I've had Orkin for two years. At first the service was really good, and I could definitely see a reduction of horrid pests like hornets and mosquitoes outside. The service did nothing for the spiders though, and after two years, anything I set outside still gets covered in cobwebs within two days. Now, I don't know if they changed their formula or what, but the hornets are back in numbers, and I'm forced to buy store spray to kill them. No sense in paying for both, and since Orkin was costing me over $1000 a year, I called to cancel. Instead of cancelling me, they promised to contact me with a more affordable plan. Their ACTUAL response? Crickets chirping! So I called again, this time insisting they cancel my service, and the operator I talked to said she did cancel it. Well guess what when I checked my bank balance today... sure enough, they charged me almost $60 AFTER I was told my account was cancelled! Now I have to go through the nightmare of having that $60 returned to me. I would give them less stars if I could. Do they come out and spray, yes. However, I had an estimate to put insulation in my attic. The gentleman came out looked at it and said yea ma'am we can put it in. It will be more insulation then you have so your house will be warmer and hold temperature better. He Also said they will come in a complete the service in one day. He quoted me 10K. It took them approximately a month and after they got it pulled out they said "oh no you won't have more insulation then you had in some areas you had 2 ft". ugh he said I would have more not less. The gentleman that put in the insulation were unreliable and unresponsive. several times they would say we will be here tomorrow I would stay home all day and no one would show up. I'd call the office and they'd say yes ma'am you're on the schedule. No one knew what was going on everyone was making empty promises. So then I canceled my service they said yes ma'am you're canceled and then they called to say they are coming to exterminate again. So I called back and they said oh yes ma'am you didn't pay last month that's why we didn't cancel your service so even though I was sure I had payed I paid another $100+ dollars so they tell me again yes ma'am your service is canceled. So again the next month I get another bill from orkin so I'm getting pretty annoyed why do I keep paying when I didn't have service and no it's not the insulation. I'm also sitting in a house that's freezing because I have over a foot less of insulation in my attic because they lied and said I'd have more. I have been a customer since June 2021 and my pest issue has not gotten better. On June 14th, I had Orkin come out for a touch up service. The first issue is that the technician is not knowledgeable about anything regarding any kind of pests. Orkin claims they will come out as many times as you need between services, however, the technician said I could pay for them to come more often (although I rarely call for touch ups)...and for the touch-ups he'll only be able to come inside for a few minutes and put down dust only. He informed me about a treatment in which he could go up to my attic to spread dust to help kill the pests. I told him I would like to have that treatment done. He then tried to talk me out of it. He said it would be difficult for him because he'd have to go up to the attic with a mask on and spread dust around. He advised I first call a company that treats yard pests and see if that helps reduce the pests (although Orkin also treats outside of my house). I told him I would do both because we need to get more aggressive with treatments. He quoted me $50 for the attic treatment and said the office would be upset about the price he quoted. He then "called" someone at the office and set the appointment for 6/28 for anytime in the afternoon, and told them the price he quoted me. On the 28th, I called Orkin that morning to confirm if someone would be there that afternoon because I never got an email confirmation. I called several times and Brittany finally answered and said she would have to call me back due to "technical difficulties". She did not call back, so I called her back. She put me on hold and came back and said she apologize they wouldn't be able to come today and asked if they could come the next day between 2-4pm. I said that was fine. The next day, I got an automated text at 8:28am stating Orkin was on their way. No one was actually on their way or showed up. I called again to confirm that someone would be there between 2-4, because once again, they sent no confirmation as they always do before appointments. I called around 1pm and "Kimberly" answered and confirmed someone would be there between 2-4pm. I traveled back home and arrived around 1:45pm. At 3:57pm, I called the office to determine why someone had not shown up. Every time I called, someone picked up and immediately said "please hold" and placed me on hold and never answered. They also immediately hung up other times. My name shows up for them based on me calling from the number on my account, so they were trying to avoid speaking with me. At 5:54pm, they sent an automated text stating Orkin had arrived at my home. No one was actually there. No one contacted me. When I log into my account, they have it listed as they serviced the home that same day on the 29th, although they did not. I'll be contacting the Branch Manager, leaving reviews everywhere, and canceling service. read more
