We lost several lug nuts while traveling on I-40 just outside of Santa Rosa on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The wheel came off just as we were pulling over. We were sure no one would be open but Ortega responded within in 15 min. Victor did a great job of getting our car up on the flatbed (with a wheel missing). George, the owner was able to get the required repair parts the next day and had us back on the road by mid-day on Monday - at a reasonable cost. George transported us back and forth from the hotel where we stayed the night. Saved us from having to have the car transported back to Colorado. Can't say enough good things about Ortega's. Blow out on our 5th wheel. AAA sent Ortega Wrecker to put our spare tire on. Service was prompt and friendly. After spare was put on we headed to Ortega to hopefully purchase a new tire. Ortega did not have our size tire but found one in Moritiary. On our way to Moritary the tire put on by Ortega wrecker driver fell off causing damage to our trailer and a second tire. Tire that fell off hit another vehicle causing damage. Sheriff was called and took a report stating the lug nuts were not tightened appropriately. Needless to say additional claims filed and I hope Ortega Wreckers does the right thing by taking care of all the damages. read more

Nate at Orgega's did a fantastic job!! We had a tire sidewall totally blowout due to a nail on the highway on a Saturday 10 miles outside Santa Rosa NM. I recently paid 200 dollars to put four tires on my car. One of my hubcaps was not put on tight enough and was lost on the road. I called to politely ask if they could replace it with any hubcap that would fit, I did not care if it matched. They said they would not make it right, and wanted to put me on the phone with the worker who changed the tires. I hung up. Awesome and Friendly Wrecker and repair. We lost a waterpump outside Santa Rosa on Memorial Day Weekend (With other desperate travelers). I thought I would have to do the work and find a pump, but when I was picked up they stated they could do the job and even agreed to let me order the part from a retailer in Las Vegas, NM that they sent someone to pickup (saved me $) (We even called a closed part store in town, but they did not have my part) I was a little intimidated by the appearance of the shop( Needs cleaning, busy and had bait and fish supplies), but the whole extended family was present and welcoming and even invited us to share some of the left overs from their meal. They had trouble getting the pump off and due to the busy weekend (only shop working) they coordinated with a local hotel (very clean) to get a extremely discounted price until we could get on the road the next day. Pricing was very fair. They treated every customer fairly, I sat and watched them triage emergencies and get people on the road most of the first day (deer strike, broken hitch, lots of flats, other mechanical) and they were quick to help and did not refuse anyone. On our way back to Indianapolis, from the Final Four in Phoenix, in a rented RV with 9 people (including a 7 and 4 year old), the RV started smelling like it was burning 14 miles outside of Santa Rosa at 10:30 pm in the middle of nowhere desert. AAA gold sent a tow truck from Ortega Wrecker Service, in which we actually had to give them latitude and longitude location so they could find us. It was pitch black. They arrived within 20 minutes but unfortunately, AAA didn't tell them the size of our rv and it wouldn't fit. He stayed with us while he arranged for another tow truck to come. So nice of him. When the new tow truck arrived, the first trucker took 6 of our group to the hotel on his way to another call, so we bundled up our 7 and 4 year old who were fairly freaked out over everything going on. The remaining 3 of us rode in the second two truck, where he found a place to park it, talked to us about things in the area, restaurants, etc. They offered to take to to their place to work on it but we said, oh no, we have to go where the RV rental insurance sends us. Turns out, that place was, in fact, Ortega's, lol. The RV turned out to not be drivable (in fact, they told us we were very lucky we smelled the smoke as the significant issue could have caused our wheel to come totally off the axle). Our option was to get rental cars to go back to Albuquerque to fly home. However, Santa Rosa had no rental cars for miles and miles. The Ortega folks set about helping us find someone. While we waited, we called churches, schools, etc to see if anyone had some kind of large van we could rent. Nothing. One hour later, my son calls and says Ortega has found a person who will drive two of our party to Albuquerque so they can rent large vehicles, drive back to Santa Rosa to get us and drive us back to Albuquerque to fly home. All hail Ortega's wonderful staff. We will forever be grateful for their help, and the great people in Santa Rosa who all went above and beyond to help us. read more

We found this auto repair shop and they proceeded to put Jo on the job. He worked on the issue by having to remove the "dog House" and weld the manifold where it was split. We were headed west on I-40 past Tucumcari when we got a battery light. We started searching for places on google. Pulled off at Newkirk to Route 66 Gas and he directed us to Ortega's. We went to the location next to the TA Travel Center. They weren't opened yet. We called and they said the mechanic would be there soon. Cano diagnosed the alternator. They called and called and found one two hours away. The owner was going to Albuquerque and he stopped to get the alternator. We had a complete tire blowout on I-40 about 20 miles outside of Santa Rosa late on a Saturday afternoon. George and his son came out and not only carried our van to their garage but took us to the hotel at which we would be spending the night. They then opened up early the next day, a Sunday, to look and see if they had a tire that would work. They did not but were able to find a pair of tires in Albuquerque and have them brought out to us. Once they replaced the tires, they balanced them for free and presented us our bill: $50. Our Toyota van blew an oil hose a few hundred feet before a rest area j10 mikes west of Tucumari, NM. We called AAA for help. After AAA spent an hour tripping over themselves, they sent Ortega's out to rescue us. ,Their flatbed truck came very quickly. They willingly towed us to their gas station location 25 miles west of where we broke down. This was around 4:45pm on a Saturday, 15 minutes before their scheduled closing time. They arranged for a mechanic at their other location to stay late to fix our car. They ferried the car there, still on the flatbed, and it was repaired within an hour.
