Today I had a 2:30pm appointment with Dr. Lo here at the Monrovia location. At 2:25pm as I was walking from my car to the office I received a call from Dr. Lo's assistant informing me that I needed to pay the office's 'cash price' for my last three visits prior to my insurance claims being processed. Once I arrived I explained to Dr. Lo (why I had to explain this to her is beyond me) that at the beginning of the year when there is a requirement to meet your deductible, my insurance company (rightfully so) advised me to hold off making any payments until the claim was processed, and that once it was the EOB (Explanation of Benefits) would show exactly what I owed that physician when factoring in what portion of my deductible had been met, the physicians contracted rate with the carrier etc. I explained to Dr. Lo that I had checked online and that my carrier had not received any claims for 2017 from their office as of yet. I also explained that if I paid them their 'cash price' prior to the claims being processed by my carrier and then say I saw a physician two days later who billed electronically on the same day and the carrier received the other physicians claim/claims first, I would have to pay my deductible again to that physician and get a refund for overpayment from her office. This is why insurance companies recommend waiting until a claim has been processed (especially when you are seeing/there is a possibly of you seeing more than one medical provider in the phase of meeting your deductible) prior to making a payment to your physician. Once a claim has been processed, it outlines very clearly what you owe the provider in terms of your co-pay, your co-insurance and what else you owe them if anything prior to your deductible being met at the carrier's contracted rate. Dr. Melissa Lo seemed to understand all of this but didn't care. She once again wanted me to pay 'the cash price' prior to the claims being processed. I had been seeing Dr. Lo since the summer of 2016, so I was not a new patient by any means and out of 16 or so visits in 2016 (8 per quarter) there had been no issues with any claims being denied so there was no reason for her to think there would be any kind of issue. Either way when I told her I wanted to wait until I received an EOB from the carrier either verbally or via mail or online that showed both of us exactly what I owed her for each visit, she refused to treat me. Obviously, this was completely unprofessional. I told her I no longer wanted to see her as an acupuncturist, and that once I received an EOB for my three visits in 2017, I would pay her what I owed as instructed by my insurance company at the contracted rate. Dr. Lo was rude, petty, and again incredibly unprofessional in the way she handled the situation today. After driving out to Monrovia, she refused to treat me and obviously I left feeling horrible. And so I would recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for an acupuncturist. read more

Dr. Lo, I can not thank you enough. My wife wanted to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after Cesarian) but our time was running out. With VBAC, you can not induce labor. We were past our due date and still no signs of contractions. Our Dr. gave us a cut off date when we could no longer wait and would have to do a cesarian. My wife was a bit bummed but then comes Dr. Lo to the rescue. Dr. Lo said she could help with that. After 3 treatments and a few days, My wife went into labor and had a successful VBAC. We had a healthy boy weighing 8.5lbs. Thank you very much Dr. Lo. I would recommend you to anyone. You are truly gifted. read more

This is a very friendly but professional establishment. The staff is very helpful and kind. The level of care is higher than 5 stars and when you go there you feel like you have gone home. Each person that greats you, remembers your name, what business or doctors office remembers your name? I have been suffering with knee pain for over 20 years and with the acupuncture I've received from Dr. Lo the pain has minimized where my primary care doctor only wants to give pain meds. I have only been to the Monrovia office for treatment but to say the least, it is a great facility. Its very home like and always clean. I have had many Kidney related illnesses in the past as well as major menstrual cramps and even moderate acne. Dr. Lo has taught me so much about my body and the causes of these cases. The greatest benefit from seeing Dr Lo every week since September is ridding my menstrual cramps. This issue has been a major factor in my life since high school. I used to get cramps so painful, I would not move from fetal position for hours. I would have to take 400mg ibuprofen every 2-3 hours to suppress the pain and go about my day with still discomfort. Since my very first acupuncture session with Dr Lo, that has reduced significantly. It went from 400mg Ibuprofen every 2-3 hours to one a day. Now, I sometimes do not even need 1 the entire period. I also have been struggling with moderate acne since my early 20s. This has been a major issue in my life as it caused insecurities. I have been on antibiotics for 3 years prior to seeing Dr Lo which was doing great for me but I did not want to take antibiotics for the rest of my life. You can only imagine how many pills my body would have to endure with the ibuprofens and the antibiotics. (No wonder my kidneys didnt like me). So after detoxing with Dr Lo and tweeking my diet a little, we have been working on clearing my skin! My skin has gone from Large, cyst looking pimples with greenish puss to small little zits. We still have some work to do but her facials are awesome! They were a bit painful at first because I had such huge cysts but it was worth every bit of it. Pain is beauty! Overall, they are great. They treat you like family and listen to your needs. Ladies! If you have menstrual cramps, go see Dr Lo!!! Seriously, there is no need for you to suffer every month. read more

I started going to her with fertility issues and she helped me work on them with acupuncture, herbs, and diet. After 8 months of religiously going to her I was pregnant! Dr. Lo does a great job with nutritional detox, which is a unique way of testing to find out what toxins can affect your body. I am constantly trying to improve my nutrition and she has really helped out with that. She is also an acupuncturist who combines the treatments to do a whole body analysis to help with healing. I am very active and I have old martial arts injury that she has helped when it starts acting up. Dr. Lo also has therapists who do meridian therapy and cupping which has helped to improve my overall energy level. The clinic is really nice, very relaxing and everyone is really friendly. I never would have believed that acupuncture and herbs work if I didn't experience its benefits first hand. I have seen great Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors/practitioners in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada as well as San Francisco and was concerned about finding a great one here in SoCal, specifically around the Pasadena/Arcadia area. After researching Origin Natural Care and its doctors' specialties, I went in for a consultation with Dr. Lo and she did not disappoint me. I know the specific questions to ask for what I need and she definitely is not only knowledgeable but gifted to be in this profession. After a few trial and errors with clinics and TCM practitioners, you learn who you shouldn't waste your time and money seeing. I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Lo.
