(Although I sometimes felt, esp. in the beginning of my duration with her, that I was being looked at under a microscope, as she sits with her laptop and types away while you talk . . . ). There are numerous reasons for needing a psychiatrist. Im very open about mine (mainly anxiety and large amounts of stress from being a single parent and I'm overly emotional - STILL hurt and adjusting to divorced life after 11 1/2 years, plus in general - just who I am . . . !) I am a strong proponent of mental health help and ending the stigma of having mental "illness," a term that I LOATHE! There's a history of anxiety and depression in my family. UGH! I have those, along with insomnia and OCD!!! There is no shame in getting help. "They" equate depression/anxiety, etc., to a Diabetic needed insulin . . . very true. Just do what you have to basically! Having a good psychiatrist in place is so important to your overall health. They track your medication and reactions to it / them. Meds are "tweaked" when necessary. Dr. Talati airs on the cautious side and is definitely NOT "med happy!" In fact, she won't even put me back on Lunesta :( that another doctor had me on. Dr. Talati has helped me tremendously, in addition to my counselor. Having both is the ideal. Her office is very tranquil and private. It's also welcoming. Insurance guidelines change in 2020, so be careful. Lastly, Dr. Talati offers TMS if you're a candidate. Just watch out for those disgusting co-pays!

Dr. Talati is a good doctor. She is one of the few psychiatrists who will listen to you and your…read moreconcerns and won't treat you like a guinea pig with medication. She will identify where your problem area is and prescribe a medication to address it verses other "doctors" that have asked me, "so what do you want to try?" Then list all the medications out there, which is so wrong. Some medications work well on receptors to release more hormones where others block the uptake. She understands this and explains it. When you see her, just be flexible because she is not always on time since she does have many patients and gives them more time if it's needed. This is also a good thing because she won't cut you off if your time is up. She is genuine.

I was a patient for less than 5 months. She did nothing. She said nothing of importance, no help whatsoever. She is also extremely airheaded and went off on tagents and would lose me completely. I can honestly say that this was the most pointless experience of my life. She's a shrink that NEEDS A SHRINK. I would probably only use her for medication management, if she agrees to continue your treatment. I also felt she was extremely lazy. Very lazy. I believe she is looking to retire. I got that feeling. She definitely was either scared or intimidated by me and I dont feel sorry she felt that way. When you're an incompetent physician and everything is too difficult and out of her job duty. She releases you without even confirming follow-up care. If I would have had to go through withdrawal because of her incompetency, I would have sued her. Elizabeth Burns, its time for you to retire. You are of no use to our mental health community. You do more detriment and harm than good. Do not let your kids see her. She dislikes medication and just doesn't hear her patients and our children are important. I felt she was useless. Never returned calls. Never returned emails. Bad form. Bad doctor. Needs to go! I am so disappointed in the mental healthcare industry. They just give anyone a license. There board should mandate CEU classes. She was even attacked by a patient for messing with their mental health medicatios, by not LISTENING! SHAMEFUL! She claimed victim mentality and won the case because she's a doctor, um, duh of course courts would side with a DOCTOR!? Poor guy got jail time for this woman who acts like a victim.

I have never written a review before, but this situation has brought me to tears, and I think…read morepeople need to be warned about this company. This review is not about my provider. She was great. She no longer works with/for Harmony Bay, either by choice or because she was let go. Either way, I was disappointed to see her go, and I chose not to see a different provider, largely because the cost was starting to become too much after my financial situation changed. My issue comes from their atrocious billing practices. When I first started receiving care, I realized I was not getting bills, and I discovered that my insurance was not accepting claims because of the way my sessions were being coded (according to my insurance company). After fighting with my insurance, my appointments were finally accepted and all processed at once, which resulted in a large balance that I could not pay all at once. Part of the issue was also that each session ended up costing more than I originally expected. I paid as much as I could each month, but the balance started stacking up. Maybe I should have stopped seeing my provider earlier, but I was seeing her because I needed the help and did not feel ready to stop yet. Once I stopped having active appointments, I set up a payment plan to take care of my balance while paying what I could afford each month. At the end of April, I received a voicemails from Harmony Bay asking if I would like to increase my payments. I read the transcript and moved on without calling back because I did not want to increase them. I never received any other communication about this, so I was very surprised when I received an email stating that I had been charged $90 today. I looked into it further and discovered that I had also been charged $125 yesterday and $160 a couple of weeks before that. I now have to come up with an unexpected extra $350 this month, which I cannot afford. They offered to refund the $90 charge from today, but I told them I would deal with it myself, mostly because I was starting to tear up and did not want to burst into tears with a stranger on the phone. It is completely unacceptable to charge a person's card for multiple $100+ payments that they did not consent to. An unexpected $350 charge in one month is a lot of money for someone to come up with out of the blue. I'm just so frustrated and upset with this situation.
