Ortega's is a local, family owned and operated full service landscaper. We are so grateful to have found them (originally hired to do a sprinkler valve repair, and then a few months later for a project we wanted to do for years). Ortega is honest and emphasizes open communication to ensure no misunderstandings. His family crew provided high quality results at a fair and reasonable price. I always budget 10% contingency for the inevitable unforeseen issues and the few changes I agreed were fair only added 7% to original estimate. Ortega removed our existing front walkway. It was replaced and extended to the street plus added a front patio / porch in stamped concrete (sandstone base color, dark gray release color, desert slate texture). Ortega also replaced my lawn with commercial grade artificial turf and a "stream bed" of large Noya river rock. I finally achieved my dream of no maintenance in the front! I had other concrete work done 3 years ago by a different contractor. Unfortunately it is already experiencing some issues. I won't explain all the technical details, but Ortega's crew used superior techniques and clearly had more knowledge and experience in durable concrete work. HIRE THIS MAN! If you don't you're making a huge mistake. Not only is he talented he is incredibly kind, hard working and honest. On top of all that him and all his workers were so lovely to my two young kids who were always curious as to what they were up to. We had Ortega do a massive backyard remodel on our .25 of an acre property in Fairfield. He was incredibly knowledgeable about materials and costs. When quoting us he also was kind enough to take in the context of us having kids and providing us not only the most affordable option but what he thought was a better safer option. In total we had him do four main projects for our house. One was a backyard cleanup of what was a hoarders house backyard, traumatizing before photos are attached. The second was installing a 700 sq ft patch of turf. Next was replacing our 50-year-old fence which included a front gate garden gate and adjusting the original fence lines to provide us more backyard space. Lastly he landscaped everything with River Rock & decomposed granite, made us a patio and a spot for our sandbox along with hooking up our dozen fruit trees to a programmable drip system. Some highlights were: Ortega finished our incredibly long and large fence line in almost a day because he wanted it to be safer for the kids. Every time he was scheduled to work he showed up promptly on time if not early. Our last project happened right before the large winter rain and we had to reschedule. He then showed up on the reschedule day even when it was set to rain again so we could have it done in time for a party that weekend. His wonderful smile and positive outlook. I also messaged two other businesses that had also left business cards at our front door. I was in the process of texting the owner of this business when I got a response from someone else with a good quote and willing to set a date to do the work. I politely messaged Ortega to say thank you, but I found someone. His response was one of the most rude and unbusiness-like responses I have ever received! He said, "don't waste my time!" Don't waste your time? You're a business. People are going to contact you. And they are going to contact other businesses and then they will pick the one that they want to go with. I needed to have a water leak fixed quickly as water was starting to flow over the sidewalk in front of my house. A neighbor had recommended Mr. Ortega as they had him complete a similar repair. Mr. Ortega was very easy to contact, and was very good at communicating with me throughout the process. Due to a cancellation he was able to fix the leak earlier than the original date, and he completed the job quickly. There was quite a bit of digging involved, and after the job was done he made sure everything was clean and put back in place so you couldn't even tell there had been an underground repair.
