We don't belong to this vet regularly. But we had to say goodbye to our dog and didn't want to…read moredrive so far to our normal veterinarian. They let us come in, accommodated the time we requested, they were kind and patient, and the vet that assisted us was very empathetic, talked me through our decision, and let me have the time I needed. They were also very reasonable on the cost. When we are ready for another family member to join our home I hope we can get into them for our veterinary needs.

Overpriced babysitters: Moved from down south and attempted to schedule routine care for my animals…read more(no luck), all appointments were only available to be booked on an "emergency" basis where the receptionist insisted you call the morning of to see if they have availability (aka they're ensuring they can collect the "emergency" fee despite the fact that you were trying to schedule an appointment for over a week.) Next, I was charged over $500 for an emergency appointment for a suspected abcess (I specifically requested radiographs, blood work, etc....the original visit did not include radiographs and they said after watching the dog all day and guaranteeing that they gave him a full "check over" and he had a full bill of health ....when I picked the dog up, they told me they had not conducted the radiographs like I originally requested and that without "sedating the dog" it would be impossible (this is complete BS. Dog is non-aggressive, 100% cooperative, and Sedating an Animal for any procedure is always the LAST RESORT!!! Sedation can cause more issues and it is not necessary to gather the required images.) So I picked up my dog and paid the $600+bill thinking he actually had a full work up....Nope, most of that bill was the upcharge for absolutely nothing. Said nothing, paid the bill and tried to leave the office, only for the receptionist to start recommending a bunch of other services and vaccinations....that should have been covered during the $600 examination I paid for. Not while I'm walking out the door....I also paid for blood work. I have yet to receive a print out, call back, or any results regarding the blood work. I actually know how to read all of the requested reports and want to see them for my own records.......Something tells me, I paid $250+ for bloodwork they never actually conducted....how would I know? They dog had no evidence of having blood drawn when I picked him up and they have yet to provide the results months later....but I digress. (That is animal #1) I called again today to attempt to schedule an emergency euthanashia or appointment for my senior dog who is in active pain. They had the audacity to act shocked that I would expect them to have avaliability on short notice, stated they wouldn't be able to schedule me for a week out, and referred me to a clinic two hours away from me. When I told them a 22 was more humane than redirecting your clients to a clinic two hours away or delaying care for over a week.... They had the audacity to act like they did not know what I was talking about.. So in short....No this office does not care about making sure they are there for you and your animals in their time of need. I have seen better bedside manner in the morgue.....I literally work at the morgue. They do have a beautiful facility, but if they're more interested in up charging clients to keep up the facade of a curb appeal rather than ensuring their client's needs are met...that's sad. At this point in time, the best solution I have found to finding reasonable Vet care for my animals is to load them up and drive them South to California.

Called the office to let them know and she does not care enough to call and ask what happened. Be careful if you love your baby find a vet that is not so money driven, find one that cares about your baby and you. He was only 4 years old. Now in research it looks like it was goiters if Dr Heidi had treated him correctly he would not have struggled to breathe and he would still be here today.

I have been taking my 3 animals to this vet for about 4 years or so; the previous veterinarian quit…read morerecently, and she was great. My most recent issue is the staff that works the front counter and primarily deals with check in, receiving animals weight and payment prior to leaving. They are extremely disrespectful, impatient and are not educated in the field. They also lost or misplaced our animal records: including medication, vaccination and prior surgery records. Thankfully we will keep copies of all the records. On top of that the staff was selling us the incorrect dosage and weight hip vitamin for our smaller dog. There is plenty of veterinary hospitals and or offices in the Grants Pass area. I would avoid this location at all costs.

Dr. Heidi has been our Vet for nearly 25 years (several large dogs, cats and even for advice on our…read morehens.) Her demeanor is friendly, while professional and extremely knowledgeable--and she communicates with our dogs and cats extremely well...making them at feel at ease--even when under stress of an (what is to them an) unfamiliar environment. As another reviewer stated (and I agree) foremost on her mind is the well being of your pet---not letting your (the owners) emotions get in the way of your pet's best interest---which rightly SHOULD top priority of any Vet's interest. When need be, she is firm in the best interest of your animal--while YOU may be falling apart emotionally, and that is definitely a PLUS in my book! 5 STARS for Dr. Heidi !!!

To the scathing 1star reviews: Dr. Heidi is there for your pet, not for you, and I am 100% positive…read moreyour pet does not find her "rude" or "abrasive" or lacking in empathy in any way. Maybe she's better with animals. Maybe that's why she's a vet. I found Dr. H. to be a stunningly intelligent person and a very apt clinician who, no, will not spare your feelings when it comes to your ignorance or the wellbeing of your animal. She is, however, very willing and able to meet YOU half way if you're willing to talk as directly as she does (and maybe interrupt if need be!). But these reviews have me better understanding why she took her multiple medical degrees into veterinary work instead of having to deal with humans. (And there is absolutely NO way that this woman replied "it's just a dog" in the context the reviewer described. The are mistaken in their interpretation of this verbiage, I guarantee it.)
