Dr. Gilchrist has a profoundly sane approach to patient care including empathy, humor and access. I am able to reach my doctor any time, and receive a response almost immediately. He is available via text always and is also quite easy to schedule with. I have never (never!) had to wait to see him. Beyond being very knowledgeable, easy to talk with and amazingly kind, Dr. Gilchrist also provides a level of care that is incredible. He has dropped off prescriptions for me, been proactive with insurance issues and worked diligently to find me other providers, such as physical therapy, who are equally good. Concierge care may require new thinking at first. Paying a subscription rate on top of insurance can seem prohibitive, but when given the level of care and contact, it's actually quite a bargain. Dr. Gilchrist has seen me several times a month, as well as offered referrals, text consults and encouragement, all within my monthly cost. No copay, no additional fees, and of course all services that he refers too work with insurance as usual. It's an easy win- and genuinely adds to my health and well being to be part of his concierge practice. I would encourage anyone to get in and see Dr. Gilchrist! He's the absolute best!

I have…read moreseveral life threatening illnesses, & am caught in the midst of new doctors and/or many attitude/negative changes to practices. Dr. D not only blamed me for my illnesses, that are inherited & very serious, he asked me where my neuropathy pain was. I briefly pointed to the 2 spots in my legs, then Dr. told me to "quit complaining". I came to him per my insurance company's suggestion because of the severity of my medical issues at 68 years old, also to ask him for a scan on my stomach/rectal area that had malignancy taken out about 2 years ago, that is painful 24/7 & has bled intermittently after the malignancy was taken out. He refused any scans, because he himself didn't diagnose it, also he hadn't read any of the 62 pages of medical records I brought in at 1st visit last week, from Lane County for the last 19 years. I asked him to please, per my insurance company's Case Management's request, send a referral to Palliative Care that I do qualify for. He refused that, too. My impression is that he wanted to start from scratch to make his own evaluation. If I wasn't so sick with internal bleeding issues, consistent stomach pains, alleged IBS/Crohns Disease (suggested by a specialist/provider last year), I would have been agreeable to Dr. D's requests, though partially, because I've had severe problems with stools (constipation), requiring hospitalization, since I was 8 years old, also possibly inherited. Dr. D said that my 2.5 years of low dose pain meds for Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Osteoarthritis, etc.,etc., is the cause of my constipation. Again, he didn't read a thing about my past medical history the 19 years here in OR + other state I lived. This has been going on for 29 years. I don't mean only bathroom difficulties/issues, but severe & life threatening medical issues. I was put on SSDI in '97. To top this, he didn't continue my pain meds, so I'm cut off cold turkey. I felt as if I had to pull teeth for my heart meds, also he didn't prescribe me my Pro-Air asthma/COPD inhaler. His medical assistant also neglected to log in my very high systolic blood pressure reading because she intimated that "I have too many issues to put in necessary info". This girl had a bad attitude from the start, maybe due to having a bad day. Please note: I was refused any/all referrals, whether to Digestive or pain management. Dr. D said that he's an Internist & doesn't refer, also he said he doesn't specialize in Digestive issues (that's why I needed the referrals). I fired Dr. "D" the next day & have to wait a couple weeks to see a new Primary Care Dr. Time is of essence. I am scared. I hurt. The pain everywhere is unbearable, & I just want help from a doctor/specialist. I don't want to die like this. Staff in reception....awesome! Kim was so helpful, & the 2 other ladies went out of their way to help me log in my pages full of info on their tablet. I was very impressed, also grateful for them! I've been instructed by our state Senator, to contact Senior/Disabled Advocacy, because our senator is not happy with this issue & others from me/other patients. He wants to be apprised of what the State Advocacy says & does as far as my grievances, & I am to keep contact with the Senator. This, he said, is unacceptable! I will call/contact State Advocacy tomorrow, Monday. I wished it had worked out with Dr. "D".

The staff are caring, competent, and provide strength-oriented patient empowerment. They have helped me through good times and challenging times and put up with me when I was not at my best. Recently, I had an opportunity to read the clinical notes of a recent visit. Wow, do they listen! I cannot imagine better care.

AND THE WORST 'HEALTHCARE' AS WELL-though I'm hesitant to even call it that. I did not at all feel like Jan cared about my *personal* needs. She was warm and friendly enough until I asked her to order some tests that I wanted, or to think outside of her narrow thoughts. I was only asking for a comprehensive thyroid panel-we aren't talking expensive hypochondriac things. When I told her that a topical medication she prescribed was causing dryness and irritation, she dismissed my concerns and told me to keep using it. I took my son to see Dr. Copperman for a specific concern and he told my son that his issues were his own fault. His blaming alienated me, shamed my son and did NOTHING to address the concern we came in for. I have NEVER been treated this way before by anyone. His care was so terrible that I sat in the car crying from anger. I asked for a referral for my son, and was handed a list of providers and told they would send over a referral. When I called to follow-up, the referral told me they weren't accepting new patients. I called the clinic back but no one was available to help me. 3 days later they returned my multiples calls and said they'd send it through to another. That one ALSO was not accepting new patients. And then it happened a third time. Finally, I started calling around and then asked the new clinic to call for a referral and it took a week to receive it! As if that wasn't enough, the front office told me that I did not need to make a co-pay for a visit. I told them, are you sure? I usually do. They told me no, and refused to take any payment. When I was then billed for it, I called to find out why and was placed on hold, or hung up on, and never got an answer. When I went in for the next appointment, they told me at the appointment that I had to pay a $100 deposit to be seen since I was delinquent on my bills. DELINQUENT. It was a $20 co-pay. I was there for an appointment and had no other choice if I wanted my son to be seen.

We searched for different options, and are so happy that we landed at the Willamette Valley Cancer Center. First, the front desk including Shirley, Jada, and others is so welcoming, kind, gracious and compassionate. Shirley went out of her way to get us into see Dr. Wells as soon as possible. Jada welcomes each patient, and whoever is with them with a big smile, enthusiastic greeting, and constant warmth and kindness. This process is so daunting, but right from the time you walk in the door- you feel you are in the best of hands. Dr. Wells, his nurses and staff have been wonderful. Dr. Wells treats my dad each time like he is the most important patient in the world. He listens, and explains things thoroughly in a language that my father and our family can understand. When my dad had to go to radiation therapy, the staff there was outstanding. Robby made my dad as comfortable as possible for each and every treatment. Taking an interest in his personal life, and hearing him brag about his grandkids on each visit. Once the immunotherapy treatment began, they continued to treat my father with great grace and kindness. Denise has been super each time. She is kind and patient, without fail. If you are reading this, I'm very sorry. I know you are in a tough spot, and I hope you can have the same success my father is having. When he had his visit they told him that the cancer had spread to his lungs, which was NOT true. He then received world class cancer treatment out of state and that's where we learned this horrible truth. The cancer itself (skin cancer) could have been treated but the damage on his lungs made it too difficult for him to fight and he did not survive. He went to WVC for help. He trusted them and felt comfortable letting them treat him. And in return they were careless and killed an otherwise very healthy and active man. It was shocking and incredibly painful. WVC, there is nothing to discuss. Please do not ask me to reach out to you. We are devastated.

I started going to Keiper Spine about 14 years ago with lower back pain, and for years, I would…read moreperiodically get cortisone injections in my spine that offered amazing relief. But about 5 years ago, the pain wasn't going away after the injection like it usually did, and in fact seemed to be going in a different direction. So, Dr. Keiper ordered an MRI of my left SI joint, and sure enough, that was a new problem. A year or two of successful cortisone injections fixed the problem - until it didn't. Dr. Keiper told me that there was a surgery he could perform that would probably relieve all of my pain, and I agreed to go forward with that plan. But my insurance, Blue Cross, denied me the surgery several times, claiming that it was not medically necessary. After the injections stopped working and surgery was going to be the only way for me to be free of almost constant pain while moving (On the 1 to 10 pain scale, I was between 6 and 8 the majority of my awake hours), which was severely impacting my quality of life. Even doing simple household chores like vacuuming, laundry, gardening, etc., was miserable. Finally, Blue Cross did approve the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Keiper, and the results have been amazing. For all of the years I have been seeing Dr Keiper and his other staff at Keiper Spine, I have always been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism from the front office to the nurses and medical assistants. I would highly recommend Dr. Keiper and his staff to anyone who is looking for relief from back pain. I think he is the best neurosurgeon in Oregon!

She then passed me off to Teri who continued prepping me, answering all my questions and staying with me until it was time to go to the operating theater. When I awoke there was another nurse ( didn't get her name) who stayed with me until I was released. Because I am hypoglycemic she had my choice of apple juice or apple sauce waiting for me when I awoke. Everything went very smoothly and would definitely use the facility again.
