Our family member is a 19-year-old high performing athlete who has had daily headaches and post-concussion symptoms since October. After five months of neurologists finding nothing on standard MRI, we flew to CognitiveFX for the EPIC treatment week. The fNCI scan was genuinely illuminating -- the most objective picture of what was wrong that we'd had in five months. The treatment protocols were sophisticated and specifically mapped to her scan results. Her before and after scores moved dramatically. We believe something real happened this week. But here's what didn't happen. On day one I asked explicitly: by Friday we need an honest clinical assessment of when and if she can return to sports. That was the single most important ask. Friday's end-of-week review was conducted by a nurse and a trainer. No physician was available at any point during the entire treatment week. The doctor whose name is on her scans we have still never spoken to. In fact, we were told three of the four doctors listed at the clinic do not come in, and one wasn't coming in the entire week we were there. No doctors -- at all. We had to push hard just to get a Tuesday Zoom scheduled with the physician of record-- after the week was over and we were already on a plane home. There's more. CognitiveFX ordered a cervical spine MRI on day two of treatment. The radiologist found degenerative disc disease out of proportion with vertebral wedging from chronic axial loading. Nobody mentioned this to us during the week. We found out from a chiropractor we saw on the way to the airport Friday afternoon. CognitiveFX had that report for three days and said nothing. We also requested CognitiveFX's own return-to-sport specialist, who had committed to being part of the end-of-week process in a pre-treatment meeting be included in Friday's review. He wasn't there either. No one was but a thoughtful nurse. For what this week costs, the clinical consultation piece should not require a parent to fight for it after the fact. The diagnostic tool is real. The treatment protocols are real. The therapists and trainers were professional and clearly skilled. But a medically supervised program needs physicians who are actually present and accountable. That part was not delivered. I'll update this review based on how Tuesday's follow-up call goes.

I decided to come because I could either pay the price by continuing to live my life with post-concussion syndrome or I could pay the price to come to the best place in the world for treatment and then enjoy the rest of my life. I went to my local medical center and saw their neurologist and speech and memory therapist as well as had physical therapy. I was not getting better. A friend saw me in my condition and decided to research what was out there that could help me. I had no idea that there was a place like CognitiveFX. I made the best decision and flew to Provo Utah for treatment. The therapists cared so much about me and helping me get better. The patient care coordinators are very skilled and are very fun to work with. I connected with so many of them. I heard that they were world renowned before I came here and that absolutely is true. There were patients from several different countries here as well as local people and people from within the United States. Today is my last day and I really hate to leave this wonderful place. It feels like am leaving family. I'm pretty sure that you'll feel the same way when you make the prudent decision to come here for your concussion treatment.

My husband and I have been taking the Child Parent Relationship Skills class and it's exactly what I needed and hoped for to get my relationship with my 8 yr old ASD kiddo back on track. Many of the individuals and families we work with are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, emotional regulation challenges, behavioral concerns at home or school, family conflict, and past experiences that still feel present. Communication improves, regulation becomes more accessible, and patterns start to change in a way that actually lasts. That's long enough to have seen a lot of changes in Orem. I've liked the way its move. The city is full of LDS. Many are pretty insular and close minded. They held more sway when I moved here, and Orem was trying to force their view of the World on everyone. Over the years the reality of Orem losing its status as the center of the Valley has taken hold. The Mall and big box stores in the south end of town and along University avenue are no longer the level of destination they were anymore. We will never be able to compete with Lehi. WordPerfect is gone. Novell is gone. The tech center of the valley has moved to Lehi as well. The company I work for moved to Lehi after 20 years in Orem. So, with all the negatives above, what makes Orem so good? I think that although we still have John Birchers (under new names) trying to hold the city back, The residents have done a pretty good job voting in leadership that are working on progressive policies to make sure there's enough tax base for the city. You can be sure they are all LDS and bring most of the biases that means, but they put much of that aside to provide proper services and funding for the city. They do a better job that I saw/see in other cities to provide services to the residents. People can complain about the progression from near rural and all single family residences to the current numbers of multi-unit housing, but it's just the way things work. It happened where I grew up outside Chicago. It's going to happen, it's just how well the city handles it. I think they do a good job.

A relative of mine is a current resident there and has been for several months. She is in chronic pain of her sciatic nerve and has so far basically been ignored. She has been to the nearby pain clinic one time with no plan to revisit or resolution for her pain. I have tried to speak to the Nursing Admin and always get voicemail. My calls are never returned. I have left messages for her doctor with the same result. As far as I know, there is no care plan in place for her discharge to an assisted living facility which is her desire and her goal. I live out of state so it is very hard for me to sit back and watch my relative be treated in such a manner. I am looking for another facility as I write this. Take my advice, do NOT let your family stay here. If there were a zero star rating, I would give it zero stars.

On the only visit allotted the second week of treatment my daughter expressed to the psychiatrist that her needs were not working. His response was "it had only been 2 weeks" but it was the original meds she went in with, he just didn't want to deal with it. He finally changed her antidepressant in the 3rd week but it still did nothing because she was bipolar and he never treated her for that. Drew promised that he would be right by her side to make sure she got all the treatment she needed but as soon as the money was paid Drew did nothing else. We agreed on a cash price for 30 days then when he insurance kicked in 2 weeks later Drew stated that they would bill the insurance for 2 weeks of the time she was there and refund that portion to me knowing that I couldn't afford the $15,000. When the insurance came through Drew would respond to me and Steps kept everything the insurance gave them in addition to $16,500 cash I gave them. They did nothing to help my daughters alcohol addiction or her bipolar disorder. Steps is the biggest waste of money. Do not listen to all the ridiculousness that comes out of Drew's mouthin the beginning when your at your most desperate point and just need help, once the money is paid he is done and won't respond. Waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anytime I've had a mysterious pain, Drussel has solved it. He has saved me so much money and agony…read more My daughter had a back problem, and before I saw Drussel, I had spent over $3000 in tests, drugs, and physical therapy for a back problem that he managed to solve and fix for less than $100. My daughter was having severe back pain after starting her high school golf team. He asked to see her swing and recognized right away that it wasn't really her back that was the problem, it was immobility in her hips. He gave her simple exercises, and changed her mechanics, and in less than two weeks, her pain was gone. Since then, I've had many of my own ailments solved and strenghthened (I'm a crossfitter) and many friends and relatives have been 'fixed' by Dr. Drussel. A friend's daughter started having persistent severe leg pain and went to numerous doctors. She didn't want to go to Drussel because he didn't accept her insurance. Finally, after other doctors gave up and said her daughter would have to live in constant pain, she went to Drussel. Within two weeks, her daughter was almost completely free of pain, and she has now fully recovered. I have so many friends with similar experiences; mysterious or persistent and unsolvable problems, and Dr. Drussel 'fixed' all of them. He really knows the mechanics of the human body, and I'm certain he's saved me thousands of dollars, and has probably saved me from unnecessary surgeries. I don't know where I'd be without him.
