My husband and I stopped in for lunch. The staff met us at the door. We were seated quickly and they took our drink orders. Chips, salsa were served immediately. We ordered the molcajeti for two. The food came quickly and was piping hot. The waitstaff was attentive and provided refills for our drinks. The molcajeti came with shrimp, chicken, steak, chorizo, peppers and onions. It came with sides of beans, rice, salad, guacamole, and pico. The food was plentiful, fresh and had excellent flavor. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean, neat and orderly. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I gave them another chance tonight and came out extremely disappointed again. I ordered carne asada tacos and barely ate 2 of the 3. They were dry as cardboard, not much flavor and contained quite a bit of gristle. I complained to the server and he didn't seem to care either way. Prior to this visit, I had ordered the carnitas there. Most of what I got were big chunks of pork fat. I had pointed it out that time as well with the same results. The servers pretend they don't understand you when there is a problem. I'd go elsewhere. read more

Let's start by saying I've never been treated so wrong and I never thought that I'll be saying this especially in 2023. The moment we walked in the restaurant it was extremely packed, which was understandable because it was cinco deMayo. We stood there for almost 30 mins to be seated and when we were finally able to get a table it was dirty. As we waited to get menus, chips and salsa for the table we sit there and watch our phones out of boredom. Finally we did get menus and before the waiter walked away we ordered our food because we knew exactly what we wanted. We also order drinks some of our drinks came in glass cups and the other ones came in plastic cups. We ordered the special margaritas. with no salt on the rims only sugar. Only one came out correctly and the other ones were in plastic cups with no salt or sugar. I don't understand how and why but whatever. So as the waiter brings our drinks he's moving so fast that he dropped the garnish of the rim of a drink which hit the table and he just walks away like nothing happened smh. At the point we had to say something to someone. We asked to speak to a manager, which we were told that he couldn't speak English so the waitress had to translate to him what we were saying . I find that hard to believe because how could you own and operate a restaurant in America but can't speak English. So she tells us that she will write down our complaint and tell the owner. We told her that the Hispanic waiter was rude and had a attitude towards us because he dropped a orange slice off the rim of the glass and she says "There's no way he's our best waiter ". At the moment I knew I just had to get up and leave. After eating two baskets of chips and salsa our food never came out. So I got up and walked out. I hate the staff, I hate the people, I hate the employees, bosses and people at the business. The place needs to close down immediately!!!!!! Found a roach in the booth. Chips were stale and salsa was bland. Couldn't understand the waiter at all. Very dismal inside.

We just moved here from Arizona and have to say, disappointed. Got combination meals and the only things tasty were the rice and beans. Ground beef enchiladas are not authentic and had no seasoning. Highly doubt we will be back. read more

Mislead on price for my food and when questioned about it they said they were waiting on new menus. Come to find out they have been waiting for a very long time! I felt cheated and lied to! Food was ok...nothing special! Looks like we are paying for the new addition to their business. read more

We have been to this restaurant at least a dozen times. Last visit was on 7/15/25. Never again. I ordered a Vegetarian taco salad listed on the menu for $7.50. I was charged $9.40. Hubby ordered a Chicken Fajita Burrito Grande for $10.00. He was charged $13.85. When we complained, the waitress pointed to a sign on the door that said, "due to rising costs we will need to charge slightly higher prices than previously." We did not see this sign, coming into the restaurant, which is our fault. However, there was no indication of the new prices on the menus, nor what percent increase in the food prices. In summary, I had a 20.2% increase in my food price; my husband had a 27.8% increase in his food price . The inconsistent percent increase between the two dishes, doesn't even make sense. And the lack of price increase on the signage and on the menus is deceptive advertising! I'll go a step further and report them to the BBB, (update: I have) as well, and perhaps even to the Iowa Attorney General's office (update: I have). What a bunch of scam artists! read more

Food was decent but they had a price increase and it was not reflected on the menu. Mine was blacked out. My wife's showed prices and when the check came each combo meal was $3,50 more than the menu! Even tho there is a sign posted about the prices. My understanding is that this has been going on for quite awhile now. I feel this was very deceptive and doubt we will come back! read more

Great place repurposed from an old Hardee's. You'll get wonderful Mexican food that is a 1000% improvement from the former restaurant. Big margaritas and great interior only improve the dining here. Go all in and have a fiesta. read more

First let me say I'm a Tex Mex fan and Mezcal is more original. So I order an enchilada aka cart. That said, the dining experience was excellent, all the way from the server, hot plates, and tasty food. The area was clean and inviting. The margaritas were awesome. The manager at the cash register was very polite and engaged us in a informative discussion regarding his establishing the restaurant in Dewitt. It would be great to add some Tex Mex enchiladas using American yellow cheese and chili sauce. read more

I'm not from Dewitt but was in town for a couple of days and I had lunch here yesterday with a few coworkers and I had the chicken chimichanga and it came with a side of rice and beans. This place is a treasure to Dewitt Iowa!! I've been here several times and they have never let me down. Their margaritas are large, delicious and not too sweet! Their chips and salsa are just what you want from a Mexican restaurant with their home made salsa and freshly fried chips! I always get the Chile Colorado when I go which is a chef special! The meat and sauce are always so tender and flavorful, which a great side of beans and rice. This place is close to the Quad Cities which has a lot of Mexican places but I'll always chose Mezcal over any of them! COVID update- they do take out food and drinks! So you can get a to-go margarita and enjoy your favorite food at home!:) read more

Tacos were not good at all. To be fair, I'm comparing them to a really good street taco. Beans and rice and salsa were all meh at best.

Never again! The food was OK but the service was horrible. Walked in around 6pm. Ordered around 6:15 or so. Got our food at 7:40. Asked for more chips and after 15min of waiting flagged someone else down. Had another customer that walked in about the time we ordered and was leaving (finished eating) when we got our food tell us we had a lot more patients than they would have. It was like we were forgotten about. More than once. They were busy but when people that come in after you finish and leave before you by quite a bit, you have other issues. read more

Today, my friend and I waited over 40 minutes for our food and 25 minutes to get our drinks. Whenever I come here without an adult with me, it takes forever for them to get our drinks and food.
