Went in for hip replacement and everything went perfectly. The staff was great and all went smoothly. The doctor and nurses were wonderful. The check-in went smoothly, as well as the check out. If you have a choice this is the place to go. read more

My family's experience with Mckenzie-Willamette Medical Center was frought with confusion, distress, and unaccountability; and ended in the worst possible way. My sister was admitted for routine gall bladder surgery, outpatient, performed by Bryan McVey. When she started experiencing abdominal pain outside of the normal expectation for recovery, she reached out to the hospital who would, in effect, listen, take some notes, and brush her off to the next day. This happened many times; I was present for one of these calls on my turn watching over her. I never heard a call more 'take two of these and call us in the morning' in my life. It came to the point where my sister had developed blood boils and our dad brought her to Riverbend where it was revealed that sepsis had set in from a prolonged infection due to a nick in her intestine missed by the performing surgeon, Bryan McVey. The staff at Riverbend helped my sister fight for weeks until she succumbed to the infection and left us. As tragic and avoidable as this ordeal was, the final insult was the behavior of Mckenzie-Willamette in the aftermath. First was the tepid consolation from Bryan McVey and the hospital and their refusal to admit any wrongdoing during my sister's procedure or cop to the outright neglect the aftercare staff showed her. We reached out several times for resolution to no avail. We even enlisted the help of OPSC, an organization devoted to patient safety that specializes in facilitating communication between the parties of patient/doctor for the purpose of clarity and closure, to which McKenzie-Willamette refused to participate. This experience has given me the responsibility to not recommend this hospital and Bryan McVey. I would give zero stars if possible because one star is more than they deserve. To any and all who read this far, Do Not seek treatment here; they are run by cold, neglectful flunkies who employ impersonal, unaccountable narcissists. They are cowards who hide behind wrongful death insurance policies do not deserve to be trusted with your loved ones' lives. My sister would be 38 today. read more

Went to emergency room for medical reasons. Nothing urgent, not dying however, many tests lots of blood work I have never experienced such a great ER. All of the staff was extremely professional very kind worked extremely efficient. I had to have two different scans and bloodwork. They move you along with such efficiency and grace. every single person I encountered from the check-in desk the gentleman that set my IV the person that did my ultrasound. The person that did my CAT scan. The nurses and PA were just fabulous. I travel all over and have been to many emergency rooms and hospitals these guys know what they're doing. I was there 11/17/2025 from 1:30PM. So if you were working those hours, congrats for the great service. read more

My partner was a patient here a couple of years ago and he had a terrible experience. I was also a patient last summer and had a bad experience. First, my partner was admitted to the ER for suspected appendicitis. He was in an ER room for about 5 hours before we got admitted. He was on fluids and pain meds but had a fever of 104 and was still in a lot of pain, bordering on delirium. They did a CT and we talked to the surgeon, Dr. Stites, who confirmed appendicitis and recommended against surgery because he thought it was too risky due to the inflammation from the infection. He elected to treat with antibiotics and keep us admitted for a few days. A few days turned into a week, and we didn't get released until Christmas Day. They did repeat CTs two times and sent him home saying the infection had improved and would resolve on its own with oral antibiotics. He ended up back in another ER a couple weeks later and they found that his appendix had burst before he was discharged from MWMC and formed a massive abscess, which they drained while he was in the hospital for another week. He finally had surgery three months later to remove the remnants of his burst appendix. Dr. Stites and the radiologists at MWMC sent my partner home with a burst appendix and an abscess full of infection. The only reason this isn't a one star review is because one of the nurses he had, Bo, was fantastic. He was incredibly kind and personable, answered all of our questions, explained things clearly and in-depth, and responded to requests quickly and kindly. Bo alone was a 5 star experience. Seven months later, I ended up in the ER at MWMC because my doctors office was concerned I was having a heart attack. I wasn't taken into a triage room for about an hour, where they did an EKG and hooked me up to a monitor. My BP was 173/100 and my heart rate was 120, and they didn't even put me on fluids. I was eventually released with no diagnosis and a 72-hour holter monitor that I was to return at the end of the recording period. When that period was up, I dropped the monitor off at the front desk of MWMC as requested. They said they would get it up to cardiology. That was in July 2023 and I never once heard back. I never got results. I called multiple times and was told there was no record of a holter monitor for me. The fact that they lost my monitor is a huge HIPAA concern, and they did not seem at all concerned by this. This hospital is a mess and a nuisance. They are a medical malpractice suit waiting to happen. If you want your loved one to recover from their ailment, take them elsewhere. Literally anywhere else. read more

This hospital is horrible, if you truly love and care for someone never let them go here! They don't offer an autopsy after a loved one dies under their care, (like OHSU offers their patients family when they die at OHSU.) There should really be a 0 star option.. read more

you can't continuously have the same problem and do nothing about it. Sat in those chairs for 8 hours. 1 hour of that was treatment. 2 hours at the end to say I need to hydrate and take a steroid??? Multiple employees were extremely rude, and not one apology about the wait time. Heard employees talking crap about patience and complaining about having to work the job they signed up for and get paid for. next time I think I'll just die instead of suffering for a whole day. If negative stars was possible it would be -10. There was also people there that had been waiting 10 hours???? Elderly people! If y'all know you suck at least get better chairs or even better some beds since I have to spend the whole day there. They didn't have time to help me when I couldn't breathe at all, but they were able to order dominos and eat it? absolutely disgusting. read more

Come to the hospital a lot for emergency. Some days are good. Some days are really bad like today. Take me two hours ago. There's been three people have come in. I am still sitting there still Dunn intake. I was here yesterday. Sat here for four hours. My hip hurts my back hurts And they told me I was constipated, even though I poop regularly so I went home back is still hurting hurting cause I have a huge gigantic hole in my shoulder. There's been three people in here the last two hours and I'm still just sitting here. The lady said the doctor is behind Always the security guards and people walking around and talking and laughing. I'm the only person in the emergency room for the last hour, I don't recommend coming to this hospital. If you're in a hurry on a Tuesday Monday, they seem pretty quick. Some staff are really good. Other staff are just not supposed to be here. They definitely should not be working in the medical field they have no consideration for patient. They have not even looked at the big gigantic hole. There's a beer in my shoulder. They're not asked a question about it. They've not even taken my insurance information yet. They took my blood pressure and that was it and I don't see me going in anytime soon trying to find a new emergency room at least on Tuesdays. I was born in this hospital almost 50 years ago. Have to say, the new ED is horribly designed, and the staff there was obviously not consulted at all in its design. There is no way to efficiently move patients from intake through triage and into rooms, even during a not very busy time there are gurneys, trash, housekeeping, etc to get through - if you can find your way It's a mess! Last night we went to the ER for a rapid heart rate. We were taken to a room immediately. In no time we met Tim Garvey PA and Christopher RN. My husband was hooked up to a monitor, lab was drawn, and a chest X-ray and EKG were ordered. Tim and Christopher were smart, organized, and kind. They both explained what they were doing and why. This was SUPERB emergency room care. We are so grateful. read more

I was very sick - not sure what was wrong. They kept me overnight took all kinds of tests and today I'm feeling a little tired but back to normal. All of the staff were fantastic especially the Nurse Denise and the CNA Amber. Super efficient, went out of their way to reassure me that my odors and disgusting output were normal, extra pleasant personalities, and very professional (actually said sorry when a procedure hurt). I felt very well looked after. I have had many hospital encounters over the years - this was the only time I didn't have a bad experience!!! I won't feel as reluctant to go to the ER and hospital the next time I need help. read more

Hi was a patient last week at at this Springfield Oregon hospital I had my child there 17 years ogo. And nothing was the same the doctors have no time for you I thought I was in a another country that could not believe I was being treated my family that would visit me also treated with no respect nurses are not attentive there short rude and and don't want go out of there way to get what should b and part of there job my sheets on my bed after 4 days my husband changed then no shower no offering sponge shower the nurse AJ wasone of the unbelievable people there no campassion to my family or myself it was unbelievable what I was seeing please do your a selver and go to a another hospital it's hard to say that when your in so much pain you go to go hospital for help thing went very Wrong from to simplys wheel chairs to getting food in cafeteria it's like we were treated from another country and our family did not think in my life I would have to write a letter like this I would never leave any one I love there I also did not receive my pain medicine after 5 hour after a surgery and how would feel to no doctor showing you and your family a photo on the operation table wide open not my face but my whole belly wide open kinda leave a sick feeling in your gut.Just case you need who is I call that night for me at hopital Scott Russi md good luck always do your homework on the hospital staff also after care at his office was also a joke just because hospital hires medical doctors there always professional you also won't find his business on yelp so should tell you something does not add up read more
