I got my open water diver course certification from this place. Van, the owner, was ok but sometimes rude. Didn't seem too organized either.

My family has rented from Joe at Columbia River Boat Rental every year for the past 5 years. Our…read moreexperience is the opposite of what I have read in the reviews. We rented a ski boat and most recently a pontoon boat with a slide and we have had Great service from Joe, everything has been in working condition with the exception of a radio one time which was no big deal. We also rent 2 jet skis every year. There has been wear and tear on a couple but I alway send Joe a picture of the damage when we first get them. Are they brand spanking new in stellar condition NO thats because renters don't take care of the equipment, Joe does a great job of working with us and I have appreciated the relationship we have every year. I have found Joe to be very accommodating and helpful. Thank you Joe for the great service!!

This is about as poor business operations as they come. Whatever you do, DON'T rent from this…read morecompany. Now take a seat, and enjoy this tale of bush leaguery.... For $25 I reserved their 22ft Pontoon boat. "Joe" agreed to drive it to Crescent Bar where I was staying, from Wenatchee for an $80 fee. Ok, no problem. Morning of boat day comes, and Joe is at dock as promised on time, however the boat was already in the water. Interesting since he asked me to meet him to help get it in the water off the trailer. In hind's sight, I know why, but we'll get to that in a moment. He takes us on a very brief tour of the boat, and us being eager to get out on the water, didn't think of being a bit more thorough. My biggest mistake. Then we go to sign the contract in the back of his mobile "office" and he pulls the paperwork out of a five and dime suitcase that I think I remember seeing in the movie "Donnie Brasco". Get back on the boat and it starts as it just did when he took us for a tour. We motor out onto the Columbia River at about 3 knots as we got the boat ready to pick up the rest of our peeps. First things first...MUSIC! Aaaaaand the radio is busted. Call up Joe and he says "oh a fuse must be out." No sh**? So no worries, we grab a mobile music player, all our gear, the ladies, and pile into the boat ready for a day of adventures and laughs! Boat starts up just fine....but suddenly won't go into gear. Strange. We try and try and try, and nothing seems to work. So I call Joe. Mind you, this is the third call I've made about this POS boat in an hour. He tells me to keep trying and he'll get out to us as soon as he can. Reverse/Forward...nothing works. My friend sees something wrapped around the prop, so I dive in and untangle it. Upon doing so, I see this MASSIVE chunk taken out of one of the blades. This is not something you can do at 3 knots. Anyone who has ever hit something with a prop knows this. You FEEL it and know when you've hit something. Sooo, I call Joe....aaaagain to emphasize that we are stranded and that there is a huge chunk missing out of his prop, that we did not do. Kind of makes you curious why he dropped the boat into the water before we got there that morning, right? I agree. So after about 45 minutes, he arrives. Tries to get things working, and fails. I tell him again about the prop, and he states that there will be no charge for the day, and he'll void our entire transaction and apologized to all my friends. About an hour later, as we're all poolside and laughing about our amazing boat rental, I see a call that I missed from Joe with a voicemail stating that he voided the transaction but the only thing he "cannot control" is the cost of the delivery, but will not charge me for the prop that WE BUSTED????!!!!!!! My friend calls him back and listens to him go into a tantrum like a little child stating that he will never rent to us again, and that the prop was definitely our doing. The boat was apparently in perfect condition prior to our taking it up river about half a mile at 3 knots. So we broke the radio, the prop, and the drivetrain in 15 minutes, according to Joe. Impressive, right? Especially since I've been around boats my whole life. A second friend takes a shot at talking to this imbecile, and gets more of the same childish whining and almost gets hung up on. GREAT customer service! Hide behind that contract buddy. Hope that $80 you illegally charged my card is worth the lack of renters in your future.
