    Steamed dim sum

We decided to try some Cantonese food in Chinatown. Excellent service and good food. We shared food family style. The bill was about £130 for three entrees, two appetizers and a beverage each.

London is known for its not so good Chinese food. Orient London was actually not too bad at all though, to my surprise! Stopped in here for some dim sum and ordered the dishes we would normally get. Some of the the dishes were made a bit different but still, pretty solid. Their portion sizes are quite small. I wish that the "spicy black fungus" could have been spicy. It was not spicy at all. Very deceiving. The peppers they put in this dish were also not spicy. Also lacked the vinegar taste that is typically used to make this dish. Another dish that I think could have been better was the century egg & pork congee porridge. The porridge itself was a bit too thick for my liking. Kind of clumpy. Did not find much century egg in it nor pork either. It was quite bland too. I asked for salt, white pepper, & hoping they had fermented bean curd but they didn't. Did not end up finishing the porridge. My favorite was the charcoal lava buns & eel. Those two dishes had good flavor & found them both to be tasty. Dim sum was all right overall. Didn't have high expectations for Chinese food in London. So I think they're just okay, nothing crazy.

I really wanted to like this place. There was a queue outside so I figured this must be a good spot. It's directly underneath the Chinatown arch as well. I waited in line for about an hour or so which is fine- that's on me and they were busy. I was seating a little awkwardly right in the center of the space which again is fine, it's small and I was by myself so whatever works. Service was fine and what I expected for where I was. You order on a sheet of paper that's numbered which was easy enough. They have a $10 minimum so I added the prawn wraps to my order to try them out. Here's why I gave a low rating. All of the food was ok at best. It was all edible but none of it had any flavor, including the sauce with the prawn wrap. I was so extremely disappointed in the dumplings- they were dry as a bone. I expect at least a little bit of soup or broth on the inside but there wasn't any. Are there different varieties of dumplings that don't have any broth? Either way. They were so dry that they were hard to eat. Absolutely no flavor in the mushroom dumpling either. Definitely a fine place to go in a pinch and they have very good prices (this all totaled about $13) but I would not go again.

Mama loves Chinese food. Late night dim sum spot found in Chinatown! Price: £4.20-5.20 for the various dim sum items, £12.80 for the beef chow fun. Tina's Tip: - £2.20 pp for tea. No pot available! - The place was super packed even when it wasn't dinner time! - The food was alright, I've had better dim sum. Pretty pricey for it too.

Cute spot in Chinatown with a lot of regulars walking in ...including two flight Attendants in inform...Food was delicious and there was an amazing Irish pub right next-door!

Went to Orient London last night. Located in Chinatown. Must say I enjoyed it very much! The staff was very friendly and super attentive. Had hot and sour soup to start and it was amazing. Finally spicy soup for once. We had the aromatic crispy duck and dammit that bird was freakin tasty! Also had the sizzling beef which was so tender ! Everything was so flavorful and comes perfectly! Have to say was very happy with the meal! So if ever in London!

i was excited to finally get dim sum in london's chinatown, but was slightly wary since the reviews for a lot of the places arent very high. decided to go to orient london because i heard good things, but slightly disappointed service was alright. the place was extremely busy and we sat upstairs, so it was hard to get attention from the waiters when we needed it. but for how busy it was, it was decent! - morning glory: did its job as a vegetable dish - steamed dim sum platter -- good for two, but sorta expensive (£12.80 for 8 dumplings), at least it was nice to try a variety of dishes without getting them individually. i liked the prawn and chive dumpling most. - chicken claws, a classic and my favorite dim sum in general -- good flavor, but couldve been meatier. i wish it was larger portion. - stuffed beancurd with prawn cheong fun -- this was the star of the show. when i bit into it, my eyes lit up. its slightly sweet, crispy and juicy at the same time! overall i think london's dim sum just isn't the best. nothing beats vancouver or actual dim sum back in asia

    Nice place!

Great food before going to a show. On the edge of Chinatown my husband and I wanted a nice place to sit down for Chinese food and be served. The food was good and service great. We'd definitely come back. Note: they have both ala cart meals and three-course selections. If you can agree, the pre-selected meals are a better deal but it's all good either way.

Traditional Cantonese dim sum done very well. The cheung fun was particularly top notch. This is certainly one of the better dim sum restaurants in London's Chinatown.

Rude servers, gross bathrooms, mediocre food. Find another restaurant. This place isn't worth your time or money.

Everything was so delicious, and there were several other dishes I would have loved to have tried. I wish I had taken pictures of more dishes, but they all looked so good that we all just dug right in! Our server highly recommended the shrimp bean curd dish, and I am so glad she did. That's not something I would've ordered on my own, but my husband & I agreed it was our favorite dish of the night. My daughter's favorite (and my 2nd favorite) was the wagyu beef puff. I also loved everything in the steamed dim sum platter. The only thing that was mildly disappointing was the softshell crab. Softshell crab is usually one of my favorites, but it was just sort of bland. But overall the food was amazing. I just wanted to keep trying more & more things, even though I was stuffed! And the service was incredible -- really could not have been better. As a wine nerd, I have to say I don't love their wine service. You can't order a full bottle, only 500 ml or less, which means you're never presented with the bottle, so (in theory) you're never really sure you're actually getting what you ordered or getting a bottle that wasn't opened days ago. That being said, I have no doubt that the wines we were served were correct and relatively freshly opened, but I still would've appreciated proper bottle service. (On the other hand, being forced to buy only 500 ml at a time meant we could try two wines instead of sticking with just one bottle.) The ambiance was lovely -- spacious, sleek, classy, modern, with gigantic aquariums. This restaurant will be at the top of my list to revisit next time I'm in London!

Really enjoyed dinner and drinks here for my girlfriend and me. Definitely recommend it.read more
