Our 3 beagles came home happy. So something's being done right by the staff. Usually they are panting for the first hour after leaving a kennel. Not after their stay at the Old Stone Pet Lodge. They were calm and relaxed, happy to see us but not that desperate sound of being happy to get away. When we picked them up- we got to watch them play on the snow hill from the camera in the lobby area. They looked happy. The staff is SO friendly and the dogs didn't have that "kennel smell" that they typically have at other kennels. We will definitely be back if ever in the area again. Upon collection, my dog was visibly trembling and in an unprecedented state of distress, far beyond his usual initial apprehension. It is important to note that at seven years old, he has undergone numerous grooming sessions throughout his life without ever exhibiting such extreme post-grooming trauma. The full extent of the horror became apparent shortly after. Once I secured him in his car seat and returned home, I discovered a horrifying scene: his entire car seat was saturated with blood. Closer inspection revealed that every single one of his nails had been severely butchered and was bleeding profusely. I believe they charge $200 per cat, which is a fair price. This store is owned by Mary and Joe who bought the place when it moved from the former location. The usual inventory of pet supplies and aquarium fish. Sure you might get a part time person who isn't very knowledgeable once in awhile but generally well trained staff who love animals. Don't believe those earlier posts about cleanliness and poor hamsters up for adoption. That's not the way it is here. Go see for yourself and clear your head playing with some kittens!
