Patio private party gathering for 24 over 4th of July weekend

This family owned Inn displays a sense of purpose that shows through in so many ways.  We were honored to host a private party dinner here on the patio for 24 immediate family members as a continuation of the celebration of our granddaughter's Bat Mitzvah. From the beginning, the planning with Ed and the team was an extreme pleasure. They made it easy and shared our joy in the occasion and in the opportunity to have family together.    It was great to meet the many family members who took such good care of us. We were expecting a gorgeous sunny day but got torrential rain. The patio was warm and dry and the view of the Bay in the storm was great!   They prepared a menu of craft cocktails which delighted our guests and our server, Meghan, a family member, was able to match each drink with the owner even though the crowd kept moving around during the cocktail hour.   The menu was great with options for the kids, the vegetarians, the kosher, carnivores and seafood lovers and the food and service was great. We had such a lovely evening. Thanks to the entire team!

If it wasn't for the ambiance, this place would be getting two stars. Came here last night and sat outside, and it quickly got very cold throughout our dinner. I wished they could have rolled down a couple of the plastic curtains to keep the cold air out or warmth in - anything would have helped. Our server was very sweet and polite but our apps and meals took way too long. We believe we waited over 30 minutes for our simple app to come out and while it was good, it wasn't worth the wait. For meals, he ordered the coconut shrimp special and he was very underwhelmed with the flavor, quality and shrimp. I ordered a wrap with no flavor. To spice it up, I asked for blue cheese dressing and got ranch. I took about three or four bites and didn't want anymore. Oh well. The fries tasted frozen and were just ok. All in all, not a place I would recommend for people looking for a nice date night out.

Wasn't overwhelmed with food here. Our server was great and of course, the view on the deck was amazing. That being said, I think the food has gone downhill over the years. We went last week for lunch and thought we would splurge on some lobster salad and a couple drinks to enjoy the great weather. For a $26 salad, you think you would've gotten more lobster salad AND lettuce. Salad was simply lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes sliced in half (think of a side salad portion). The lobster salad scoop was maybe 1/4 cup. Would've been happy to pay that price for a larger portion but the lobster did not taste fresh either. The view is worth it for drinks, but I won't be coming back for food any time soon.

Right in the heart of Orleans (mid Cape) and right up the road from a charming beach (Skaket Beach). Not to mention a pretty nice brew house. We each had different kinds of rooms. I was in unit 1.which is a standard room, two queen sized beds, a micro, a fridge and tv. The rooms are very spacious with plenty of closet space and a nice chest of drawers. Location, space, let's see....oh, the breakfast! Yes, you heard me right. There is a delightful selection of home baked goods and really good coffee, not to mention the cheerful owner ready to help with ANY situation. Our dog picked up a tic during a very aggressive season, but we didn't have the necessary tweezers. We asked our charming hostess and she gave us her own from her house. So nice! We thankfully didn't need them as it was tangled in his fur but still, we were so very grateful. If you go off season like we do then it's nice and quiet. It's also cheaper than the seasonal prices. Either way though, they have just rooms and rooms with a small kitchenette available. They will also bend over backwards to make sure your stay is memorable.

The Olde Tavern has been recently remodel and had comfortable beds, crisp fresh sheets and a nice continental breakfast. Peter, who oversees it, is welcoming and helpful and the staff who cleans the rooms are cheerful and do a nice job. After staying at hotels during the pandemic with limited room service, it was lovely to come back each day to beds newly made and plenty of fresh towels. The pool is tucked behind the main office and feels very private-I was there alone one evening and it felt like I was swimming in a garden with trees above and hydrangea around the pool. This was our first visit to the Cape (our grandkids summer in Brewster). We were able to access our room with my grandsons wheelchair using our portable ramp. It would be nice if they could make a few room accessible with ramps. Ugh

Beds are full, not queen, so my tall daughters did not fit on them. They aren't especially comfortable. We appreciated the easy access to nearby shops and the refrigerator. We rolled up around 7pm on a Friday evening, and our keys were on the desk in the empty office. We were a bit underwhelmed by the locks (big-city people, I guess) and the dim lighting. We haven't met Brandon, but Samantha took care of us with an extra rollaway when the girls didn't fit two on a bed. She was also helpful with info about beaches and swimming. The biggest complaint I have is a serious delay and/or lack of communication. We emailed a question about the tornado on July 24th, and got an answer only on the 27th, after we were here. Then, last night at ten, when it was clear the circuits had blown in our room, there was no one in the office and no one answered the two phones listed on the door. I also texted, but no one answered. The electricity situation worried me anyway, as there are grounded sockets only in the bathroom, and there are adaptors for the tv/fridge area. I was hoping that the place wouldn't catch on fire. Luckily we didn't need any night-time electricity and could use our phones as nite-lights. The water is hot and plentiful, and the shower pressure is great. We enjoyed the bunnies in the yard and might have spent more time on the deck behind our room if we had more time.

Sorry, but I've been coming here for 45 years and nothing's changed. Cottage grove cottages are impeccable. This is a quiet refuge from kiddos. Sorry, but that's my take on it. There is no pool, no playground, none of that. Plenty of those elsewhere and that's where the kids are. Go enjoy that if that is what you need. This is quiet and wonderful for adults, couples, singles, artists, empty nesters or anyone wanting to get away from screaming, kids crying and yelling, parents, cursing, car horns.... Ah.
