We're back to nonsensical charges. I had paid for a membership in full back in early 2025. That membership I had agreed to and paid in full was $9.99 a month and close to $125 for the year. I expected to have to pay in full again this year but no I'm seemingly back on a monthly and Three months in a row now I've been automatically charged $88.99, $18.99 and now $19.99. I never agreed to any membership at these rates, the large sum I assume is the yearly charge for gym upkeep and what not. Understandable although hardly ever reflected in the gyms quality. So I went in two weeks ago to cancel my membership the girl at the desk said cancellations can only be done through the app now. Which is ludicrous. My app however with my only email I have, says I have not been a member since 2022. She says okay she will submit some sort of request for it to be cancelled. Well, two weeks have gone by nothing confirming my cancellation and I'm now being charged another recurring $19.99 but this time instead of it being the normal withdraw date of the 19th it's now 5 days earlier on the 14th..!? I've tried calling the location 5 times this morning no answer. What an absolutely horrendous gym this has become.

They ALWAYS stink of long-term toil. They need to be cleaned at *least* daily. Some bathrooms are non-functioning, some don't have functional locks on doors. They have plenty of staff. It doesn't make sense why routine cleaning in this place is nonexistent. Maybe they dont want to pay contractors? Dunno.

Planet Fitness in Fishkill has many strengths. The facility is generally clean, affordable,…read morereasonably well-maintained, and the staff has always been friendly. I appreciate the company's commitment to creating a Judgment Free Zone, which is one of the reasons I've remained a member. Unfortunately, one issue has become increasingly frustrating and, in my opinion, detracts from the overall member experience: excessive smartphone use throughout the gym--especially by members who occupy exercise equipment while doom scrolling social media, obsessive texting, or watching videos for 10-15 minutes between sets on the same machine. The problem isn't that people bring phones to the gym. Phones can be valuable tools for music, workout tracking, or training apps. The problem is when the phone becomes the primary activity while someone continues to occupy equipment that others are waiting to use. During busy hours, this creates unnecessary bottlenecks, disrupts workout flow, and makes it difficult for members with limited time to complete efficient, circuit-based workouts. Exercise offers far more than physical benefits. It improves mood, reduces stress, builds resilience, and provides one of the few opportunities many of us have each day to disconnect from the constant stimulation of our digital addictive world. A gym should be a place where people can focus on fitness, movement, mindfulness, and well-being--not another extension of the social media melee. Planet Fitness already promotes respect and consideration for fellow members, but I rarely see existing expectations regarding phone use meaningfully enforced. Consistent enforcement would benefit everyone while preserving the welcoming atmosphere the company has worked so hard to create.

I must say this gym is the best gym in the area! Although they aren't a 24 hour gym like Planet…read moreFitness or Snap, you defiantly get that staff friendly feeling and judgment free zone! They have plenty of equipment, great locker rooms (sauna and showers), friendly gym members, and AMAZING staff! This gym has really gone downhill. My main concerns are the outdated and poorly maintained…read moreequipment. The stairmasters have been out of order and bounce back in resistance while you're using them, which throws off your balance and makes them unsafe/unusable. We only have two stairmasters to begin with, and both have been down--more working ones are badly needed. The spin class seats are rock-hard and leave you bruised the next day. The water fountains and pretty much everything else feel outdated. Instead of fixing the machines, they prioritized painting the locker room walls--paint that chipped almost right away--then kept painting other areas while equipment sat broken. They recently started re-padding the leather on some machines, but the job looks terrible: full of wrinkles, mismatched colors (old maroon on some machines, black on others), and cheap-looking backboards. Nothing about the upgrades feels done well. On top of all that, they raised the rates when nothing has actually improved. Wall paint should not be the priority when the machines need real upgrades, especially if prices are going up. So many things need attention here, and right now it just doesn't feel worth the increase.
