The second visit occurred in his office via TEXT MESSAGE with his PA! The pain he has caused me is simply heartbreaking. After finding an actual surgeon here is what was actually wrong. 1. Clavicle (Collarbone) Fracture - Chronic, Unhealed * Type: Comminuted (broken into pieces), displaced fracture of the distal clavicle. * Status: Ununited (hasn't healed), no bridging bone (callus) formation, despite some attempted healing. * Extra bone growth: Corticated fragments and posterior/inferior bony projections. * Joint involvement: Degenerative changes and cysts at the AC (acromioclavicular) joint. 2. Rotator Cuff Injuries * Supraspinatus tendon: Torn on both front and back sides. * Subscapularis tendon: Chronic degeneration (tendinosis), full-thickness tear. 3. Labral and Cartilage Damage * Reverse osseous Bankart lesion: A bone/cartilage injury from the socket (glenoid) involving the back of the shoulder. * Labrum: Multiple tears - anterior, posterior, inferior, and superior areas. * Cartilage: Thinning and surface damage throughout, especially in the front part of the joint (anterior chondrolabral junction). * Osteoarthritis: Moderate in both the AC and glenohumeral (shoulder ball-and-socket) joints. 4. This was left for the wrong Dr Edwards…read more My husband needed immediate surgery according to multiple other medical professionals and we were sent to Dr Edwards because he was supposedly the "best". From the get go they put us off and said our insurance required that he get injections and go to PT. PT and the injection Dr said there was nothing they could do for and that surgery was the only option. Dr E did nothing. We went to the ER, ER Dr contacted Dr E to see if he could expedite things. Dr E made up a whole lie about there being an issue with our insurance and it not covering the hospital we needed to go to for surgery, but that if we could get that figured out, he could get us in that week. We called our insurance and found out Dr E's office had not even filed anything with our Ins yet (2 mo into the process). Our Ins actually intervened to get the ball rolling. Dr E's office then lied again and said PT office had not sent them the paperwork needed, but we and the PT office had proof that they had. After much work by us and our Ins company, we got approved and surgery was 5/28. Surgery was half the time Dr E told us it was going to be so we were concerned from the get go, but hopeful. The first few weeks went fine but at 3 weeks PO, my husband started to have foot drop and his calf muscles were spasming like crazy. At his PO appointment the Dr's were made aware and saw it with their own eyes. They didn't say a word. In surgery they fused the L4/5 but from the beginning told us L3/4 was very questionable. We pushed for them to do it at the same time and questioned them about putting in spacers as had been recommended to us by Dr's in the past, both requests were deemed unnecessary by Dr E. At PO appointment the PA Brandi literally said something to the effect of "the 3/4 looks great. In fact, I don't think you'll ever have to do anything with it". Less than 6 hrs later my husband could barely walk more than a couple steps and was in worse shape than before surgery. FF 2 wks and his condition is getting worse by the day. He is falling due to weakness and worsening foot drop. We see Brandi again, she orders MRI which she says shows the 3/4 now needs surgery. She orders blood work to check for infection and says to call back with results and then we'll figure out next steps. We do bloodwork same day and call back the next morning with results. Nothing, call again, nothing. Husband has now lost bathroom function and sensation from the waist down, calling repeatedly over 10 day period, nothing. We see the pain mgmt Dr that works with Dr E and she is highly alarmed. She contacts Dr E's office and still nothing so she sends us to the ER. ER tries to contact Dr E and is told he is in surgery in Provo so they are trying to figure out how to help us. Finally Brandi calls to "return my call" after 10 days. It's decided to do another MRI and that he needs surgery. Dr E instructs them to tell us to he'll see us in office next week and schedule surgery "sometime in August"? My husband has lost the ability to go to the bathroom and has no sensation from the waist down and he wants to wait until sometime in August? Obviously the DR's at the ER knew that was an insane idea and that he would be paralyzed if he was left that long, plus I had no faith that Dr E's office would even return my phone calls to set up an appointment. It was decided to admit my husband and a new neurosurgeon was brought on. The surgery that Dr E did on my husband was half a$$ed and rushed. He didn't do half of what he told us he did. Spacers were needed, and the 3/4 level absolutely should have been done the first time. Dr E literally just went in, and screwed some screws in and called it a day. He didn't clean anything up, he didn't even attempt to straighten the spine. My husbands spine is straight now after the second surgery. I was shocked at the difference! Apparently, the Dr's and nurses involved were quite shocked and disgusted by the situation and how horribly the first surgery was done. They were very tactful about it, but they made it known. To top it off, I got a call from Brandi while my husband was in surgery and she was not happy that we hadn't listened their instructions. She was defensive and rude. She proceeded to tell me that the reason Dr E needed to wait until august was because he was out of the state...another lie! How are you out of the state and in surgery in the OR in Provo at the same time??? It's just lie after lie with them to cover their mess. It's unbelievable! My husbands spine is much better now, but may never walk 100% normally again due to their negligence and being left so long without treatment. His new Dr wanted him to go acute inpatient rehab for 2 weeks but unfortunately our insurance denied it so he will now require intensive outpatient PT for who knows how long. He is out of work for who knows how long and honestly. This has cost him and our family so much.

The doctor did not acknowledge the additional pain I was receiving he just concentrated on the pain I had on my left ankle which entailed: syndesmosis full ligament tear. I planned to have surgery but it was postponed due to Mountain West Surgical Center employee Brian BERG not working with myself on payment options. BERG rejected my surgery and I had to visit another doctor because I couldn't come up with 50% of $2,300 prior to being billed to my insurance. I've never dealt with a company that didn't work out a deal to bill insurance or accept debit card information for payment at a later date. BERG was requesting my personal financial history in order to receive surgery. I was not comfortable with that because no one has ever asked me for that type of information in my entire medical history records. I received diagnosis from another doctor that I also have a bone break (fibula bone break) due to the ankle injury and Dr. Johnston didn't acknowledge that after getting an MRI done. I would not recommend going to Mountain Orthopaedics nor Mountain West Surgical Center because you won't be diagnosed correctly and they'll expect you to pay an arm and a leg just to get a procedure done. A couple of experiences have made me a loyal patient. A few years ago I suddenly had excruciating low back and leg pain + numbness after a normal day of skiing. I was incapacitated, unable to walk, sit, stand, or lay flat to find pain relief. This went off and on for months. My orthopedist only offered gabapentin for nerve pain, but it treated the symptom, not the problem. After visiting the ER in the middle of the night with nothing to show for it but a $500 charge and a few pills for pain, I committed to a program of adjustments and physical therapy three days a week for several months at Integrated Wellness. This helped me rehabilitate and improve my strength in areas that were overcompensating and causing nerve pain. I also purchased a life changing Theragun and TENS unit. These weren't gimmicks. They worked to get me in with Dr. Pyne for a chiropractic adjustment and Dr. Becky for some physical therapy before closing at noon. Dr. Pyne gives a fantastic adjusment and has saved me from misery more times than i can remember, and this time was no exception. Then, Dr. Becky took me through a treatment for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo which occurs as a result of displaced otoconia, which are small crystals of calcium carbonate, that have detached from the inner ear and collect in the semicircular canals of the year. The treatment included a series of head movements that shift these particles back to the inner ears, alleviating the severe sensation of motion. Shockingly, the effect was immediate. Vertigo was gone. My weekend would proceed as planned. Honorable mention to PTA John who kept me laughing through the yacking. I was even offered a shot for nausea afterward to help with any lingering effects. Additionally, Dr. Becky walked me through a series of protocols that I can practice to build better tolerance to motion with the goal of enjoying some of my favorite activities without getting sick, every.single.time. I am constantly recommending Integrated Wellness to everyone who complains of pain. Go in with a clear objective and make decisions with your health care provider there. Be clear on what your insurance will cover and what you're willing or able to invest. To me, long term mobility and high quality of life are everything, and I'm lucky to have this exceptional resource right here in Bountiful. Bonus- Integrated Wellness has a massage therapy studio upstairs with some of the best therapists anywhere. They are well studied in the field of anatomy and physiology, and go beyond a basic feel good massage. And the prices are ridiculously reasonable.

I wanted to write a different review for medic Sandra Robinson who was kind but not helpful. My gut issues were dodged not addressed. If its broken they see it. If not the obvious they deter it. Never a helpful resolution. I gave COPE/Ogden Clinic/Call Center (different company) one more go ~ They had an in house therapist for domestic abuse. She was very young and she was very rude stating "I feel your holding back"- NO training/knowledge in domestic abuse, No help outside of a shallow religious Davis County realm. We are in a Real World of violence! Help with domestic abuse, addictions, grief counseling or resources available for such traumas are not her thing. But I was certainly charged for nonsense! This whole place is a joke!
