Me and my husband did this for Valentine's Day and I thought it was a really sweet fun way to spend time together. Be prepared to take lots of photos. Have fun with it to selfies be silly. Be serious be sexy be whatever you want. Lucky for us it wasn't too busy. There's a few couples here and there there's a first floor and a second floor so you don't feel like you're encroaching on each other. One complaint is some of the camera holders were broken or loose, but because it wasn't too busy you were able to pull from other stations. Props were lots of fun. Some backgrounds made more sense than others but either way it's a great idea. Have fun with it! read more

This place is a joke! It Is just waste of time and money! The only thing It has is settings to take your own picture and to pretend you are a playing dress up... like preschoolers and kindergartens... nothing more nothing less. Seattle has better places to visit. read more

Soooo it only took me 10 months to write this review. I went to the Original Selfie Museum with my 94-year-old Grandmother, who is amazing and healthy and active and adventurous, last April. Earlier today, my screen saver randomly showed me a few of the photos of my Grandmother and I at this museum, so that reminded me that I hadn't written a review of this place yet. My Grandmother was visiting me from Portland, OR, and they don't have an Original Selfie Museum there. I wanted to take her to a few places around here that she would not be able to go to where she lives. This place definitely fit the bill. I remember doing a bit of research online last year, and I think at that time that there were only 3 or 4 Original Selfie Museums in the United States, and that this Original Selfie Museum is the only one on the West Coast. My Grandmother and I share a love of photos, so I thought that she might like this place. She was such a ham, and she loved it here. We took well over 30 photos at the Original Selfie Museum last April. I have posted 5 of our favorites. You need to schedule a time frame in advance that you will be arriving and staying at this museum. I believe we had one hour there. I was able to schedule our time slot only 1 - 2 hours prior to our arrival, which worked really well for me. I'm not sure if this is always possible to do, but I was very glad that I was able to do it for our visit, since my health is unpredictable and some days I am not able to get out of the house. The receptionist, on the day that we went, was really nice to us, and she asked us if we would like for her to hold our bag (GF crackers and bottled waters were in the bag, I think) while we explored the museum. I said sure. It did make it easier to strike poses without needing to worry about where to put our bag every time. I would not have asked her to hold the bag for us, and it was nice of her to offer to do that. The hour flew by for us. There are 2 separate floors in this Museum, and lots of backdrops. I saw a few backdrops that I hadn't seen before in any of the photos of this place, and I saw several backdrops that I had already seen in photos. I think they may rotate some of the backdrops but keep others there. For the photo of my Grandma in the bath tub, she climbed over the very short barrier keeping the plastic balls in on the floor for this backdrop, charged through those plastic balls, and got in the tub before I even knew what was happening, then she struck a pose like she was in Vogue. My Grandma is amazing!! I love all of the pictures of her that we took that day, but I think this one might be my favorite. She also chose to take a photo next to the fake guitar, since she played guitar in a band for many years when she was in her 60s and 70s. I'm so glad that my Grandma had a good time here. We are close, and I really wanted to do things that she would enjoy during her visit. She chose to take the concrete stairs from the first floor of the Museum up to the second floor. I had asked her in advance if she was okay with stairs, and she said that she was. She doesn't have Instagram to share these photos there, but she does have Facebook! She was delighted with the photos, and we made some great memories here. I'm very happy with our experience. I specifically went here for and with her, since we both love photos so much. So, I'm not sure if I would return, but I probably wouldn't be opposed to going again if someone else really wanted to go here with me. This is not somewhere that I personally would return to frequently, even if some of the photo backdrops do change periodically, but I thought it was well worth going for this one time. read more

Super fun place!! Camera stands with lighting is provided and it's easy to use. I only used a few of the sets upstairs but dang it, I had fun! The sets are legit and easy to pose in. Under Pikes Place and past the gum wall. At first it feels silly doing so many selfies, but go with it. It's fun! Feels good to smile and enjoy. Wanted to check this place out, but accidentally walked up the stairs (I was confused, looking for information) and the front desk lady who was working today aggressively knocked at the window and yelled something. I said sorry and asked if I had to go through there instead, but she had already popped her headphones in her ear and hid behind the window. "I can't control myselfie " is the first sign you'll find in this place. Say cheese!!!! Masks are not required anymore (COVID times now everything is changing, at least when this review was done in April 2022) The selfie museum is in Seattle, we parked at the Pike's parking to have breakfast/lunch there and then walked to the museum. It's not quite easy to find (close to some random stairs) BUT they have placed a big sign so we didn't wondered too much. We paid like $36 maybe too pricey for me. I'd say that $25 or $30 would feel like a better rate. But hey!! If you have a SPECIAL occasion like: birthday, wedding/ engagement, prom day, pregnancy announcement, maybe in those occasions people could be willing to pay almost $40!!!!! Having said that, they do have very original, fun, interactive installations. Just 2 floors, but it's e ouch to have lots of good pictures. They also have ring flashes and tripods everywhere. Oh! And they lend us a selfie stick that can be synchronized with your very own phone too. My favorite installation was the swing with bananas, the bed against the wall, and the donuts. read more

We had a lot of fun going through the two levels of the selfie museum. Honestly, it probably isn't something I would do again, but it's definitely cool if it's your first time around. You have to purchase your tickets online and select the date/time you want to go. We decided to shoot the announcement of our little one at the Seattle Selfie Museum; I knew there were several installations that would perfectly yield us a reel. The customer service, and cleanliness of the museum is SUPERB!! Ms. Irina was extremely kind, she also ensured all props were sanitized per use. Like many of the businesses in the area the museum is limiting capacity to ensure safety, but also allows for each guest(s) to take their time and have FUN taking selfie's! If you're planning a visit on the weekend I recommend calling ahead to either make a reservation or identify how long your wait will be to enter the museum as a walk-in. I really enjoyed the variety of installations and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Post Alley for the first time. If you're seeking fun activities to do with your teenagers definitely take them to selfie museum; they'll get lose track of time being so creative with poses. read more

The selfie museum isn't huge and the admission is a bit pricey, but this location is quite unique and an amazing opportunity to get lots of great photos for social media. So with that in mind, this becomes an almost mandatory visit for anyone looking to get some fun photos on their trip to Seattle. The displays are well laid out with a logical design to make it easy to use and social distance between different photographers. The lighting is well dispersed and calibrated well to bring out the best colors and avoid shadows at each station. We did a girl's day out at the Selfie Museum this weekend. We are in our 30s and 40s and still enjoyed the shenanigans. The Location: it was super easy to find and is located on 2 floors. I was a little shocked at how small both areas were. I'm not sure what I was expecting so it threw me a little off. (Haha) the first floor had about 8 areas for photos and the upstairs had 12 areas. The location I give 4 stars Customer Service: The lady downstairs (a younger lady with long blondish hair) was super friendly and nice. The lady upstairs (an older lady with short hair) was very short. I give Customer service 4 ¾ Stars Guests: Everyone that was visiting was very kind and respectful of the time they spent at each location and respected us while we were taking our pictures at each location. No one was rude, or rushing anyone. They provide ring lights so you can set up timers on your phone to take a selfie or group pictures. Overall: the experience was a lot of fun and the 3 of us roughly spent about 1-1 1/2 hours there and took about 900 pictures. The only thing I wish I did was research poses in advance or it would have been cool for the place to post examples or suggested poses. Overall I give the whole experience 5 stars. read more

Had so much fun here with my two friends. I was worried that parking would be hard to get - nope - found parking right outside ! FUN EXPERIENCE! LOCATION: This new interactive museum is in Post Alley right after you pass the famous Gum Wall. STRUCTURE: Two stories of different backdrops for your selfies - I want to say it's about 10 on the first floor and 15 upstairs. There is a set of stairs outside that connect the floors (you will see chess pieces on the steps). EXPERIENCE: The ones I enjoyed the most were the ones you could interact with OR there are a pit of balls. In no specific order: sushi and large chopsticks, banana room with swing, bathtub with "bubbles," punching bag, pink backdrop with balls and telephone, and of course the orb/mirror room that looks Yayoi Kusama-inspired. SERVICE: As this is a museum, it's a choose-your-own-adventure in terms of how you want to approach it depending on the crowd there. The employees there are super friendly and will offer to take your picture. For the above-referenced orb/mirror room, given its popularity you'll likely have to queue. DISCLAIMER: Finally, as a disclaimer, I came here through a Yelp Elite event on their soft opening day so my experience is going to be different from yours. There were two floors of places you can take photos at, and although relatively small we still spent a solid hour there. They provide ring lights to truly live out that influencer life, and not going to lie, they did make the photos turn out better. I felt that I was in too much awe at the scenes because I didn't see them before and took way too much time deciding what I wanted to do. Order tickets online. Located just past the gum wall under the Post Ally sign. You're on your own for parking. There are no close spots, just garages and street. There are about 25 different scenes split between two floors. Walk in, check in at desk and shoot away! You can have your bags and jackets checked in and kept for you behind the front desk or the desk upstairs. You don't have a time limit but plan on 1-3 hours here, especially with friends. You don't need to do things in order. If someone else is there, skip it and come back later. Super cool set ups and they even have light rings set up for you for extra lighting. I totally recommend a good camera and a tripod. There are just some things that phones don't do justice. I would totally come again if they change up scenes! read more

I've been to soooo many pop up museums in LA (pre-covid) and when I saw that Seattle had a insta-museum, I just had to check it out. The museum itself isn't too big (only 2 levels), but they offer about 20 different photo opportunities. Just be aware...most of the photo ops are extremely close together, so have your crop tool handy. The workers were cleaning after groups the entire time we were there and there was hand sanitizer throughout! Now for the downside...the lighting on the first floor for many of the backdrops was atrocious. Sooo many shadows from the light placement. And we kept moving the ring lights as they were not doing any justice. Usually the insta-museums I've been to, the lighting is incredible and you don't need to do much to your pics. This place, however, I ended up having to make edits for the contrast. Overall, this is a fun place to kill an hour, but for the price and location, you only need to go to this place once. read more

They provide selfie sticks, but I suggest you bring your own & a tripod. So many great photo ops. The two hostesses were gracious enough to let me in because I waited an half hour + prior to opening. Travel tip, make reservations & 1 hour is not enough, so reserve multiple days or multiple hours. Also, please mind your kids. This is a great stop for visitors to Seattle. Admission is a bit pricey, but it's worth it just for the laughs. This is an interactive museum with several rooms full of backdrops and props for selfies (what else?). Although it seems small, there are actually quite a lot of different "sets", and it takes time to get through, because of course you have to get the perfect shot in each one! The museum is well-located, right near Pike Place Market and the gum wall. Pro Tip: Make sure you have LOTS of room on your phone. Due to covid they only allow a few in at a time, which I appreciate. Plus you dont feel rushed using each set. I brought a change of clothes for different looks and I was able to change somewhat privately. They do have bathrooms as well. So many fun options. If they ever change the sets I'll be back too. Had a blast here doing a fun photoshoot/enjoying it outing with a friend! All the rooms and areas are so creative. My favorite is the room with all the reflections upstairs! I loved all the little details in the museum and even the chess pieces lined up outside the museum too - a place to snap pics in itself! There's definitely something for everyone: large chopsticks, roses, vanity area, a bed, a bathtub...the list goes on and on. I really liked how they had lights places all over so it can light your shot just perfectly like a real photo studio. The admission price is a little pricey but I think it's so worth it. I'm a ballerina so the staff was loving the bendy poses I was doing and so encouraging! They even helped me and my friend take photos for us! I would definitely say this museum is for taking pictures so don't come here if you're not into taking pictures LoL. Not so much selfies but I would say fun trippy illusion/creative portraits! Very similar to the ice cream museum in SF but smaller. We booked our tickets online for friday at 11am, there were only 3 other groups, so we had a lot of space and time for pictures. Stayed there almost 2 hours! I think there was about 10 backdrops or so or at least we thought there were. I love going to these types of attractions. You have to reserve your time slot ahead of time online. Once you check in they allow you one hour for photos. There's two levels for different backdrops. Masks were worn by the 2 staff and a couple dispensers of hand sanitizer. The only off putting things to me were that you don't see staff going around sanitizing as people finish through each backdrop. Besides my group there were two other couples that came and left but no sanitizing done on any of the props that are held by customers. Another thing that seemed off was when we were leaving a family was trying to enter but they locked the front door. The man was telling the family that they aren't allowing others to come in for the day and to try again tomorrow. The family stated that they had a reservation and paid online. Two floors filled with colorful backdrops for photos! This would make for a really fun date. My wife and I spent around 1.5 hours going around to all the different booths. Our favorite was the mirror room which has a bunch of colorful light up balls and mirrors. There was about a 15 minute wait to just get into the room so it might make sense to create a 2nd one on the bottom floor. We were invited by Yelp Elite and got free tickets to the event. I think they are charging around $30 per person which seems high. But if you are really into taking photos or a unique date idea when it is raining outside I think it could be worth it. Don't park on 1st ave because you have to walk down a huge staircase. Instead try to find parking right on union street by post alley. We went at night time during the winter and there were 3 or 4 parking spots open on the street right next to the Museum. They also had an open bar when we were taking photos during the yelp elite event which was awesome! read more

Easy to find- right at the end of post alley by the gum wall below pike place market. We don't have anything like this where I'm from. Cool concept, great staff and we had a ton of fun. Husband skeptical at first (could be lame) but he ended up with cooler ideas than me and we had a blast. Glad I bought tickets online days ahead of time because when I checked the day of, it was mostly sold out. Suggestion: bring a third wheel to take pictures of you and your significant other in exchange for great pics of said third wheel. Or you can ask the staff who are happy to help. Also, before you go- have ideas of what you'd like to do photo wise which cuts down on time and phone battery life. We spent probably about 30 mins total to take pics of the whole place, and even though it was packed, we still didn't have to wait to take pics in an area for long. Overall we loved it, got about 40 awesome pics (down from like 100-150). Wish we lived closer, I'd come back with the kids or a group of people. My only complaint was the lighting was very "cool" so I definitely manipulated the colors of mine but in the end was very happy with my experience. The culture is really cool, other museum goers were very courteous, not walking through your photos, jump up, get your photo and move along or come back later. Lets keep this kind of culture here. And the staff didn't look at me crazy when I kept changing shirts and what not so just depends on how serious you want to take it. I was so excited for this place to open. It ended up being much smaller than I thought. They have 2 floors; first floor was smaller than the second. The backdrops are actually right next to each other, so when taking photos you gotta make sure that the frame doesn't include the backdrops of the others. It's a really fun place to take silly pictures at. I didn't spend more than an hour there. Anything over that is a little bit excessive. Now that I've gone there I don't think I would come back again. It's kind of expensive just for a place to take pictures at IMO, but still a fun experience nonetheless. I liked how they had selfie ring lights on the floor so we can make sure to get that perfect lighting. But it would've been useful if they also had the phone holders attached so we wouldn't go through the hassle of asking other people for photos. Seattle selfie museum has two floors full of many instagrammable areas. There's at least 6-7 spots per floor and there's an assortment of colors and backdrops to choose from. The workers are also super nice and willing to help take photos when asked. On the website it says one might spend thirty minutes or a hour with family, but I feel like you can definitely stay here for a hour and half easily. To cut to the chase, the overall consensus is that this is a fun time activity to do at least once. To break it down, it's a bit spendy per person, but if you really want some photos, it's less than a portrait package at any mall photo shop, and you can keep taking a photo until you get the one you want. The space is not huge. It's split up in two stories, and the back drops are all fit side by side with approximately a dozen on each floor. They have tripods/selfie lights at almost each backdrop, but you are allowed to bring your own selfie sticks and tripods. It's possible that at some time they may change/update the backdrops/props, but until they do, I couldn't see paying the admittance to keep going back for practically the same photos. Even though they call themselves a museum, they do not participate in the Seattle first Thursdays or free days. They don't offer a discounted rate for timeslots that they haven't booked for the day, so same entry price if you reserve online or walk up. Their location is down the alley from the gum wall. If you have someone in your group who is physically challenged, you might want to scope out the best route for your group. Some navigation gets screwed up and will take you to the front entry of Pike Place Market on the upper street level of Pike, and the Selfie Museum address is on Union. Because it's actually on the alley, the primo spot is down on Western and Union where there is some street parking right by the entrance. If you are on the upper level, it's a little easier to get there by going through the market entrance of 1st Avenue where Eighth Generation and Pasta Casalinga are located because there is an elevator in that area that goes down to the alley level where you can then walk down the alley not to far to the entrance of the museum. I don't believe the museum had an elevator to their second floor. There is a flight of stairs to navigate. You don't really get instruction, so if you're not already a selfie guru, you might want to prepare on the basics of taking selfies and using tripods and selfie lights with your phone. It's a fun time if you like taking photos, and if you're with the right person or group. read more
