I fell at work and suffered an injury and was sent to MidAmerica Orthopedics in Palos Hills. I had…read moreto see two specialists, one for my hand and wrist and another for my hip. The day after the fall I was experiencing pain in my shoulder, wrist, and hip and groin area. The doctor I saw for my hand and wrist provided an order for occupational therapy, which has worked wonders for improving my wrist mobility. I later had a CT scan and was seen by Dr. Kevin Lindsay-Rivera and PA Alexandrea Bosen. During that visit we reviewed the CT scan and Dr. Lindsay-Rivera explained the different types of tears and possibilities that could be causing my pain. During that same visit I informed both Dr. Kevin Lindsay-Rivera and PA Alexandrea Bosen about all of the areas where I was experiencing pain. Dr. Lindsay-Rivera performed a physical exam and when he moved my right leg inward I felt a sharp pain. He stopped the exam and suggested getting an MRI to see if there was a tear or anything further going on. At that point PA Bosen stated that she would clear me to return to work. I explained again that I was still in pain. Her response felt very condescending, as if I was trying to stay off work rather than explaining that I was genuinely in pain. The visit ended with her saying that we would schedule a follow up appointment on March 5, 2026 and re evaluate then. I had the MRI completed at an outside imaging facility because workers compensation only covers certain locations. On March 5, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. I arrived for my appointment with the MRI disc. The staff took the disc and then realized that the imaging center had not sent over the written report. Because of that, I was not seen and I was not evaluated. I explained that my pain had actually gotten worse. Once again I felt dismissed and was told they would contact me with their findings. I called multiple times to get an update because I needed to report back to my job with the results. I eventually spoke with PA Bosen and again I felt dismissed when I explained the situation. She became defensive and said, "From an orthopedic point, you are okay to return to work. We understand that you are in pain but we cannot help you with that." I explained that saying I was clear to return to work would make my employer believe I had been fully evaluated and found to be fine. The next day, March 6, I went back to the office to get a work note because I had been dismissed the day before without an exam or even a proper conversation. I was told that Dr. Lindsay-Rivera was out of the office and that I could not get a note because his documentation had not yet been finalized. I then spoke with the workers compensation coordinator, Cris Garcia. She told me she would take care of it on Monday, March 9, when the doctor returned to the office. Monday passed with no update. On Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m. I called again and was told that the doctor had not responded to her the day before. Later that afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., my job called and informed me that I had been released back to work and was advised to follow up with my primary care physician because the injury supposedly did not appear to be related to the fall. They even suggested it might be something internal such as ovarian pain or appendicitis. At that point I felt completely ignored and made to feel like a liar. Last week I had my annual appointment with my primary care physician and explained the fall and the pain I have been experiencing. Her response was, "That sounds like a groin strain or a hip joint injury. Did they give you a referral to a sports medicine doctor or physical therapy?" I told her no and that they were simply trying to release me back to work. She then asked, "Even though you are still experiencing pain?" My primary care physician knows my medical history and did not jump to conclusions about appendicitis or ovarian pain. In all my years of seeking medical care, this is the first time I have ever felt dismissed and possibly biased against by medical professionals. I truly hate that I still have to return there to see the hand specialist. I do not want to walk through the doors of that facility again. I ultimately had to advocate for myself with my employer and request a second opinion. That is something I should not have had to do if the providers had simply listened to me as a patient.

With Dr Primus & team please bring up all the issues you have in order for treatment to be successful. I came for my knees I believe I slipped and fell when it icy out onto my knees, maybe 4-5 years ago but I didn't break anything. My knees finally had it and started to buckle after exercising last spring. Dr Primus performed surgery on the left knee which gave me the most problems. The right started feel the effects of overuse so I received a steroid injection. My surgery went well I was able to maneuver on my own without crutches within 5 weeks. Trust when I tell you that the recovery is painful but you'll get better in time. Trust the process with keeping up with appointments PT and doing exercises at home. PT team is all that, always attentive to working my knees using equipment and body calisthenics. You don't wait for them normally give precise appointments so you're not rushed but again let them know how you are feeling and all issues. To care for yourself after will aid you in recovery. A 9.5 out of 10 for me but be prepared to wait for Dr Primus. He is very skilled, attentive and trying to help out everyone. For the most part people are willing to wait to wait for him. Bring your patience when choosing Dr Primus, you will wait some times but he is so worth it!!! Before coming to CSO I previously went to a center whom I shall NOT name and they were not attentive. They played with my health and pain, that was a NO go for me, I took my injuries, my money and found Dr Primus. In the past, I have received substantial physical therapy at Athletico for various injuries and surgical rehab & I can say with 100% certainty that the quality of physical therapy care at Athletico and the physical therapy professional equipment at Athletico is far superior than that of PTSIR. On 12/30/2024, I attended my 1st physical therapy session at PTSIR. I was taken into a small room approximately 9' x 10'. Due to small size of the room, the entire right side of the PT table was pushed flush all the way against the wall thereby rendering it impossible to perform the PT exercise I was instructed to perform which required my right lower body to extend past the edge of the right side of the table. The physical therapist & clinic director said - you're not going to be able perform the exercise to the right because the table is against the wall. Even though it was an impossibility to perform one of the PT exercises due to the location of the PT table being flush against the wall on the right side, PTSIR billed $655 for a 50 minute PT session. This is unacceptable and outrageous! PTSIR's lack of space & improper PT set-up and/or unwillingness to spend the money to lease or build-out a proper PT space is unacceptable. I was advised by the clinic director & physical therapist to contact the billing department at PTSIR. I twice spoke Nina in the billing department. Both times Nina represented she would call me back by date certain but failed to call me back. This is unprofessional & unacceptable & exemplifies the poor manner in which this company conducts its business operations. Subsequently, I also spoke with Melanie, Christina & twice spoke with supervisor Kathy F. in PTSIR's billing department. I was told by the billing department that Nina orally claimed that she did call me back & leave me a voicemail message, however, that was blatant lie as my call log does not show an incoming or missed call from Nina & I did not receive a voicemail message from Nina. Again, this misrepresentation & blatant lie by Nina is unprofessional & unacceptable & exemplifies the poor manner in which this company conducts its business operations. Like Nina, supervisor, Kathy F. also twice represented she would call me back by date certain but failed to do so. Again, supervisor Kathy F.'s failure to follow through with her representations is unprofessional & unacceptable & exemplifies the poor manner in which this company conducts its business operations. Additionally, both the clinic director & Kathy F. represented that they would send a message to the regional manager, Joshua V., to contact me directly to further discuss this matter. Almost 2 weeks elapsed, however, I did not receive a call from the regional manager, Joshua V. I obtained Joshua V.'s business contact number, & called & left him a voicemail message. Joshua V. did return my call, however, he claimed he never received a message from Kathy F. or the clinic director. Clearly, either Kathy F. & the clinic director failed to send Joshua V. a message to contact me as they represented they would do or Joshua V. is lying as to whether he received a message from one or both of them to call me directly. Again, this demonstrates the poor manner in which this company & its employees conduct its business operations. Joshua V. was unhelpful and unable to do anything with regard to this matter, and quite frankly, needs some additional & significant training as to how to professionally communicate with patients & clientele.
