What a life changing place. I am so glad that I found this gym. Every trainer that I've had has amazing energy and is so welcoming. Front staff always greeting with a smile, even at 5am! Pro tip - they validate parking. If you are hesitating, don't! Try a class (and add a membership).

Really enjoy the work outs at Rumble Pasadena. The instructors goes over the movements and techniques every single time. Just listen up so you don't get lost. Enjoy taking full body, upper and lower body classes. They have classes every day for people who don't have a life, like me. They were open Thanksgiving too! Thank you for being available and dependable. The studio. Its super clean and there's plenty of room inside the studio. the studio can get dark at times and the music is great. I wish the projectors on the boxing side was easier to see. Too many obstructions from the beams that hold the aqua bags. So, I prefer the bags up in front. Two bathrooms full of supplies/amenities and a separate shower room. Toiletries, towels, earplugs, hand sanitizer and so much more; are always stocked. Lockers with dial locks so you don't have to bring your own. 90 mins of parking free with their validation. Super easy. First time? They can provide gloves and wraps. The front desk team are super friendly, personable, and can help with anything. Joy was there for my first time and answered all my questions. They can communicate via text/email/call. My favorite part is that there is sometimes a cute and playful Australian Shepard dog that's there to welcome you. Thank you so much for supporting military veterans. During my active duty service, I was deployed almost a dozen times and stationed overseas. I never never got to enjoy anything at home. It's been a rough transition home. From my heart, thank you Rumble Pasadena for not forgetting about us and for your support, so many years later. I honor you.

After attending Stride, I'll probably switch over to this studio instead. First off, I really like that Stride is inclusive to all fitness levels and give options for both walkers and runners. It has a range of different treadmill levels for Levels 1-4. This allows me to self-regulate and go easier or faster depending on how I'm feeling that day. This allows me to sufficiently warm up and I feel like I'm getting the most out of my workout. You only switch once during the combo so I definitely can take my time and do quality reps. Seriously there is nothing more annoying that switching between workouts super quickly and I don't even have time to catch my breath so please keep this format!

Game changer and much better use of space. I've been liking this new format because it added room for the strength and weight-training portion of the class. The benches are really nice and each bench has your own set of weights ranging from 7.5 to 25 pounds. Not having to get the weights you think you'll need for class is really helpful. For me, I still average around 2-3 miles per Combo class and that's perfect for me. This new format helps me hit more muscle groups than before! I also like the screens showing the strength moves on the strength side so it's easier to remember. Instructors and staff are all still amazing and welcoming. Definitely a class worth checking out!

Committing to just one gym is difficult when each person goes through their productive, creative, or hibernation periods. I've wanted a place that made me look forward to going and not finding reasons to skip out. After some time with ClassPass, a 45-day workout challenge and a dozen-full of memorable buddy pass classes later, I finally made a decision I've been happy with since. Basecamp for the win. Love their lower to upper to full body workout schedule, the alternation between cardio and strength, the change/rotation of class layouts, their equipment, and of course, the instructors and team themselves. Special appreciation for the 9am goers because they became a solid community for me when I was going through some post-grad life transitions and turbulence. Somehow, when I was considering what to properly invest in while sacrificing to save money from other things, this was a good alternative investment that has sparked back some love for workout classes again. I stopped into today to update my card info after a fraud problem caused me to get a new debit account. While I was there I asked trainer Callie what the 'pause account' policies were. I had signed up as a founding member, but had only managed to attend one class due to an illness then injury. Being a 'founding member' carried enough value that it made more sense to keep it active even if I could not attend. It was my OWN fault I never asked earlier, as I never expected to be out of the training game as long as I was. Callie listened attentively, helped me sign up for the next week under HER name because my account was effectively paused- then said as soon as her manager was available, she would call and see if there was 'something they could do' to credit me for my lost training time. Graciella (hope I'm spelling everyone's name correctly!) called me about 20 minutes later, and graciously (true to the name ;) offered to credit me for THE ENTIRE TIME I MISSED OUT ON!!!! I was so overwhelmed I almost didn't know what to say..... obviously it was very clear I have been paying for months for a service I wasn't able to take advantage of, but this level of generosity is unheard of today! In this age of bots, endless customer service wait times, submitted forms that never get a response, and generally broken promises from merchants, to have a business tell you they would reach out to help, then deliver on that promise in under an hour feels almost like magic. It just never happens anymore, and EVERYONE should know. Particularly in an environment where a person trying to improve and change, that level of support, that feeling of 'I understand- and I GOT YOU'..... you just can't put a price tag on that. These women and this location will have my loyalty forever, I am so grateful. THANK YOU LADIES!!!! PS: I know this review had nothing to do with the workout itself, but the one class I did before I had to take a break totally kicked my ass & I loved it! It's why I kept my account active so long in hopes of returning at least 3 days a week, it's exactly the type of hype & grind I was looking for. Really looking forward to more!

Now that I'm healed, I was thinking about going back to Corepower but the algorithm must have seen me browsing yoga studios and an ad for this place popped up on my Instagram for a $36 for 3 classes intro deal. I was a bit weary of my card automatically getting billed for a membership once my three classes ended, so I called the studio and spoke to Kelsey (She's the daytime studio manager I think) who assured me that there's no catch, I can take the three classes for $36 and decide from there if I want to buy a membership or not. She was super friendly and helpful, she asked me what I was looking for and helped recommend me which classes might be good for me. My first class I took Dahhee's mobility class which I enjoyed. While it definitely feels like yoga, it's not a traditional yoga flow class where you're doing chaturangas and sun salutations between each sequence but a mix of yoga, stretching, and strength building. The second class I took was Kyle's slow flow class. This was more similar to classes I've taken in the past at other studios and I really loved that Kyle integrated her playlist with the movement. The studio is also very welcoming, the first class I went to was an evening class and the evening studio manager Karisma greeted me and helped me check in, while the second time I went during the day and Kelsey was there. There's free combination code lockers in the locker room which is really nice, you don't have to bring your own lock. Parking is fairly easy, they don't have their own lot but there's free street parking on their street. Both times I found street parking right on their street, though they also validate meter parking as the free section is limited. You should give yourself some time to walk over in case you have to park up the street. The two cons I have are: 1) No showers 2) The classes are only warm not hot. I asked Kelsey and she said both classes I took they heat the room to 90 degrees. As someone who's always cold, 90 degrees I'm barely breaking a sweat. The no showers thing actually didn't matter too much because I wasn't drenched in sweat like I usually am after hot yoga. Next week I plan to take the "Power flow" class which I'm told is hotter and also more difficult, so I'm looking forward to it.

Been training in the ancient art of boxing with kicks for more than a decade now at a few gyms in…read moreand around L.A., and Classic Kickboxing by far is the CLEANEST. In fact, of all the gyms I've been to - including the ones that fit into the LA/24 Hour Fitness mould - this spot in the heart of Old Town Pasadena still remains the most diligent in terms of hygiene. And that's something that's often overlooked in gyms, especially ones that specialize in contact training and use mats. You can easily pick up a case of staph or any other crap that will do serious harm to your body if your gym floors and equipment are filthy and unkempt. (Google Ben Askren if you want to know what can happen to you if you train in a filthy gym.) Mauricio, Classic Kickboxing's owner/instructor, absolutely ensures that his establishment stays clean by reminding everyone to sanitize their stations after each session. That means wiping down the bags, mats, and everything else you've soiled. On that tangent, I know some other reviewers have complained about Mauricio being too militant about his gym's cleanliness, or - strangely enough - even bitched and moaned about the facility not being clean at all. I seriously doubt they've been to many other gyms. His cleaning regimen is not only for your safety, but others as well. Speaking of Mauricio, he is an excellent technical instructor and a really approachable guy. Don't be afraid to ask him questions. He is there to teach you! If you watch his instruction closely, you can see why he is a former Colombian kickboxing champ; his form and technique is excellent, especially his kicks, which he was known for during his career. You will definitely learn proper technique here if you pay attention. Mauricio's kickboxing classes are group instruction and ALL levels of skill are welcomed. Classes run for about 40 to 45 minutes or so and they involve striking and kicking drills, with some form of plyo in between. The last few minutes are meant for core/abs work and light stretching. Is it difficult? It really all depends on how much effort you put into it. You can move at your own pace for sure and nobody will call you out on it (I know some gyms use shame as a type of tactic to motivate you; works for some, most others not so much). But Classic Kickboxing really is a stress-free establishment that rewards those who put their all into their workouts. Other things to note: - The gym is big and beautiful to look at. Lots of heavy bags, lots of space. The other side of the facility has a full ring and another large room. This area is for private instruction only. - They have secured lockers on-site in case you'd like to stow away your valuables. - Parking is paid on the streets nearby, which is ideal. But if you can't find a spot, there are a lot of garages in the area within walking distance. - Mauricio is the primary kickboxing instructor. He has a couple others, but I'd recommend taking his class first (see their online schedule) if you're new. - His other instructors teach boxing and judo. One of his boxing instructors, Christian, was a sparring partner for former world champ Vasiliy Lomachenko. That says quite a lot. - Monthly dues are fair, and compared to the other kickboxing gyms I've been to, actually a bit cheaper. You schedule classes online through their website, or on the Mindbody app. - Best of all, this gym is MEATHEAD-free. Of all the contact gyms I've been to, there's always at least one fragile, big-ego type who walks around like they're the next big thing and tries to pick up on anyone who walks by. If they're here, I haven't seen them at all. And I'm here quite a bit. I believe Mauricio can spot these alpha fail types very quickly and "discourages" them from coming back. Bottom line: Classic Kickboxing is a fun, great workout in a stress-free, meathead-free, and super-clean environment. You couldn't ask for much more than that.
