Unlike previous psychiatrists I've seen, Dr. D actually takes the time to talk to you to better understand your situation and provides real guidance on how to do things better or different. He is considered one of the top experts in OCD in the area and was highly recommended by my psychologist. He even runs a monthly OCD group session. I don't understand the reviews from people saying Dr. D was "over medicating" them. My experience has been the complete opposite. In fact, I am taking half the medication I used to. What I also like about Dr. D is that he doesn't just rely on meds alone. He asks about your sleep, whether you're exercising, and considers many other environmental factors in your treatment. The provider did not review the data we submitted, then sent us for further testing that we later realized was repeated testing and ultimately we couldn't use any of the evaluation from NYC Psychiatric Associates for the school meeting (in two days) because it has been deemed invalid because the same testing had been completed four months earlier by the school and due to the time frame was invalid. We sent records from many different sources, and it is now our understanding had they actually reviewed that data the testing they recommended wasn't even warranted. We spent a lot of time and energy on these providers. They are kind, but ultimately careless, not thorough, and incompetent. Ultimately the "results" hurt our case with the school who we have already had many struggles with. What they provided us with was literally not usable and we told them many times what we had hoped to accomplish with that documentation. Now they say "we provided the diagnosis" and dismiss the other reasons we went to them. Justifying everything, and it was expensive. My family invested in it! They did not review all of the testing from other providers, and had they done so it is now our impression they should not of recommended further testing because it was unnecessary. My family feels like we were provided poor guidance, our concerns for our daughter were capitalized on for profit. We requested a refund since the documentation could not be used at the school as we had told them we needed multiple times (even sharing concerns it could not be the same testing multiple times) and I have multiple emails in my inbox in which they justify the quality of their work saying "we have her a diagnosis" - then minimize and deny the validity of the concerns we have posed regarding the entire experience, and they are refusing to refund us. They have offered to revise the documentation, but I have already submitted what they originally sent me to the school. They have lost credibility, and so have we. It has already been dismissed by the school as unusable. The school meeting is tomorrow, and the "magic bullet" we thought we had invested in is a ZERO and a major hit to our bank account. The staff seem very sweet well meaning, but results are NIL. Cold competence that gets results is far better than the lip service we received. They seem as though they genuinely care, but at the end of the day the results did not get us what we needed for our daughter. The staff seemed kind, but the competence simply wasn't there. Reviewing available data is important to the process and *standard in this field and it shocked us the way things have transpired. 100% unprofessional. When we had issues, I had to ask many many times before a supervisor ever even got back to me. A literal nightmare. This has now been a back and forth email for over a week with no refund in sight. I'm sick of this situation, and we are already so stressed addressing things with the school this has just been another problem. They knew we had limited resources walking into this, and we feel used and burnt out and like we have less faith in providers of this caliber than we did when we walked into this situation looking for help. I encourage you to strongly question any of the recommendations they give you and "evaluations" they recommend and whether or not that is even warranted. If you have alternate providers that you trust, I would start there instead. They profited off of a vulnerable child and scared family in out experience... and when they made mistakes, they doubled down. Not a place I would invest in to help my child

Doctor Russell Ferstandig saved my life. This is a powerful and true statement. I was 100% convinced I didnt have the strength, courage or will power to stop taking opiates. That all changed September 7, 2014, my 1st meeting with Doctor Russ. He immediately put me at ease, spent well over 2 hours understanding my situation, and discussing his process and care he will provide to safely get me off opiates forever. I have had the symptoms of manic depression since I was 12 years old. Diagnosed with full blown…read morebipolar disorder about 15 years back. Started treatment with meds; finally got a working cocktail about 4 years back. In those 15-years I learned that not everyone woke up in the morning to hear a voice ask "Do I want to live or die today?" The meds evened me out but did not keep my head above water. Still walked around dark, gloomy, angry, annoyed, tired with the occasional curl up in bed for 28-days or desire to start a berserker brawl in a police bar. The peaks were still there just for shorter periods of time. Finally heard about K. Read up and finally took the needle at Ketamine Treatment Center of Princeton. The staff is friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, empathetic, caring, and professional. You have an initial consult with the Doctor who assesses your ability to benefit from the therapy. You then schedule your first treatment. At each session, you first meet with the Doctor who conducts a brief interview to assess your mood and decide on dosage. The Doctor and the Nurse check your vitals and administer the IV. You can ask for the room to be bright or dark, recline the chair, get a blanket, play with your iPad (they have WiFi), listen to music - you get the idea. A piece of advice, do not email, IM or text during the treatment. The IV is started and the treatment begins. The sensations are interesting. Certainly unlike anything I had experienced before; I am not addicted to K but I do not mind going to the appointments. Make sure you let the effects disappear completely before standing up or operating heavy machinery. You are interviewed by the Doctor at the end of the treatment for a before and after comparison. The after is often significantly better than the before. The treatments are cumulative (the effects last longer the more infusions you have) so your appointments space further and further apart. This is different for each person. Using a scale of -10 to +10, where -9 is depression requiring immediate medical intervention and +10 is the aforementioned bar brawl, I lived my life at -4; it was hard, it sucked, and it cost me friends, jobs, and family. After my first 3 K treatments with Drs Levine and Carneval I was around 0. A couple more treatments 3. A couple more treatments +4. I would love to be a chipper peppy cheerleader bubble of sunshine +7 but if I can live the rest of my life at +4 I will be ecstatic. Thanks to KTC Princeton I know that there is relief for some forms of mental illness. If you have long-term serious depression or mania get evaluated by one of the Doctors at KTC Princeton. You will be glad you did if K is right for you.
