The Origen Museum at the Springs Preserve is one of our family's favorite museums to visit in Las Vegas. We easily spend several hours each time we visit the Springs Preserve inside the Origen Museum. Every few months, there is a exhibit that changes. Last time we stopped by the Origen Museum there was a cat and dog exhibit. This time, it was under construction, making way for a new exhibit! Some of the fun activities you'll experience at the Origen Museum include the following Reservoir of History, the origin of Las Vegas. Flash Flood Exhibit: Recreates a desert ravine, and shows what happens when a thunderstorm occurs in the dessert. The exhibit utilizes 5,000 gallons of recycled water through a simulated canyon. Miracle In the Mojave: My family and I see this video each time we come. It has 156 seats within the theatre. The video is narrated by Martin Sheen. As you watch the video, you'll go on a journey that shows the natural history of the region and water development. Live Animal Exhibits: The outdoor live animal exhibits include a variety of Mojave natives. Some of these include lizards, desert cottontails, a gray fox, pocket gopher, turtles, and Gila monsters. Land Auction: A recreation of a 1905 land auction where you can see some of the sculpted figures and listen to a live narration of life in the boom town. Railroad and Train: In the same exhibit as the Land Auction, you'll also see a recreated railroad car from the early 20th century. There are seated sculptures inside the railroad car that will tell stories. It's pretty fascinating and it's always great to stop by this area. The Hoover Dam Exhibit is one of my favorites. In a short video, you learn a lot about the history and construction of the Hoover Dam. It's a really good documentary and I'd highly recommend watching it if you're stopping by the Origen Museum. If you're near the Miracle In the Mojave theatre, you'll see a gift shop next to it. My daughter ended up purchasing a Owl Plush. There are other merchandise at the gift store such as apparel, jewelry, pens, decorative items, and so much more! In order to visit the Origin Museum, you'll need to purchase a ticket into the Springs Preserve. Nevada resident: $9.95 adults, $4.95 children (ages 3-17) Visitor/non-resident: $18.95 adults, $10.95 children (ages 3-17) We always have a great time at the Origen Museum inside the Springs Preserve!

I enjoyed my morning at the Spring Preserve and the Origen Museum! my favorite exhibit was The Natural Mojave Gallery and live animals. The desert that we call home has a very unique story. Learning about how mother nature constructed the mountains and the history of the topography in the area was fascinating. It is difficult to choose a least favorite exhibit. Origen details everything about Las Vegas history and learning how the city came to be was fulfilling. I'm happy I chose the Origen Museum because the Springs Preserve gives you so much more to explore. The Nevada State Museum and Butterfly habitat were a treat. The strengths of the Origen were numerous. I think the hands on approach like the night vision display, several hands on maps the traincar and the water conservation display help create an experience that helps the visitor grasp the information being shared. I did attend the attend the museum rather early in the morning, and I wish there were more employees on site to answer questions. Overall, I highly recommend visiting especially if you are not born and raised in Las Vegas.

Every room had something unique, and we found ourselves laughing, taking tons of photos, and trying to figure out all the mind-bending illusions. The staff was also friendly and even helped us take some of the best illusion pictures. Admission: Tickets are around $40-45 for adults and $33-38 for children (ages 5-12) when purchased online. Kids 4 and under are free. Hours: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM, so it's easy to fit into your schedule. Parking: We found the easiest place to park was the Aria self-parking garage, with an easy indoor walk to the museum. You can also park at the Cosmopolitan or 63 CityCenter valet, but all charge for parking. Nevada residents may receive free or discounted parking at some garages. Best Ages: I'd recommend it for ages 5 and up. Younger kids can still enjoy parts of it, but older children, teens, and adults really appreciate the illusions and interactive exhibits. Tips: * Plan to spend 45-90 minutes exploring. (Museum of Illusions Las Vegas) * Wear comfortable shoes since you'll be standing and walking through each exhibit. * Take your time--many illusions look even better through your phone camera than in person! * Let the staff help you pose for the illusion photos--they know the perfect angles. * Go earlier in the day if you want fewer crowds and more time for photos. What I liked most was that it gave us something fun to do together. Instead of just walking through and looking at displays, we were actually part of the experience. We ended up with plenty of funny pictures and great memories. If you're looking for a fun activity on the Strip with your family or a group of friends, this is definitely worth checking out. We're glad we decided to stop by.

Overall the home was amazing and I'd happily go again but I'd have to say the staff were our favorite part. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how much material they packed into this tour and given that it is almost 3 hours, you really do get a lot of bang for your buck. There is a free parking lot attached and as many will point out this is not in a great part of town so if you are visiting during the night it is best to be driven in and out versus walking in and out. They do not allow photography inside so I only have a few pictures from the beginning of the visit, but I would definitely recommend to anyone because it is a really fun experience and it is also very unique. As mentioned I don't believe in any of these things so it was even fun for a non-believer like myself. Overall, a really fun Vegas activity and I would recommend to anyone, and if you are a believer it is even more of a memorable experience I would imagine.

We have both been to Las Vegas many times, and we hadn't ever visited the Mob Museum. So we decided to visit this time. We enjoyed the experience overall and would certainly recommend it to others. When we arrived, we paid for parking and went inside to pay for the Mob Museum experience. We were prepared to walk around and read a lot of information about the mob. We were pleased to learn when we arrived that there would be a former member of the mob speaking upstairs in just a few minutes. We quickly went upstairs and found a seat. The speaker was Frank Calabrese, Jr., who worked with the FBI to bring down his crime family in Chicago. He told us his story first-hand while telling us about his book and sharing slides as he spoke. This first-hand account was a great way to kick off our visit! After the speaker, we headed up to the third floor and started looking through exhibits and worked our way floor by floor down to the first floor and eventually to the basement. On the third floor, we learned about the birth of the mob, the start of organized crime, the founding of Las Vegas, prohibition, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Al Capone, the FBI fighting back, how several mob leaders were taken down due to smaller violations, and how organized crime spread. On the second floor, we learned about the Kefauver Hearings, the historic courtroom that became the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, the Mob eyeing Las Vegas, skimming from the casinos, Las Vegas going straight, the Mob infiltrating the police, and the Mob's greatest hits. On the first floor, we learned about how the FBI took down the Mob (or some of them), various stories about mob leaders, organized crime today (yes, the mob still exists!), use of force by the police, and the mob in popular culture. We also visited the Global Networks Touch Wall, the gift shop, and the Underground (speakeasy in the basement). While we didn't pay the extra fee to use them, there are interactive exhibit options for a Crime Lab, Firearm Training Simulator, and Distillery Tasting. The general admission cost is $34.95 per person to access exhibits without a discount. For an extra $15, you get access to exhibits and one interactive exhibit. For $5 more than that, you get access to exhibits and two interactive exhibits. There are discounts available to Nevada residents, students, law enforcement and military. You can also get tickets before 11 AM or after 5 PM to receive $7 off admission plus 20% off coupons on the internet. The Mob Museum is typically open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. The Underground speakeasy and distillery is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 11 PM and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to Midnight. You should give yourself 1-3 hours to experience the museum. Definitely check out the Mob Museum at some point while you're in Las Vegas! Worth a visit!

We booked our tickets ahead online because it appeared that in the past they would sell out, but we could have easily purchased them at the door. The museum houses old working and non-working neon signs from Las Vegas past. There's everything from old cleaners signs to old casinos like the Stardust. I highly recommend that you visit at night so that you can see a lot of the boneyard lit up. They offer guided tours but we opted out. There's plenty of signage throughout the museum to give context and history to what you're looking at, although the guided tour would have been cool. We spent about an hour walking amongst the signs and I didn't want it to be over! They have a separate fenced off section with signs that will never light up, but I wish that we could have explored that section as well, since many of the signs that they had on display in the main area also didn't light up. It was so cool to see this piece of Las Vegas history.

That said, I think the marketing for this place sets expectations a little higher than the experience delivers. It really is a collection of historic signs--which is interesting--but it wasn't quite as immersive as I expected based on everything I'd seen online. The walkthrough was much shorter than we anticipated, especially considering the ticket price. We actually spent about as much on our Uber to and from the museum as we did on admission. I'm glad we experienced it once, but I personally don't think it lived up to all the hype or felt like the best value for the cost. If you're a fan of Vegas history or vintage signs, it's worth seeing at least once, but I'd go in with realistic expectations.

Granted one guy told me to just wait in the gift shop because everyone ends up there eventually. Well, yeah, after they're done which takes hours if you're into it. There's secret rooms, secret passageways, inside jokes, a treasure hunt type thing where you get your card scanned at each stop, and gift shops. The MeowWolf stuffie we bought was $30, but I don't think you'll find it anywhere else. Little fidget thing, like a Rubics Cube but more..... not cube? was $30. Even after it was solved it's fun to mess up and try again. The entry gift shop has all kinds of funny products, and some food that if you move has hidden things to see. It was fun. You can get your hand stamped to go to the food places. Prices are INSANE. No really. Trust me on this one. There is a place inside the area, but they had like three things. One is macaroni and cheese. lol. Very random. If you have kids expect them to be excited, have a fantastic time, but they'll be ready to leave long before it feels like the entry fee is worth it. There are rooms with flashing lights/seizure warnings, and a couple that made me feel a little dizzy. If you follow the loose story there's a computer to get your card stamped. Took someone in another group to catch it for us. Parking lot is large, locals park free. When we were there there wasn't even a setup to charge anyone to park, but I don't know if that changes. Just note that the earliest you can come before your scheduled time is one hour. You first start in a "grocery store" and there are secret entrances to the real experience. It feels like a mix of Stranger Things, outer space, and mad scientist lab. It was mostly exploring and touching stuff; it was a lot of sensory overload with lights everywhere. I read beforehand that it was recommended to get a boop card for $3.25 but we were told by the worker that it was "mostly reading" so we ended up not getting it. Along with that there was also a speakeasy behind the grocery store serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered the meowjito ($17) and happle juice ($17) which were the two most popular cocktails and were good. It was estimated to take about 1.5 hours to explore everything but we only spend about 30-40 minutes. I'd recommend coming earlier because once it's busy the experience ends up being mostly just walking behind people.
