivated. All of the equipment is clean and high-tech. We wear heart rate monitors around our arms to keep track of our heart rate, calories burned, splat points, and more. These numbers are shown on the TV screens and we can also see them on each individual treadmill (then, they are emailed to us at the end of class). For me, looking at these results are helpful to give me an idea of whether I need to push harder. The heart rate monitor is free for your first class. After that, you can rent for $5 per class or purchase one. Not every workout is the same. They always consist of using the water rowing machines, treadmills, and weights, but there are many variations of workouts that can be done with these. When doing weights or stretches, there is even another TV that shows us what workout we are supposed to do. This is so useful in case we forget what's next. They make it easy to follow along. Another thing that puts Orangetheory on top of the list is that they give each person a card that assigns us to a specific station and machine. This makes sure that everyone has a spot and makes the class more organized, with no one being confused about where to go. It is highly recommended to bring a water bottle with you because it is intense, and you're going to sweat!

Ask the Community - Orangetheory Fitness

Are you required to buy/rent those monitors? I just want to work out and don't care to track anything.

You are not required to purchase the fitness monitors. Although I find it helpful, many people there do not track.

How is parking at this location? Is there a private lot?

They have their own lot, behind the studio. There is also street parking (depending upon the time of day-check signage).

How are the shower lines in morning classes?

If you get out of class a few minutes early you shouldn't have a problem. There is only one shower so if your not the first one in your waiting at least 10 minutes.

    How's the parking?

Plenty of street parking on Oak & Colorado. I have never had a problem finding a spot.

What is the monthly cost for a membership?

    Varies with pkg

Their fine print (never mentioned by staff at sign-up) pushes you or even REQUIRES payment by debit card for a single club membership. You're then immediately sent a vague follow-up communication by email/text that easily goes to spam or is not checked---asking you to switch payment to a checking account/routing number. Miss that? This automatically voids your contract-- and you get charge double--- the full multi-club rate. In only 4 months, they ignored my agreement, charged me the inflated rate every single month- plus hit me with two separate annual fees back to back. Two yearly fees in only four months. When I raised it, staff and management deflected, blamed me, and defended the (hidden and vague) policies without addressing the math. In my opinion, this gym (or the parent company ABC fitness Solutions LLC. ) knows what they are doing with this loophole ---as they lean on reaching into the pockets of a young adult, student demographic that may not catch or care about this.

I wanted a gym where I could focus on strength training as its own discipline rather than blending it into a CrossFit or Hyrox-style workout. Just as importantly, I wanted consistent coaching and feedback so I could continue improving. I've tried classes at several other gyms in the area, but Rose City Barbell aligns perfectly with my current goals: learning proper strength movements, understanding progressive overload, and following thoughtful, well-structured programming. The coaching emphasizes building a strong foundation, proper technique, and sustainable progress. I never leave feeling beaten up or wondering how to get stronger--I leave knowing exactly what I'm working toward. As someone who is only five months removed from a major abdominal surgery, I'm especially grateful to have found this community. The coaches have helped me rebuild my strength safely and confidently. My favorite coaches are Kim and Sionann. Kim has an incredible eye for technique and always knows when to challenge me. She's the coach who points to the heavier dumbbells and says, "You can totally do that," when I would never have considered picking them up myself. Time and again, she's been right. Her attention to detail is exceptional, from movement cues to recommending the right footwear (or no footwear) for specific lifts. Sionann is equally skilled when it comes to coaching technique and providing effective cues. She has a gift for encouraging people to give their best effort, even on the mornings when they'd rather coast through the workout. She somehow manages to bring energy, positivity, and fun to every class--even at 6 a.m. Her encouragement helps everyone move better, work harder, and leave feeling accomplished. If you're looking for a gym that prioritizes strength, excellent coaching, and long-term progress, I can't recommend Rose City Barbell highly enough.

Just thoughtful programming, sharp feedback, and the right kind of pressure to grow. She knows how to meet me where I am and still expect more. What really sets her apart is how well she reads personality. She gives structure when I need it, honesty when I need it, and space to be vulnerable without making it weird. I've been able to talk openly about what feels hard, physically and mentally, and she responds with strategy, not fluff. I'm stronger, yes. But more importantly, I feel more capable in my body. And we make it fun!!! If you want smart coaching that respects your brain as much as your muscles, she's it.

I think whether it's worth it really depends on how you use it. If you're just using it like a normal gym, it's obviously way overpriced. But if you actually take advantage of the classes and amenities, it is worth it. The floor Pilates classes are free but the reformer classes are extra. The classes are really high quality with good instructors. For me especially because I hate packing stuff and they provide everything you need for all classes. Even for yoga, you don't have to bring anything. You just show up and they have mats, bolsters, blankets, and everything is clean and ready to go. For me personally, I use it as an escape because I can hit the steam room and take a shower sort of like a spa pass. They provide all the bath products too. I'm not a huge fan of the products themselves, they are drying kind of like hotel products,, but at least they're there, so I don't have to think about packing anything. Another thing is that it removed a lot of barriers because they provide towels, which are always clean and fluffy (and I don't have to wash). I can show up in workout clothes with a water bottle and everything else is provided. As with any gym, though, it's not worth it if you don't actually use it. It's also not a huge social scene, which might be a downside for some people but is an upside for me. I can go work out without worrying about having to talk to people or have awkward interactions around equipment. There aren't tons of people taking selfies or clogging up machines and walkways. It also doesn't get super crowded, which I think is partly because of the price point. Those are all huge pluses for me, but I'm on the more introverted side and just trying to work out, not update my social media or make new friends at the gym. I'm basically paying to remove barriers that usually prevent me from going to regular gyms, plus the classes are quality. I don't have to wait for equipment or deal with a bunch of little obstacles that make me less likely to go. They validate parking, which is another big plus. Between the parking, classes, towels, showers, and amenities, there are basically no barriers. The customer service is also really good, I've never had an unpleasant interaction on my way in or out at the front desk, so the whole experience is low stress. I used someone's referral code from here when I joined and got a gift shop credit/didn't have to pay the initiation fee. Everyone I know has been able to join without paying the invitation fee, so don't pay it, they will find a way to waive it because they want your business. I used someone else's link from reddit, but it got taken down. It got the fee waived and I got a credit, so I'm posting my link in case it helps someone else. https://equinox.com/referrals/003A000001TO5GKIA1 Bottom line is it's worth it if it actually gets you to go or you're already paying for classes somewhere else. If you're already paying for yoga classes somewhere else, that's probably close to $100 a month by itself, and you usually don't get all the extra amenities. For me, the biggest value is that it removes barriers and makes it easy and low stress so I don't avoid it. Having everything provided and not having to plan or prepare makes me much more likely to go consistently and yeah, I could save money and go somewhere else, but I wouldn't go, thus my Equinox membership.

This would be my 3rd time coming as a guest. I wanted to show her how I do my kettlebell workout. I am not a professional trainer. I do not work in the fitness industry. I am just someone who likes to stay in shape and I am not a part of any Gym. My Gf is a personal trainer for a living. We started to work out with kettlebells, and I stood of to the side and helped her. Within 5 minutes a manager comes over and says" you are not allowed to do personal training" I said," what does it need to look like so it will not appear to be personal training. I am not training her." The Manager said" if you work out together, doing the same exercise that's ok" So we complied. For the next 45 minutes that is what we did. When we finally got to our last exercise of working out together. The general Manager, Madison Bin,(Super long fake eyelashes) shows up and in a crowded section to let us know we are still engaged in personal training. I asked her," which exercise can you confirm that personal training was going on?" She could not answer. Only to reply" my trainers saw you" Basically, no one saw us and wanted nothing more than to elevate the situation. After escalating the situation in front of their other members, my GF decided to terminate her membership and ask for a refund on the remaining amount. We walk to the lobby and my GF goes to talk to their senior salesman, Benson Frederick. This idiot proceeds to escalate the situation even more by accusing us right away of training and starts to yell at me right away to get out of his office. No discussion. No understanding. Just yelling "get out"! I do not engage with people when they start yelling and I walk out. He would continue to yell and even spell the word "Out" This is how they treat their guest. And if you come in with your significant other or close partner beware. I guess all the trainers think they are Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible and They will treat you like "Osama Bin Training"

Our goal was to help our girls improve their strength, speed, and vertical...all things that are very important for volleyball. We started with the 3-months program to see how they liked it, and we've already seen great improvements in their overall athletic performance. Their movements are stronger and more explosive, and we can tell the training is really helping them on the court. The coaches there (Coach Morgan) are professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. They pay attention to each athlete's needs and push them to reach their full potential. Our girls like to train there because they see the results themselves, and we truly appreciate the positive environment and the results we're seeing.
