At first, I thought it was a food allergy. I had taken Benadryl, but it didn't help. My husband suggested I go to urgent care, but I decided against it because I knew they would likely prescribe a steroid--which I'm allergic to--and I generally prefer to avoid pharmaceuticals when possible. Instead, I made an appointment with Dr. Wu, and I'm so glad I did. She was incredibly thorough, taking time to explain exactly how the treatment would work, where she would place the needles, and what I could expect to feel. Her gentle approach and detailed explanation really put me at ease. She has amazing bedside manner, and I could barely feel the needles as she worked on the areas affected by the rash, which had spread across my stomach, back, and neck. I am SO excited that an integrative medical clinic has finally arrived here in the 626!! There is…read moreso much to offer for our health with the benefits of both east and west medicine but so many practitioners are opposed to the other. In the past I have seen many a western doctor that doesn't understand traditional Chinese medicine so they ask me not to partake in it. But I grew up on traditional Chinese medicine and it can cure a lot of things that western medicine has said they can't. For example, I had gallstones once and usually that means surgery but I took some herbs from a licensed TCM doctor and they were gone in a week! On the flip side, TCM doesn't have the cool stuff western medicine has like lab data and fancy scans etc. It's often stressful for me to be asked to choose one or the other practice and after a long time searching I am so so happy this place has opened!!! Dr Chung is starting in February but Dr Lee has already started and she is a gem. I can tell she really cares about her patients. I needed a new doctor when my previous one went on maternity leave and I'm so glad I found her. Dr Lee has both western and Eastern medical knowledge and she is kind and compassionate. I have already seen improvement in my eczema and other issues even though it has only been three weeks. She treats the whole body big picture style- physical, mental, lifestyle, etc. Dr Lee is also very natural oriented which aligns with my philosophies, she tries to go for natural vs medicine/supplement if possible and she pushes me to make my own changes in my lifestyle so I can be healthier because she is absolutely right that a doctor can do a portion to help but the individual needs to make the necessary lifestyle changes to meet the doctor halfway for full health. Dr Lee really takes the time to answer my questions and I don't feel rushed. You can ask for spa music during acupuncture if it helps you relax and she gives a button to press to call her during the "rest" time which is reassuring since I've definitely been in situations in other clinics where I've been left in the room and I needed help but no one heard me call for help. Dr Lee will take your blood pressure every time you see her! I've also met Dr Chung and I am looking forward to seeing him as he has a calm and honest demeanor. He also of course believes in TCM so the number of tools for fixing health problems is like doubled now and more unnecessary procedures would definitely be avoided this way. The office is clean. They take insurance for both acupuncture and primary care doctor which is a big plus, their is ample free parking in the parking lot, the lobby has a zen garden which is nice to look at it and calming. The place is a little hard to find... It's the section of offices between the golf course and the Plaza with Jokers Coffee. Thank you for the help!!

Listen, I hate needles and if I can avoid it I will, but I've been to Dr. Tu a handful of times…read moredue to lifting injuries or other injuries. To be honest, acupuncture is my last line of defense and I'll do it as my last resort just because I hate needles, but the fact that I keep coming here to fix myself despite the aversion to needles is a testament to how GOOD Jenny is. If you're an athlete, come here. She will understand, as she's an athlete herself, as she was an elite powerlifter and martial artist. She, as a clinician just "gets it." which is so important as a clinician! I want to show the few times she has literally and figuratively saved my ass: My sciatica. I went on a road trip and it flared up so bad that I contemplated going to the ER. I couldn't even touch the skin around my glutes, it was so bad that I had numbness and tingling in the saddle area, injection of toradol didn't work, vicodin didn't even work. I was in bed laying on my left side for days. I couldn't walk. My entire right side and some of my left from the low back to my heel hurt, and when I got there some of the symptoms subsided in it's intensity but it was still there. I'm a physical therapist, but II couldn't even do the easist exercises I would prescribe to my patients because it hurt so bad. I couldn't even tolerate any soft tissue massage. She did her work and her magic and brought my pain down to a manageable level where I could tolerate walking, sitting and going to a massage therapist (shout out to citris body workx) who aboslutely annhilated my piriformis and then I was fixed. She was able to get deep into the piriformis and into my hamstring insertion points (it was NOT painless but she did such an amazing job) If it weren't for Jenny, I wouldn't have been able to get there. More recently, she helped me with my neck and shoulder problems that have been getting worse over the past couple months and it came to a head a month ago. Again, acupuncture really fixed a lot of muscle trigger points that was causing the pain. and after a day or two I felt so much better. I even started lifting again (lightly). I am still going to her for the same issue, but the fact that I was living with probably an 8/10 pain (dull deep aching pain) and went to a 4-5/10 is amazing. For my sciatica I went from a 10/10 (as in, almost into the ER, sometimes crying) to a 4/10 immediately and was able to tolerate massage work from somewhere else. Also, if you like dry needling (like physical therapists outside of CA and CA athletic trainers do) then she does that as well.

Dr Eric Hsi is a true master of his art…read more Alternative medicine is something that I feel is an art that may not be applicable to the mass; but for someone who sees its "beauty", it is life-changing. Sciatica has been following me around for years. Physical therapy and life style modification has kept me from invasive procedures. But when Sciatica has a really bad days; it bites down and won't let go. This is when I choose alternative medicine rather than nerve/pain medication. If I can pick a word to describe the pain relief, it will be MAGICAL cuz the acupuncture procedure actually defies what I understand as science. It acted like the medication to stop the nerve pain immediately, without the unwanted side-effect, and last longer than the medication. Whereas I am not at all looking for a cure (not even traditional/conventional medicine can offer that) for sciatica pain, I am truly appreciative that Dr Hsi can become an resource for the management of it.

His diagnosis is always on point!! The herbal medicine really does wonders. He usually checks your pulse, asks questions about your condition for more details, and checks the tongue. So being prepared with accurate information of the sickness or pain is essential to get the proper diagnosis and medicine. The diagnosis and medicine is catered to the body at that point in time. He usually gives you a list of things that I should not eat. Also, asking what I can and cannot eat is also really helpful. Sometimes, I get surprised and that's probably the reason why I don't feel well. After the body gets better, I find it good to go back to get a checkup again and get new medicine based on the updated symptoms. He will also follow up on the whether I did my homework (not eating cold stuff, for example). This ensures that the body continues to improve and strengthen itself. From my experience, the medicine treats the exact symptoms you have, and no other side effects unlike Western medicine. I haven't taken over-the-counter cold medicine in the longest time. The herbal medicine is not like the traditional medicine where you have to boil and drink really bitter tea. The herbal medicine is a powder form inside capsules that can be swallowed. The capsules are vegetarian and do not contain gelatin. The capsule can also be easily pulled apart into 2 pieces, so that I can pour and dissolve the powder into a cup of water before taking it. Perfect for someone who can't swallow pills like me!! It is also nice that they are FSA/HSA eligible. Just need to request an invoice. For the times I've gone, I barely have to wait for my visit. I usually book my appointment for the weekdays. After the seeing Dr. Hsi, the receptionist will prepare the medicine, and you will pick up the medicine and pay right then and there. Depending on how much medicine you're given like a week for flu/cold/COVID, it is a short wait about several minutes to pick up the medicine. So it is also nice and convenient that I don't need to go to a separate pharmacy to get medicine.
