Just want to start off by saying that I eat here weekly, and have for months. On this particular day I ordered my standard burrito I always order. Unfortunately they put lettuce and tomatoes on it, and I am allergic to tomato's. I called back and just explained the situation, I didn't want to blame anyone just simply stating perhaps I misspoke or it didn't get written down. I was informed several times there's nothing anyone can do, and I'd have to call back tomorrow. I said I am not trying to file a complaint or even get a refund, I'd really just like to pick up a new burrito. She reluctantly agreed. When I arrived, she decided to reprimand me further about my etiquette and how long it took me. The remade burrito itself was 1/3rd the normal size, poorly made with nothing inside. If they make something this simple turn into this big of an ordeal, and then deliberately give me a poorly made burrito, almost 4 inches shorter than the standard I paid for out of spite, what else did they do to it? For obvious reasons, It went right into the trash. I would like to point out as well, after tipping 20%, this burrito was just short of $17. Whether you live here in town, or are just passing through, I would definitely spend your money elsewhere. read more

Never again. Went here for pickup based off reviews and I want to personally ask these people if they've ever had real Mexican food? Starting off you have to pay for chips? There's your first sign. I ordered chips and queso on their menu. They gave me the queso and no chips then we had to ask for the chips which was a problem because they charge for them. I knew that and thought I paid for them. So she gives us half a bag of the most stale thin layered and terribly over salted chips. I pulled out a bag of Tostitos at home and those were better. Then to the basic tacos I ordered, both chicken and beef. I got boiled plain chicken with no seasoning... the beef tasted somewhat burnt with maybe a little seasoning. That's enough said. Very good Mexican food. We're new to the area, camping at a beautiful state park on the edge of town, 5 minutes away. This has quickly become our go-to lunch or dinner place. Very friendly folks running it and they offer a diverse menu and it's very good! Generous portions and good prices. Definitely recommend it. read more

I'm so glad this place exists. I like to think of myself as a burrito connoisseur. I grew up in Chicagoland and I used to go to El Farols in Summit, El Famous Burritto, El Burrito Loco, and the burrito joints in the city on the southside. I moved to the Quad Cities and tried all the mexican joints there but, nowhere can you find a giant burrito like I'm used to. So a drive to Morrison, and you got your burrito fix. This place is legit. Get the large burrito (I like steak). The meat is not mystery meat or gristly, or even that greasy. It seems to be made fresh and the roll is good so you can pick it up and eat it without it falling apart. It's your basic bean, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, and meat rolled up in a big tortilla. You won't find rice in your burrito, nor should you! The red and green sauce are both very good as well as the made to order guac. Prices are very reasonable here. Just an all around good mexican establishment for a small town. read more

I'm a transplant to Morrison, IL so I have a very distinct appreciation for this place! Quite frankly it's the best Mexican place around. They have authentic Mexican tacos (upon request)! The hard shell beef tacos are THE BEST around. The atmosphere is a bit lacking, but the food is definitely worth the stop. Stumbled on to Original Tacos while traveling through the area. Considering it is in a small town, it was surprisingly good! It is an unassuming restaurant, but cozy and comfortable. Good selection, from tacos to tortas, to burritos and enchiladas to fajitas. My husband and I both had the three taco dinner. Very tasty, and authentic---definitely not like fast food tacos. We were able to mix and match the tacos, so we tried hard and soft shell, and tried chicken, beef and pork. The pork was my favorite, as it was cooked a little crispy--a nice touch. The Mexican rice was also very good--appropriately spiced and done just right--not gummy or overly soft. The chips and salsa are not complimentary, but we're glad we ordered them. They are made fresh from flour tortillas, so they are warm and crispy. The salsa has a great heat, with plenty of onion and cilantro. It was a little thin, but still very good--just lean over your plate so you don't waste a drop! Nice server, very attentive. We left full and satisfied. read more

Excellent Mexican food, especially in a small town of 4200. I think they have some of the best guacamole around, and I love their wet burritos. As was noted by a previous reviewer, the atmosphere is a bit lacking, but the food readily makes up for it. I hope they stay around for a long time as it is one of my family's favorite restaurants! read more

This is my second visit. The burrito was great although I think she forgot the chorizo in my " steak and chorizo" burrito. My wife had the taco dinner. She's a picky Mexican food eater so it's a testament that she ate it all. Morrison is on our way to our river house so we are sure to return to Original. read more
