Super-WOW. I am so delighted with the grooming on my dog by Tim. My dog has allowed only one human male near her (my adult son) ever. She has bitten nearly every groomer we've ever taken her to. I told Holly and Tim that she very well may bite--and Holly said Tim would be grooming her--I was very skeptical about that being successful. Truly when I take her to be groomed, my main concern is just getting enough hair/fur off to make her comfortable and not neglected-looking. And it has always taken 4-6 hours to be done. Because she's been so challenging. Um, I got a call 1.5 hours after I left her there that she was done. Wow. When I picked her up, I was stunned to find out that Tim did indeed groom her! He knows how to approach and care for animals. AND...she has the best haircut ever! She looks gorgeous. Usually when I pick her up from grooming, she's lethargic that day and for several thereafter. It's like the experience had worn her out--then she seems to have been weirded-out by her new fur length--like an identity crisis. Today she was/is buoyant, vibrant, energetic. I can tell she feels great! Tim left just the perfect amount of fur on. And honestly, Groom at the Top has an intimate, nurturing feel in the ethers. It feels very personal. It's the warmth I think she really responded to well also. I can absolutely recommend Holly and Tim for animal grooming. Also, the cost was astonishingly affordable. After having our two shepherds groomed by other establishments here in town, boy were we lucky to have found this shop! Tim & Holly are fantastic people who really know their craft. In addition, they show all the love you would hope for when leaving your fur missiles with someone else. Our dogs are not the easiest to manage (big, loud, anxious) but these folks handle them perfectly with kindness. After coming here for a couple years now, I feel confidant in this review's accuracy. They of course to a great job at washing, drying, brushing and trimming their nails. The shop is always swept up and clean considering the tasks at hand must be messy. Everyone else's dogs are also well taken care of as seen by their doggie smiles. They offer a choice of shampoos and we choose their oatmeal variety because it is the least allergenic for our pooches. And did I say fast? Yup, they provide a great service with speed and a smile. What a wonderful group of people. I was nervous as this is a new groomer for me and I care so much about my doggo. But let me tell you, my dog looks, smells and feels so fresh. I NEED to note that this is the first groomer that's been able to cut my dogs nails. WOW is what I had to say. Everyone was so nice. Day of visit: 2/23/2018 Time:9AM-10:30AM Rating: 1/5 stars This is not the groomers for your felines! When I brought in a white,long haired cat for grooming as a favor to his owner it was based on the great reviews from previous customers. When I spoke to the young man who would be taking care of Spud, we agreed upon three things: a bath,nail trimming, and a hair cut (Spud had some knots that needed removing). I came in to pick Spud up, and he was already locked in his carrier. All I could see of him was a trimmed face. Here's our overall experience: Spuds nails were trimmed as we requested, and he received a bath. Both were fine. The haircut left ALOT to be desired. I wish I had taken Spud out of his carrier before I brought him home to a now very upset owner. This once long haired cat has been shaved down nearly to the skin! In our attached pictures his irritated skin is visible. Neither his owner or I dare let him outside for more than a few minutes at a time-theres nothing to keep him warm. Since Friday (02/23/18), we have found miltuple places where Spud was knicked by the trimmers/shears,along his back and shoulders. Spud is now an indoor cat-at least until he has enough hair not to freeze and his sore spots have healed! We will be finding another groomers. read more

They do excellent work, and are very nice. Unfortunately they are not very available, that whole small town we are open till the last dog but won't take dogs that get them out past 2 at the latest so maybe they should just say they are open till noon. They are also closed A LOT! For example they are supposed to be back from taking Xmas off on 12/29.. Nope never opened, the next time I called they had changed the answering machine to being closed till Jan 5,2016! Oh well as much as I like them I really need someone more dependable, it's a shame. read more

Last year I Adopted a 13 year old long haired cat from the shelter. He had some pretty bad mattes that needed to be shaved. I quickly learned that most places, vets included, don't shave or groom cats. Since he was adopted I had no idea what his temperament would be while getting groomed. They told me to bring him down and that they would give it a go. They groomed him is front of me and were assertive enough to get the job done but gentle enough to put my cat and me at ease. Just an update, this place still does a great job with our Aussie and he loves to go there. It's one thing to get a good job done, it's another when your dog likes being there and does not mind being left. Prices are fair for the job and I have never had a problem getting an appointment. read more

Excellent place to get your pet cleaned up. They provide the soap washcloth and drying towel. He even helped me lift my Dobie into the tub. I didn't realize that they do not except debit or credit cards. He pointed me to the nearest ATM and let me leave with my dog to get the cash. That was awesome. read more

Our dogs have been groomed here fairly regularly over several years. We had a lab that we self-groomed and got hair everywhere and just generally made a mess - they were always so sweet about it. He was such a happy old guy, who has now passed. Our cocker spaniel is mid-sized and we have always made appointments for them to wash and clip him. They have left his ears / top long, given a cocker cut / also shaved him for the summer - whatever we request, he is always adorable. This is a mom & pop operation and they don't have long hours for one reason because they have a life too and i respect that. They are consistently friendly, available and sweet to the dogs which is another reason they have shorter hours due to the hot windows in the summer- and that's worth any slight inconvenience to me over hours. read more

GROOM AT THE TOP DOG GROOMING REVIEW Ashlee and I took Wingnut and Tbone in to this "mom & pop" type local grooming shop today got the first time. I'd looked for months for a self serve wash place after tractor supply closed theirs (until at least 2021 ‍‍) Honestly I'd rather support our local families than a chain anyway. Ok on to the review: The facility is clean and personable. When we walked in the man was clipping/grooming a golden doodle right in the right. Positive #1-they arent truing yo hide anything. There were 3 other dogs walking around behind their gates. Well mannered and calm dogs. Positive #2- how can you go wrong being greeted by friendly happy dogs? (If youve a dog aggressive dog please don't go there) The owners/Staff are very welcoming and friendly. They talk and explain things like you're a friend. Positive #3- they take the time to be helpful and nice, no corporate pressure for them! They have two big tubs with long hoses and spray nozzles. The tubs are up high enough to be gentle on your back, regardless of your dogs size. They also have a ramp to make it easy and safe for your big dog to get in and out. Positive #4-they are happy to assist with the ramp to ensure your pets safety! They provide; shampoo (or you're welcome to bring your own), cotton for the ears and ear cleaner. An apron to keep you dry (we didn't use one because it's warm out and hey, another shower never hurts lmho), a commercial blow dryer with a cool setting to blow the water off of your dog, & towels to complete the dry. They also provide slicker brushes to complete your grooming. Positive#5- They are all happy to help you with everything, and are very friendly toward your pet. The only "blah" was they were a tad spendy. It cost me $20 per dog BUT they are both big boys and take more shampoo. And water, which being city, they pay for so it's ok. Plus it's supporting a local business. Considering all they provide, their friendliness and helpfulness, the ease of giving them a bath in a cool dry place, with warm water and that it saves on our backs hips and knees, and makes it easier on the boys too, that price is well worth it all in my book. Positive #6 - We're home, the boys are clean and Ashlee & I can still walk! All in all I give them !! We will definitely be back as long as they stay open. BTW for someone looking to get their dog a full groom I have to say he was doing a great job on the golden doodle and the other two smaller dogs already done looked fabulous and HAPPY!!! read more

I don't write reviews very often, but felt this place deserves a compliment on their business. I am fairly new to Grants Pass and have taken my dog to them a few times. They were very nice, great with my Shitzu/Pug. They groomed him and he looked so cute! They do not put the dog in a cage like some places I have gone. Some have even left them for hours while they bath and trim others. I noticed that Groom at the Top works on them as soon as they come in. My do was done in 1-11/2 hours! As a person who cares about what the dog goes through while being away from me, it was so refreshing to see a groomer who does a great job, charges a fair price, and is nice to you and your dog. This time I brought my other 2 dogs in for a nail trim and they were quick , did an excellent job, and charged very little. I have been to a lot of groomers as I have owned many dogs, and Groom at the Top is the best place by far! . read more

Our previous grooming experience was a tiny place where the dogs were kept in cages before and after their baths. Made us very uncomfortable. At Groom at the Top they not only do a great job, but they treat the dogs like friends, giving them free roam of the gated bath area. Like that they don' t put the dogs in cages. The cuts are equal to but not above other fine groomers in the area. Their fees are higher than all others in the Grants Pass area. Charged me $40 for my Lhasa Apso! And, If you don't go to them on a regular basis, they charge an extra fee! Nice couple (owners) who are from CA, and their price structuring reflects it. read more

Very friendly owners! My dogs loved going there to get their baths. I used the self wash and they helped me lift my 70 pound lab into the tub and showed me how everything worked. They checked in to make sure I was doing good and had everything I needed. I used the shampoo they provided and next time will take my conditioner for my itchy dog. They also provided ear cleaning solution and brushes. I had them clip my dogs nails and even my 10 yar old pug (who usually bites everyone when they touch his feet) let them clip his nails. I took my German Shepherd Mix Mandy for a grooming today and couldn't be happier. The owners are super nice and their customer service is excellent. I like the fact that the dogs can walk around and socialize instead of being put in cages. They gave Mandy a shorter cut for the summer heat, but didn't shave her down too much. She looked and smelled wonderful. $65 was super cheap compared to what I have paid in the past, especially since Mandy's hair is very long and thick. I also took our little Chiweenie for a nail trim and it was done without any problems for only $5. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I'm sure all three of our dogs will be regular customers from now on. read more

Just had my two cocker spaniels groomed here based on previous yelp reviews. Tim and Holly were available for a next-day appointment and very accommodating as I had a doctor's appointment and needed to drop my "girls" off earlier than the appointment and stay later. The business used natural shampoos as my dogs skin frequently dries out after grooming. Holly and I discussed how i wanted the dogs groomed and they looked just as we discussed. It was also a surprise to pick them up and see them sitting without being caged. They didn't even come to me when it was time to go. Great sign that they had a great grooming experience. Found it priced close to Los Angeles prices but competitive with other Groomers in Grants Pass. I WILL RETURN. read more

Always great, friendly staff. I use the self-wash. I love the raised tub - saves my back. It's so nice to not have to clean my bathroom after bathing my 50 lb, very hairy dog! Lol! Also, the owner always helps me lift my dog in & out of the tub. They also trim her nails for an additional small fee. In my opinion, money well spent on saving my back, having everything I need to wash & dry my dog, trimming her nails (which scares me to do myself) and not having to clean up afterward. :) :) read more

I have owned dogs most of my adult life and over the years have used several groomers. Holly and Tim are absolutely the best in the industry. We are traveling with 2 large dogs, one is a long coat German Shepherd who has bouts of anxiety in new places. I need not have worried as the owners really know how to handle dogs. As soon as the dogs entered the shop, Holly took the leads off and let them roam and explore until they felt comfortable. Wow! When I went to pick up the dogs, I found them super clean and dry, with a good nail trim and surprise...super calm. If you live in the area, or if you are traveling like us, I highly recommend this place. If you wish, you can also self wash your dog here. Prices are reasonable.
