Stopped by on the way back to my Mom's house late last night after I left my buddies Bday party. Got my usual order. The lady cashier was super friendly, we were chatting for a little bit about the day before (Tommy's 80th Anniversary) and how busy they were. She was incredibly nice! The fries were bomb as usual. Friday night and my husband says he's hungry. Instead of figuring out a late-night snack at home, we just pulled into Original Tommy's World Famous Hamburgers. Problem solved. I don't eat beef, so this was fully his order. He got three burgers total: two California Classic Cheeseburgers and one Chili Cheeseburger. Timing was perfect. From 2/12 to 2/15/2026 they had a promo, Chili Cheeseburger or Classic Cheeseburger for $3.49 each. Getting 3 for the deal in 2026, especially in OC where fast food prices keep going up, felt like a little win. His take: The California Classic Cheeseburgers are thin and flavor wise, just okay. The Chili Cheeseburger was much better, thick chili, savory, mild kick, but you definitely need extra napkins when eating it. Three burgers for around $11 still feels like a good deal, especially for a late-night snack that no one has to cook. Everyone wins. Tommy's is not trendy or aesthetic. Haven't have Tommy for decades and was craving for the world famous chili. Drove by and got to go in since my chili craving is hitting the fan. Plenty of parking and convenience since it located right on corner of Goldenwest & Westminster. Clean & spacious with only outdoor seating - both covered and none. It's a drive-through and walk up. I walked up and with small menu as I remembered back in the 80s-90s. The smells of fries and the chilli just bring me back to my HS memories. Service was nice, friendly and fast. Got chilli fries & chilli double cheese burger, skipped the drink (think I got enough calories & fat for the day). That good old taste, crispy fries with that thick yummy tasty delicious chilli on top...I forgot to ask for onion, but it just as good as I remembered. If you live in Cali, you'll learn to like Tommy's. Is it the healthiest meal? Of course not. It's probably over indulge at a level that will give you a food coma. It's a nice burger with great flavors. Fresh vegetables, the pickles, tomatoes, really helps cut the richness of the chili. The bread is soft and pillowy, I did ask for extra toasted bun but the employee I would assume had a language barrier so it was hard to understand her. The burger has a nice beefy taste. The chili cheese fries, I mean oowy, gooey, crispy, crunchy, dark n cheesy flavored, great amazing fries. I had Tommy's in Vegas, just didn't hit the same unless you come to Cali, then you get the real deal chili with great flavors, the chili is beefy, oily, and seasoned well. Normally I just pay the bill, never look at it. It's so worth it I don't even care. I just realized how cheap this place is! Chili cheeseburgers (single) are only $4.70 each. The Chili cheese fries are a little more at $6.20 each. My large unsweetened iced tea was practically the most expensive thing at $3.40. Tommy's is one of the few fast food/drive thru places that still has a decent size large fountain drink, so I'm not mad. read more

If you want a classic burger or crave chili, this is a pretty good spot. I got the cali burger combo with chili cheese fries and a medium drink - costed me almost $17, which was a lot more than I thought I would be spending. The burger itself was average looking, but it was still tasty. I wish the buns were toasted a bit, but the lettuce, tomato, and onion that came in the burger was super fresh. The chili cheese fries were a little disappointing as I was told this place is known for their chili. I felt that the chili was very gelatinous and did not have a savory, unique flavor. It definitely will fill you up though as they made my small amount of fries very filling. I also prefer shredded cheese on my fries, but they used sliced cheese here. I gave it an extra star because the person at the window was super nice and the food came out pretty quickly. Also, my friends got the burrito here and they really enjoyed it and it was a hefty size, so maybe I'll branch away from the chili and try that instead. read more

Tommy's is my partners absolute favorite restaurant. I'm pretty sure if he had to eat somewhere for the rest of his existence, it would be here. With that said, here is my review: Tommy's is always quick and efficient and the service is quiet but always good. The orders are often accurate and even when asking for requests (I.e. no tomatoes, pickles, etc) the orders are consistently accurate. There are a few different spots in OC, but we tend to frequent this one and the FV ones the most. I decided to try the tamale the last time, as I had yet to try it with all the times I've been, and It was good. My number ones here will always be the chili dog with cheese and the chili fries with cheese. My partner would argue that the chili cheeseburger deserves a place on this review also- so here is the burgers shameless plug. Well, let me start by saying I have worked in the restaurant industry my whole life. I have been a busboy, a runner, a kitchen helper, a pantry worker, a fry cook... I have worked in the restaurant service industry supporting point-of-sale systems for 20 years. I went to Tommy's a few days ago and got a #1 combo (cc burger, fries, drink) - steep price. I also got a cc dog. It was a premium price for those items. It was last Thursday just before 12 noon and the store was not busy. I drove home and when I got home I noticed the burger was not hot. As I was eating I noticed, no - this burger is just warm. It was not as hot as the fries, which were still hot/warm. The burger was oddly square and compressed too. It was a pre-make. I think it was square because it was stacked with other burgers in a hotel pan. It was an expensive Pre-Make. The cc dog was the same, it was a pre-make. It was flat and the tomato on the top of the dog was pressed down into the chili and the whole top of the hotdog was flat. Probably, these are stacked in a plastic container and then reheated. The dog also was not hot by the time I ate it. I wonder if the health department visited the store if the temperature of the burgers and dogs sitting in the plastic container or hotel pan is hot enough to prevent someone from becoming ill. I wonder if there are older or younger guests that might get really ill eating that type of garbage. I'm gonna walk up to the store in the next weeks and look inside - prove me wrong and I will edit my review positively. Where is that big vat of chili that used to be visible from the front walk up window of the store? Are the premakes to save on labor? It does not make sense to serve an unsafe and bad product to save $20 per hour for one more person at lunchtime. That order cost me, alone, more than $25. Give me what I paid for! I came for their chili cheese burger and hotdog but I was a little disappointed. The chili itself was lacking a lot of flavor and I felt so bloated after. It felt like I was eating much with a party and a hotdog. They provided outdoor seating for us which was nice but the cashier was very demanding. We were new here and we didn't really feel welcomed. On the bright side, the hotdog was the one that turned the night around. The hotdog had a good snap to it and it just tasted better with the combination of toppings. You should come here only for the chili cheese fries! ($5) The fries were crispy and you can't go wrong with chili and cheese on top. However, their other items i tried was subpar. The chili cheese burger ($3.25) came with pickles was just okay. The patty was tiny and bland, the chili couldn't save it. The chili cheese hotdog ($4), which also came with pickles and onions was subpar was well. Similar to the burger, the hotdog was tiny and the bun was huge. I held back on this review for a long time, out of respect for one person, but enough time has passed. The food gave me the trots and wicked indigestion on account of their chili being mass-produced then shipped in plastic buckets. And their business ethics are questionable. I'll elaborate: This is not a happy, family-friendly independent business. Six months ago, I was roommates with an 80 year old who's best friends with the owner, his name is Bob. He's your stereotypical, rich, smug millionaire. They've been friends for like 30 years. The guy has more than one mansion, while she lives in a slum with a neurotic roommate. Pays her $100 a day, every couple of months, to sit for their dog at sub-minimum wage because he takes advantage of her kindness. The man has a wall of priceless baseball memorabilia, a drawer full of Rolex's, the list goes on. That mansion is up for sale right now. I was in a rough spot (in between an apartment I lived at for 15 years) and asked her to ask Bob if he could get me a part-time job, 20 hours a week, something to get by. A message was relayed to just go apply because they're always short staffed (Their words). I did and got a phone call the next day. This was not because of Bob, he didn't know where I was applying to. They just *really* need employees. It went well, nothing out of the ordinary, I told her I've been self-employed for 10 years, showed my credentials and she even fed me. The woman told me they have a few other applicants to decide on, I would hear something next week. It was a great interview, and the first one I've had in a long time. I was excited, to say the least. Fast forward: Turns out they're two-faced choosing beggars because the follow-up never happened, didn't hear from anybody. She got on him a few times and passed my info along, told him I was a decent guy, what location I applied at, nothing. Meanwhile, the "Now Hiring" sign is still sitting there. I have a handful of vouchers worth about $20 a piece that I never plan to use. I've given them away in lieu of tips to uber drivers and whatever. read more

A California classic, known for chilli burgers and somewhere most Californians would point out to be their top tier choice for their greasy fix after a long night of drinks, Tommy's. With the amount of reviews on all their locations, and the amount of cars lined up every time we end up driving by- we made it a mission to go and stop for a burger at least once. Post hike on a sunny Sunday afternoon, we were starving and couldn't imagine anything better than a burger. Ended up at the location located in Westminster, we chose to park and wander over to the take out window. We literally read the menu and stood in line behind 3 other gentlemen for about 15 minutes before finally reaching the window to be then told that they were only able to take cash. After pointing out that the sign right beside the window showed they took all forms of payment, they should probably write a sign or something so as to not waste anyone else's time. We went across the promenade to get cash, only pushing us to be hangrier. Finally, we got to sit down in the sun to enjoy our burgers and fries. Just a quick backstory. I'm not a huge chilli fan, we're not big chilli people up north. We had asked for 1 chilli cheeseburger and 2 hamburgers without chilli, we made it very clear with the ladies at the ordering counter to confirm we wanted a plain hamburger. Well, all three burgers we ordered all had chilli and cheese, so there's that. With the addition of pickles and tomatoes on each burger we ended up just finding the whole experience underwhelming. Chilli lacked flavor, the pickles added more of a punch than anything else. Burger patty was boring and bland, the only thing that was decent was probably the plain order of fries.
