A designated stop on the Oregon Scenic Byways Program, there are telescopes you can use. Named after the Jonsrud family who lived in Sandy in 1877, one of the original pioneer families Who built and lived in a prairie style home that is still visible across the street. So that everyone could enjoy this magnificent and expansive views, their son donated the viewpoint property to the city of Sandy in 1984. What a gift! There is a small parking area but there are typically not a lot of cars so I've never had any issues parking here. Go! The view is incredible in every season! Especially in the fall and always at sunset.

Plenty of water/river access, but you can't really walk along the river if that was your plan. There is a large picnic shelter that was closed up with locked gates, so I'm not sure if that can be reserved for use. The restroom at the shelter was also locked, but there were 2 port-a-potties in the park (one at the front & one in the back).

This is a few forested trails, one that leads to the river, but not an actual "park" as the name…read morewould imply. Parking is at a dead-end in the neighborhood where the main trailhead is. The trail to the river is down a slope for quite a distance, so the hike back up the incline is a workout. No restroom or toilet facility.

Based off what I saw, I'm sure at other times of year it would be much prettier. You have to keep a pretty slow pace right now, as the trails are very muddy...ice covered mud in quite a few places. The main Sandy River trail is more like a road, with a viewpoint of the river near the bottom. The Jim Slagle loop was a single file trail, and slightly more enjoyable than the main trail. A lot of mud, not the greatest scenery, and the occasional trash made for a "not one of my favorites" hike...especially in the land of gorgeous trails.

We hit 3 amazingly beautiful wineries on this tour. I came in only wanting one winery in particular and Janine did a great job picking the other two. Kramer vineyards could not be more perfect. Schedule a river trip and enjoy some amazing rapids and beautiful scenery as you take a wild float down the Salmon river. Our guide was Victor and he was amazing. He nailed every rapids giving us the best adrenaline seeking advenruee we wanted. Our family vacation was complete because of this trip! A few things to know: - the water is cold, but they give you a wetsuit and it helps a ton! - you will paddle! and that makes it more fun - if you want a less adventurous trip - tell the guide and they can avoid big rapids. - usually i dont encourage my son to jump off of bridges but he did and it was awesome - they have a photographer situated at different spots on the river and you can buy the pics for an extra fee. It isnt that expensive and they do a great job! - tip your guide.
