While visiting family on the Cape we stayed here for an evening. Ed the owner was so kind and generous with his hospitality. He offered us a free upgrade, to the presidential suite, the biggest and best room. Room 10 had big windows with a beautiful view of the ocean. It had a frig, small living room 2 T.V's,and nice sized bath with a refreshing shower. The king bed was comfy and provided a good nights sleep. Ed made us a tasty breakfast of eggs and bacon before our travels. There was a 24 hr coffee, tea, soda and snack station available to all guests as well. Thank you so much ed for your generosity and kindness we hope to come back! Try to check out the cupola if you can dare the steep steps. read more

** Restaurant - Waterfront Deck ** I feel like this is a local spot vs a tourist must, which we can appreciate! After a long drive in, we found this restaurant online and they had availability on a Saturday night. The food was good, but it was way WAY too much. I wish they warned us bc we should have shared. I don't understand huge portions in general, but GIANT portions without warning leads to an unnecessary waste of food. I would not describe the ambience of the deck as inviting or cute, but the view was nice and the server and hostess staff were lovely. I don't think it is a must if you are in Orleans, but if you want easy and dependable, I think this is a good option. read more

Wow, what an inn! We found this after being scammed on the internet into a fake rental, and it felt like a miracle. Could not have found a better place. The whole feel of the place is comforting, warm, kind, and charming. Right on the water, free delicious eggs and bacon for breakfast, sensational views morning and night on the patio, adorable rooms with free Cape Cod potato chips and waters every day, such a charming lobby and tribute to the family who owns it. So pet/dog friendly. We loved walking Gerbert in the morning along the peaceful water and windmill. We walked up the block to the Ice Cream Cafe every night. I want to come back here the next time I'm in Cape Cod - it has all the charm that you want when you're looking for a hotel in this area. The owner Ed works tirelessly, literally morning and night, to make sure you have such a great, clean, relaxing, happy stay. Mission accomplished. 5 stars!!!!! read more

This family owned Inn displays a sense of purpose that shows through in so many ways.  We were honored to host a private party dinner here on the patio for 24 immediate family members as a continuation of the celebration of our granddaughter's Bat Mitzvah. From the beginning, the planning with Ed and the team was an extreme pleasure. They made it easy and shared our joy in the occasion and in the opportunity to have family together.    It was great to meet the many family members who took such good care of us. We were expecting a gorgeous sunny day but got torrential rain. The patio was warm and dry and the view of the Bay in the storm was great!   They prepared a menu of craft cocktails which delighted our guests and our server, Meghan, a family member, was able to match each drink with the owner even though the crowd kept moving around during the cocktail hour.   The menu was great with options for the kids, the vegetarians, the kosher, carnivores and seafood lovers and the food and service was great. If it wasn't for the ambiance, this place would be getting two stars. Came here last night and sat outside, and it quickly got very cold throughout our dinner. I wished they could have rolled down a couple of the plastic curtains to keep the cold air out or warmth in - anything would have helped. Our server was very sweet and polite but our apps and meals took way too long. We believe we waited over 30 minutes for our simple app to come out and while it was good, it wasn't worth the wait. For meals, he ordered the coconut shrimp special and he was very underwhelmed with the flavor, quality and shrimp. I ordered a wrap with no flavor. To spice it up, I asked for blue cheese dressing and got ranch. I took about three or four bites and didn't want anymore. Oh well. The fries tasted frozen and were just ok. All in all, not a place I would recommend for people looking for a nice date night out. read more

This is a very average restaurant with below average service. We tried this restaurant because we were dining after 7:00 PM with our two small kids and didn't want a long wait (we were not early- birds this time.) We were seated promptly on the outdoor patio( at our request.) We ordered clam chowder and oysters on the half shell. Clam chowder was good, but was served warm, not hot. Oysters were fairly good but served without horseradish. I was going to ask for some but the waitress (who was pleasant enough) disappeared and we didn't see her again for 15 minutes. Our entrees arrived. At that time, the waitress cleared our chowder cups and other plates to make room for the entrees. I requested some paper napkins to clean up some food that had spilled. They never came. I got the caesar salad with shrimp. It was drowning in dressing. The shrimp were good but might not have been washed before grilling- they were gritty. Wife had the spinach salad and thought it was fine. Kids had hotdogs. They were fine. The waitress came back to clear the entree plates. This was the third time she visited our table in an hour and a half. There was no bus boy, so our table was a mess. She didn't know enough to care. We won't be returning. $120 dollars with tip for average food and virtually no service is a bit tough to take. read more

My wife and I held our daughter's wedding ceremony and reception at the Orleans Inn. It was fantastic in every way. The Maas family was incredibly helpful. They gave us terrific recommendations for wedding vendors (flowers, music, etc), they took care of making all of the arrangements for an outdoor ceremony at the windmill next door, and they even had a great backup plan in case of rain (no rain, yay!). Ed Maas let us decorate the dance area as we pleased. Dinner was held on the deck overlooking the cove. The table settings were beautiful and oh, the food!!! I can't say enough good about the Maas family and what a great time everyone had at a beautiful venue. Wonderful. read more

I have mixed feelings about the orleans Inn. My daughter loves it and we go every year but as a fancier restaurant I'm always looking for something fancier than fried fish in either a sandwich or on a platter. I've had the scallops and dried peaches casserole and I guess the casserole term says it all. It's a culinary mistake. The fried scallops are great and the view is amazing but I wish they'd venture out a bit. read more

What a lovely experience we had having dinner overlooking the water on the patio of Orleans Inn. Felt especially safe with outdoor experience during this summer of uncertainty. Had crab cakes that were cooked to perfection served with a delicate dribble of lime chili sauce. Berry Sangria was fabulous, and lobster bisque was the best I ever had. My traveling companion had scallops that were out of this world. Wonderful ambience hearing the water lapping against the shore, and looking out at the same view the old sea merchant whose home this once was, must have looked out upon as well. read more

This boutique hotel and restaurant has mastered the keys of service, quintessential Cape Cod style, and attentive staff. I've actually been going here since the 1970's and I have been thrilled will the "new" owner who has cared for this Cape Cod gem for over 20 years. Being part of the family is the feel you get whether you're stopping in for a drink, dinner, or staying several nights. If you want the just built last year look go elsewhere. Wasn't overwhelmed with food here. Our server was great and of course, the view on the deck was amazing. That being said, I think the food has gone downhill over the years. We went last week for lunch and thought we would splurge on some lobster salad and a couple drinks to enjoy the great weather. For a $26 salad, you think you would've gotten more lobster salad AND lettuce. Salad was simply lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes sliced in half (think of a side salad portion). The lobster salad scoop was maybe 1/4 cup. Would've been happy to pay that price for a larger portion but the lobster did not taste fresh either. The view is worth it for drinks, but I won't be coming back for food any time soon. read more

This happened a few years ago but Yelp wasn't around and I had no way of publishing the bad experience I had with the Orleans Waterfront hotel. My family rented a big house a few blocks away and I made a reservation for 2 rooms in case there was an overflow of family. They told me I could cancel within 24 hours. The day before the reservation, I saw that there was no need for the extra room and given that it was only a 5 minute walk away I walked over. It was a Sunday and they were busy with a wedding going on. I went to the front desk and asked them to cancel the reservation. The man told he'd do that and I left. When my credit card bill came in, I saw that I was charged for $275. I called and they said that it would get reversed and to just wait for the next bill. The next bill it wasn't reversed so I called again. I spoke to someone who said they had never received a cancellation from me. I told him I went in to cancel but he didn't believe me. I described the interior and the wedding that day but they would not refund my money or even work with me on splitting it although it was there mistake! I called my credit card company and they said that they had a right to do this unless I had gotten a cancellation number from them. They never gave me one. Now I've learned to always asked for a confirmation number when you cancel a reservation. Anyway, I would be extremely careful with working with this hotel as they are obviously more money-conscious than concerned about making their customers happy. I had to eat $275 even though I never used their room and cancelled in time. read more

Yesterday we had a wonderful experience at the Orleans Waterfront Inn. We celebrated a dual birthday party with family and friends, some coming from as far away as Atlanta, Virginia, and Chicago. Everything was amazing. Friendly and competent staff, super view (we had the whole main dining room to ourselves), and we are all still talking about how great the food was. During planning stage, Ed was very responsive to my emails. He and his team took care of everything and even recommended a local bakery which delivered a delicious german chocolate b-day cake. Another nice touch was the custom and personalized menu that was handed out to guests, some keeping them as a keepsake. This was my first visit to the Orleans Waterfront Inn, but it won't be my last. read more

This is a review of the restaurant only. The atmosphere (and prices) of this place led me to believe that it would be a cut above the typical Cape restaurant. Well, the food is okay but not spectacular (although the lobster bisque is probably the best on the Cape), and the prices are out of line for what you get. The service is outstanding, though, and our waitress definitely earned the generous tip we left. If you're not on a budget and atmosphere matters to you, then head on over. This place is a near tragedy, because with just a little fix-up to the decor, and a huge fix-up to the menu, it could easily be one of the prime spots on the Cape. The views are truly breathtaking from the downstairs deck, and it's very relaxing. The servers are nice as can be. Too bad the food, for lack of a better word, is disgusting. Can't really steer you to anything on the menu, will just tell you to avoid raw bar items at all costs! I love going to The Orleans Inn for lunch - their back deck over looking the water is just lovely. While the view is definitely five stars, the food is more like three, as is the service and ambience, but I'd happily return for lunch anytime. I had a caesar salad with shrimp, which was decent if a little heavy on the dressing. I had a few of My Mother's fries, which were delicious -battered and slightly crisp, just the way I like them. The menu had lots of items - salads, sandwiches, fresh fish - so there's definitely something for everyone. I know they host events such as weddings here, and I can see this being quite nice for such an occasion. Location is right on 6A, so not a lot of privacy, but nice and central and the building itself is lovely. Me? I'll stick with lunch on the back porch. read more

My wife, sister and I stopped in here for lunch and ordered two Bloody Mary's and a Mimosa. The drinks seemed light on alcohol so we ordered two shots of vodka and an extra glass of champagne. best kept secret in the area! incredible views from the rooms, excellent breakfast INCLUDED with room, free parking, walking distance to restaurants/ice cream/bakeries/bars galore. the owner is incredibly hardworking... he runs the office, cooks the breakfast, vacuums... he gives this place his all and it is obvious. the rooms are a tad outdated (broken soap holder, like 10inch TV, etc) but they are clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. would recommend to anyone and everyone! read more

The Orleans Inn is a beautiful, serene inn run by extremely generous and kind people who take so much pride in their establishment that you almost feel honored to be staying there! My boyfriend and I (and our feisty dog) decided to spend our last night on the Cape there after a week stay at a much less attractive location (Beachfront White Sands). Upon arrival, we were told that we had been upgraded to the Presidential Suite. Our rooms were ready several hours before check-in, we were allowed to check out several hours late, and our interaction with Ed, the owner and his two daughters was lovely. Everyone was extremely courteous, helpful, and sweet. The place is dog friendly, has no night minimums, and you can cancel by 6 PM the night of your arrival. Our suite was gorgeous. We had seen some of the other rooms when we stopped by to book and they seemed equally nice. Every detail was taken care of, from the plush bedding, postcards in the jewelry box, to the embroidered holder covering the spare toilet paper rolls. The view of the Cove was spectacular as well, especially the sunset. The restaurant downstairs was great too. The food was delicious and the service was efficient for such a busy place. What was surprising were the extremely reasonable prices for a beachfront restaurant. The restaurant had great drinks, great entrees, and for someone that doesn't eat chocolate cake, I finished my boyfriend's portion! This place was so impressive that I'd consider it for a wedding one day. The only regrets we have are not getting to spend more time there and we will certainly be back, maybe even before next summer! read more

This restaurant was quite subpar. Great location right by a lake with a beautiful view. But the food was disgusting. All of our dishes were oddly sweet - my cod, which was strongly recommended by the server, had sweet breadcrumbs on it which was gross. So was my friend's shrimp, the casserole and the chicken pasta. When the server asked if we wanted Dessert we all laughed since it we felt like we just had it. Also the food took about an hour to be ready and the service was only passable. Just ask Mr. Maas, one of the lovely, friendly owners. Did you sleep a little long and miss the delicious breakfast downstairs? Chances are he'll cook you some eggs and bacon and deliver them to your room. Oh, and they're pet-friendly, so bring your furry friends along. Stopped in to the Orleans Inn today to have a late lunch on the beautiful waterfront deck. We have been here numerous times in recent years and always had an enjoyable time- today was no different! I started with a frozen strawberry daquiri and my mom had a frozen bellini. Both were delicious and perfect for a beautiful summer afternoon. Mom had a buffalo chicken wrap which was very nice and I had the special "seafood cakes" which were a mixture of many seafoods- lobster, scallop, cod, shrimp, crab. They were nice, very hot and crisp. The fried food is always delicious here. Beautiful view and tasty food, how can you go wrong? read more

While driving around the Cape, we came along this restaurant. While they had comfortable outside seating we wanted a clear view of the water so we ate upstairs in the bar area. The ambience was nice, but the service from our waitress was slow. I don't like having empty drink glasses, especially while eating. The clam chowder was ok, nothing special, but full of clams. The lobster salad roll was amazing. Pretty much all lobster, with a little mayo to hold it together. Decided to have chips and luckily they served cape cod potato chips. read more

This review is only about the food. Stopped in for Sunday brunch Columbus Day weekend, walked out very satisfied. We had a choice between the dining room and the tavern (same menus), we chose the tavern...very friendly atmosphere and good food with a great view of the water. My French toast was delicious, although I would have preferred maple syrup rather than the fake stuff. Bacon was a few bucks extra, but came with a generous portion. My friend went for the lunch menu instead of brunch, she ordered a lobster quesadilla and bacon wrapped scallops...the quesadilla was loaded with huge hunks of claw meat and the scallops were perfect. Get your Bloody Mary with extra horseradish, they don't make it nearly spicy enough here. read more

I needed a place to stay in the outer cape that was convenient, clean and well run. I am so glad that I found Orleans Waterfront Inn. I have stayed in hotels and resorts around the world; however when I find a place with a caring staff, that is beautiful, clean with delicious food and excellent service, I truly feel that I am somewhere special. This was my experience at Orleans Waterfront Inn. Additionally, the owner was onsite the entire stay and made it feel better than home. If you've read my other Yelp reviews (and I would doubt you have), then you are aware of my affinity for Cape Cod dining and nightlife, and in particular, the lovely oceanside town of Orleans. I've been to the restaurant at Orleans Waterfront Inn many times over the last several years, and it's been OK for the most part. In fact, were I basing this review on the rustic and quaint bar that overlooks the town cove, I'd probably give it four stars. The same could be said for if I were reviewing some of the meals I've eaten there 2-3 years ago. But were I to focus my review on my most recent Orleans Inn experience (just last weekend), it would be a two-star review at best. Hence the three-star review you are reading, which is a composite review of sorts. The girl and I had dinner here at 7:30 on a Saturday night. We were thrilled to learn that we could get a table outside by the water. It's a nice view of the cove, albeit a tad chilly that night. Our waitress seemed new and was mostly likely recently-hired summer help. She was pleasant, though, and friendly enough. The issue seemed to be the kitchen that night. While our appetizer (an above average quesadilla) arrived fairly quickly, it took another thirty minutes for the entree to come out. The place wasn't exactly busy, so this seemed a little peculiar. Perhaps they went to catch the shrimp for my dish? Ahhhh, I wish. The Thai Coconut Shrimp (it was a special that night) was adequate, but tasted more like something I could get at an inexpensive Asian take-out joint. Her buffalo chicken wrap was bland and run of the mill. For what the meal cost and for how long we had to wait, it was not at all worth it. Will I return to the restaurant at Orleans Inn? For a drink or two up at the bar early in the evening to catch the sunset reflect on the water, sure. Otherwise, I'm in no rush to go back there. There are far better meals to be had in Orleans and the surrounding towns. read more

Enjoyed a nice dinner with friends here and watched the sun set - it was stunning. The food was enjoyed by all and all had some sort of a seafood dish. The drinks were excellent as was the desserts. Overall it was a very nice dining experience. We dined off season so the place was near empty and service very fast. Was here also before I knew about Yelp. This place looks great. I was really exited to go here, because of how they brag about their fantastic awards. The first thing that struck me was the fact that we were in Cape Cod and they had practically nothing local on the menu. I came looking for fish, so I ordered the tilapia. Other people at out table ordered scallops and steaks. We were all laughing and having a good time when our dinners came. I soon noticed that the table grew silent and everyone had stopped eating with our plates almost all full. Someone broke the silence with a comment, "this is not good." We figured the server or manager would ask us why we haven't eaten any of our food, but they didn't. They just picked up all of the full plates and dropped off the bill. The food was awful. By far the worst food I have ever received at any restaurant in my life. The fish tasted like they started cooking it they day before. I won't go into anymore detail, but 8 starving people left the restaurant still starving, that should be enough to tell you how bad it was. We emailed the manager when we got back home to tell him about our experience. We were not looking for any freebies, just an apology or explanation. We got no such thing. He shot back with how many awards they have won and we are a bunch of complainers. The arrogance was astounding I was very insulted. I notice he still shoots back in his comments to Yelpers about all of their awards and continues his arrogant attitude. He is terrible at taking criticism. I was always taught that as a restaurant, you are only as good as your last meal. Apparently he was taught that when he receives negative criticism, you tell people that they are wrong and flaunt your awards. read more

In bad experiences I would give them a five star for all around unsatisfying. I have been there five different times,I would go back only for a drink on the deck. No food and open air!
