Was visiting a friend in Seattle and we wanted to do an escape room. Puzzle Break had the strongest reviews both on Yelp and Google! We knew we had to try We decided to do the hardest room at Puzzle Break - Escape from Seattle, The World's Fair Affair We had a group of 6 with varying levels of experience with escape rooms (it was one of our friends first room while two of us have done more than 50 rooms) and the room felt perfect for the size! There were a lot of moving parts and lots to do in to this room so nobody was really standing around. We thought the room had a great balance between technology and analog. Puzzles were logical and hard in ways, but solvable and doable! We all had a really great time and got out with 16 minutes to spare! Communication/organization is key for this room Mason our game master was great and helpful! There was also a giant lounge to wait in for our game to start with tons of couches, games, puzzles, and water. A great escape room at a great venue! Finished Escape the Mystic Manor Red and was able to get in the board for top times in the past 30 days which was exciting! Big props to the Puzzle Break team for allowing us to keep our time as they encountered a same day issue where one of their rooms was damaged. They handled it very professionally and we were still able to keep our time slot so we're thankful to the team. We had 8 people and surprisingly, most of us had something to do the whole time. Everyone had a part to play but some parts we partnered up to accomplish faster. Easily a room you can do with 4-8 people with moderate difficulty, with the more people making it easier. Puzzles were fun, a few challenging ones, but overall pretty linear progression without weird redundancies that can happen with some other escape rooms. This room is great to bring friends who are new to escape rooms as there are still a few surprises (not in the scary sense). Thanks to Puzzle Break for a great time! I didn't book the room so I didn't get the name of the person my friend spoke to but during our experience Neo did the introduction prior to the game and guided us on time when we asked (we only asked for one hint so there was minimal interaction on that part). We were in Seattle for Vacation/Work meetings and had some time to kill in between check out of one hotel and check the next hotel so we figured we'd kill some time and do an escape room. I'm so glad I found this place. The host was awesome, our guide was awesome. We did the Mystic Manor Red and it was a lot of fun figuring it out. I'll tell ya, we got to the last puzzle and had my son not put 2 and 2 together before we fully solved it, we would have ran out of time. We finished with 7 second left!!!! such a blast and we definitely got a full hours worth out of it. As a note, neighborhood around it can be a little sketchy with the homeless. Was visiting from out of town. Puzzle Break was pretty close to our hotel, so we had to try them out! My wife and I did the Mystic Manor room. It was $120 for the two of us, which is pretty darn high. I expected a very premium experience for that price. The room was good and fun. Little on the spooky side but not jump scares or actors. Pretty simple to navigate. If you had a bigger group, you could actually go head to head racing to escape the room against another team. Room was fun and 3/5 difficulty. Just really don't think it's a $60 per person type of room. $40 maybe read more

Four of us did "Escape the Mystic Manor" and had a blast! Booking the room online was super easy. Upon check in we were met by a friendly host and we were able to complete the required waivers. They have a lounge area where you can sit and wait for your room to be ready which is nice if you arrive a little early. They also have restrooms available. Once it was time for us to start, we entered our room and got a quick run down before beginning. The vibe of the room was great, definitely spooky but not scary. I won't spoil anything but it was a good one! We were able to escape with just 20 seconds left. Shout out to Hugo for helping us with a few hints when we needed them! An absolute blast, I cannot recommend enough! There are plenty of great suggestions on which escape room theme you most want to explore, ranging from family friendly to more spooky fare. Ultimately our group chose the Indiana Jones-esque adventure and all came out ranting and raving about how much fun we all had! While we made it out with time to spare, that shouldn't suggest it was easy by any means. You just have to be confident, communicative, and creative! Most importantly, just have fun. We did the Escape from Seattle - the World's Fair Affair. We finished with 13min to spare. It doesn't have as many puzzles as other escape rooms that we've done, and the puzzles weren't quite as hard (we did get stumped on a few though!), but I'm giving 5 stars for the clever idea and story line that runs through it as well as how some of the puzzles were put together tech-wise. Staff was super helpful - shout out to Sonny for the hints - and I feel terrible, but the guy to introduced the room was amazing as well!!! Thanks for a great time!!! Just fair warning, this place is downtown, and if you're here after dark, just be mindful that it's downtown. I probably wouldn't bring younger kids here after dark. read more

I did want to mention that the person at the front desk was not happy with our group and clearly not pleased to have us there. She said so, and had we not already paid, we probably would have left for the bar. We're an older group of people, many first-timers, and not accustomed to the rules of check-in. I was gifted a puzzle break escape room for Christmas. It was really easy to use the redemption code online and pick our escape room. I wish they had the wizard magical themed one like they do in other cities but we ended up picking the puppet workshop. it definitely is a little creepy and the staff mentioned that they're making it even creepier so if you like that kind of thing, then this one is for you! It was creepy at times, and when the game master talked over the speaker I definitely freaked out Joanna and Eric were helpful in both explaining how it works in the beginning and supporting us along the way. We barely finished in time! They have a list of top finishing teams, however, it was just the two of us, and it would've been cool to see how many people were in each of these teams for comparison. The spot is in between a couple of bars in Belltown, so we almost missed the entrance because it somewhat blends in, but you have to press the buzzer which will take you to the location up some stairs. It was fun! We've done a variety of escape rooms before and we would recommend it to anyone looking to do one for fun. I hope they install the wizard one at some point for me read more

I would consider myself an escape room enthusiast, and honestly our whole experience was ruined by our interaction with, I think their name was Mo, bleached blonde short hair with glasses, at the end of our game. It started out great. We did the Escape from Hidden Temple room, and the first employee, Joanna, was super great and gave us the boost in energy to get pumped before going in. The room was pretty fun with an appropriate level of challenge for beginners. Midway through, there was a piece of a puzzle that we put our hands on (as you are supposed to) because there was a clue towards the bottom and it popped off the wall a bit. We weren't using excessive force, only using the "one finger of force" rule Joanna briefed us on at the start. I hope they check the cameras to corroborate this. We were able to place it back to the way we found it and solved the puzzle. The rest of the room went off without a hitch. When we finished the room, I was expecting the usual celebratory vibes I've gotten at the 50+ previous escape rooms I've done. Instead we were coldly accused by Mo of intentionally twisting and breaking the puzzle off the wall. We sincerely apologized, but after receiving no response and awkwardness, we thought about it some more and told her that we really didn't use any force when it came off, but were still really sorry. They continued to ignore us until they fixed the puzzle we allegedly broke. They continued with us in a cold montone voice, asking if we wanted a picture, but it was clear they were already done with us and checked out. They hurried us out of the room and basically kicked us out. There was no debrief, no "what was your favorite part of the room?" or "What were your favorite puzzles?" Instead we awkwardly sat in the small entry lobby with Mo on the computer ignoring us, while we waited for the last of our party to finish using the restroom. I'm truly not asking for a lot, and I'm not trying to be a "Karen." Just from a customer service perspective, accusations should not be given unless there is definite confirmation that the customer has broken a rule, and escalations/confrontations with guests should be an extreme last resort. We were respectful; we were sincere; but our spirits were broken at the end because of our last interaction with an employee who seemed like she didn't want to be there. read more

The room was so cool and interactive and even though it was VERY challenging they give you hints so you're not completely in the dark, and we were able to escape! My Experience Level: 45+ escape rooms. Because of this, I didn't leave as impressed as I have been from other escape room companies, but this is still a solid place worth checking out! Room: Originally booked Escape from Seattle. After we completed it, we asked if they could apply the return customer discount for same day bookings. They said yes, so we then proceeded to book all 3 rooms back to back for that same night. We did have to book one at a time and it was subject to availability as we finished each room. This is how I'd rank the rooms: - Escape from Seattle: Enjoyed the theming - Puppeteer's Workshop: One of the puzzle solutions was super unique - Eventide Departure: not applicable for our group, but it's cool that if you have a bigger group, you can split into 2 identical rooms (Blue and Red) to complete against each other - Escape the Lost Temple: Found some puzzles tedious Price: $146 for original booking. $99.11 for discounted return customer rate. Group Size: 3, all of us are experienced escape room players so felt like right group size for us Theming: Overall well done. Escape from Seattle had a decor aspect I really liked. Escape from Lost Temple was least impressive to me, but still better than some other companies Puzzles: Good variety across the rooms. Nothing felt repeated. Hint System: I believe it was wave at the camera and ask Outcome: We escaped them all! Last weekend we chose this escape room activity because it is advertised as "family friendly", "ages 8 and up" in obvious letting on their website- from which we booked (photo attached). With our visiting-from-out-of-town family, we drove an hour, and paid extra for parking, to go have "family friendly fun!" at the Puzzle Break Escape Room/ Seattle. As soon as we walked in, it was obvious the front desk gal was in a negative mood. She sighed and glowered at our group and asked ages: 8, 9, 11, 14, 46, 48 and 77 years old. (Note: Family, ages 8+). Yep, we even brought Grandma! Sadly, according to Negative Nelly front desk gal,, "Family friendly, ages 8+" means that each person under age 18 needs a one-on-one 18+ adult accompanying them in the room the entire time. Huh? Then why is it advertised as (say it with me!) "family friendly", "ages 8 and up"? I showed her the company's own online ad, (from which we booked the $308.49 escape room hour) and she replied, essentially, *yeah we have a bad website, run by people in Hungary," which was said with a undercurrent of, *sucks to be you.* We asked, how can we make this work, we don't have another adult, could we pay for one of the working adults to stand in the room and be an extra body? Reply of a condescending snort/laugh, and, "absolutely not", with an undercurrent of *you wish. And again, sucks to be you* Welp. We were asked to leave without playing the game, and being told they'd "try to refund our money due to age policy." (Yes the money was refunded after 3 days.) I asked for a call from the manager (who was not on duty at the time to speak with) to discuss the totally ridiculous policy for a place that advertises the way they do. Didn't get one. We did get an email saying we would be refunded. The whole experience wouldn't have been quite so off putting (a 1 star review! My first!) if Nelly had been apologetic or sympathetic, but the whole tone and vibe was of someone who was high on the power of crushing dreams and being the bearer of bad news. We ended up having a very fun day doing other things for much less than $308.49, though. (So, there ). read more

We did the Puppeteer's Workshop and it was the perfect challenge for us. This was our second time at Puzzle Break and this is probably our favorite room so far. Previously, we did Escape the Mystic Manor. I highly recommend both rooms. Joanna and Jack are the best! Joanna was our game master, who made our experience pleasant and fun. Jack did a great job explaining all of the rules and even mentioned how Puppeteer's Workshop was one of the oldest escape rooms! Parking is extremely hard in this area. There is paid parking, but it's pretty expensive. I suggest trying to find metered parking around here. read more

We had a group of 20 to celebrate a friend's big birthday. Unfortunately the humorless blond woman doing the intake was snippy with us from the start. As we were walking from the lounge to the escape room, she overheard someone in our group whispering to a friend that she was rude. Well, she took it upon herself to confront the group and ask if we wanted to leave! Then she said she overheard us, and instead of taking the observation to heart, she became even more rude and confrontational. If she cannot provide good customer service to a large group of paying customers she should find a different line of work. read more

We had the room to ourselves for a part of 3 which was nice. We ended up solving it with more than half an hour to spare in part the person who had setup the room hadn't reset one of the more elaborate puzzles. Incidentally, I think there had been more problems with the reset because some of the locks seemed to be on the wrong items (as in a hint indicates the lock on X should be A and the lock on Y should be B, but it was the other way around). In terms of location, we had to steer clear of a gentleman who was urinating on the sidewalk out front. Given the smell, I don't think that was an isolated occurrence. I didn't feel threatened or unsafe, but I won't be bringing my children here. Our support team was Holly and Mindy, I believe. read more

We were asking the gamemaster for clues and they just pointed out things that were in the room, like we have eyes. Also with all those useless clues, one thing that could actually helped us he never pointed out. My 8 year old and I did Escape From the Tomb for Mother's Day, and couldn't have had a better experience! There were enough puzzles for us both to feel challenged and it was set up perfectly for teamwork. Our check-in, game prep, and gameplay experience was exceptional--the gamemaster let us struggle productively be, and when we did take hints they were very light. Loved the Eventide Departure room! The props were super interesting and not at all just combination locks. I don't want to reveal any solutions to the puzzles, but some were so creative that I have never seen anything similar despite having done ~20 escape rooms in different cities. The puzzles were sufficiently hard that we had to ask for a few hints and got out with 7 SECONDS left. A lot of teamwork was required, and there was a sufficient number of puzzles to work on at the same time that all 5 of us always had something to do. The decorations were also very intricate and create an awesome atmosphere. The staff didn't intervene until we asked for hints. But since they were following our actions on camera, we did not have to explain where we were or what we were looking for at all, and got the exact hints we needed at that moment! They charge a set price per room, so it can be a little steep if your group has less participants. But I'd say it's totally worth it for this level of sophistication, organization and challenge.
