Toyo, the mechanic at Ray's Truck Service provided us a 'Christmas miracle' the Saturday morning before Christmas 2020 after the door of our motorhome had fallen off the night before. Traveling from Florida, we had a deadline of getting to Boulder Colorado by Sunday night in order to light the longest night of the year at my wife's departed son's grave. Toyo went the extra mile by creating and wielding a temporary hinge to our rig, saving the trip for us, enabling us to achieve our goal. I was on my way from Virginia to California and had just left the truck stop there. Got about 10 miles down the road and all of a sudden was loosing power. Called AAA and was having it towed back to the truck stop. The tow driver told me about Ray's next door so I had him drop me there. Spoke with one of the mechanics about what was going on and he suggested I wait for the owner to get back from a service call. Wasn't a long wait. When he got back I explained what was going on and my situation. He immediately looked at it and checked for codes to find the issue. No issue found. Took it on a road trip and came back, no issues found. He suggested that the fuel pump may be going out but I should start with the fuel filter first. After he researched it a little more we found out the filter is part of the pump! He could have told me to replace the pump and I'd have had to wait until the next day. Which I wouldn't have had a choice! But he said I'd prob be fine if I didn't overdue it in that heat. Was 118 that day. So they checked my oil. Added the two and a half quarts. Charged me nothing close to what the new fuel pump would have cost and sent me on my way. I made it to Cali without any other issues! None at all. Brett is a standup dude. If I'm ever passing through the beers are on me! Sometimes I feel people are only about the all mighty dollar. You and the people at your shop have reminded me that there are still people out there who care about others. Thank you for all your help! read more

We were on our way back from MO, towing a classic race car with our 04 Chevy Silverado...when about 15 miles from Tucumcari we heard a loud pop from the engine compartment and the truck immediately lost power slowing us down to about 40mph. Opening the hood I saw that the cool air intake to the turbo blew off. We limped into Tucumcari and asked where we could get the diesel worked on. The person recommended Ray's Truck Service. Ray immediately to the truck into the bay, he found that there was a dent in the aluminum tube and the rubber boot was also worn out. Ray took the tube off and used a tube bender to straighten it out, fabricated another rubber boot and wrestled with getting it back in for almost 2 hours. When he was done I headed up to pay the bill, I was expecting a several hundred dollar bill and would have thought it was well worth it!. To my surprise Melanie at the front desk said "that will be $110.00 I was so shocked that I repeated $110.00 and for a moment she thought thought I was thinking that was too much... It's a long stretch on highway 40 from Tucumcari to anywhere else..if you have a problem on the road PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TAKE YOUR MOTOR HOME, TRUCK, TRAILER to Ray he is a stand up honest and knowledgable mechanic.... read more

I was staying at a local motel. When I went to leave in the morning my battery was dead. My road service sent someone from a local repair business. He tried to start my car with no luck. He told me that my starter was bad and needed to be replaced. This was a Saturday morning and it would be Tuesday before the repairs could be done. These dude are stand up and honest guys. I was traveling from Florida to California and broke down in their town. Got a $2500 quote for what they believed to be the problem. After staying the night and waiting for parts, I arrived at rays to find out there was less damage than they had originally suspected. They could've easily charged me for the parts and replaced them anyways but instead they saved me $1000 off their original quote. Had a tire blow out right after I left there and they came immediately to put a new tire on without charging me a service call. Not only are they a stand up business. Knowledgeable with excellent value for money! I pulled into a campground with my warning lights on saying I needed oil change and fuel filter change. The camp host recommended Ray's. I called them up at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and they said come on over. They had the parts for my Ford diesel truck and I was out of there in about 30 minutes. I was able to stand and watch and talk to them while they worked, unlike most garages. I've done this work myself and found that it was obvious they knew what they're doing and they'd done it before. Today we had the misfortune of needing new batteries for our motorhome. It never happens close to home but out in the middle of our cross country trip. We stayed at the KOA in town and they referred us to Ray's. Jason helped us! He wowed us with his professionalism and friendly service. He removed the old batteries, called Napa and had them deliver new ones, replaced them. Helped up take off the car from the dolly, while hubby backed up and turned the motorhome around, he pulled the dolly around, set it back up, helped me put the car back on the dolly, set it back up and we were ready to roll. read more

I'm thankful that they had a replacement for a blown tire on my motorhome. However, between Ray's, the towing company, and the insurance company, it took 4 hours to get the tire to the motorhome to replace it even though I was only about 30 miles out of Tucumcari. Add to that, the guy at Ray's wouldn't take my credit card number over the phone...they wanted me to follow the repair truck to town so they could run the card through their machine for the new tire. What a waste of time. In addition I had to sit through a lecture on the phone on why I shouldn't call my insurance company when I have a blowout, but instead call the tire place directly. Well if you've never been in that area, how would you know who to call and isn't that why you have insurance in the first place? I'm sure they're an OK company, they just handled this service call very poorly. read more

Some of the most helpful and nicest people i have met. My fiancée and i were doing a cross country drive from new york to san diego. When we reached new mexico we accidentally hopped a curb and blew a tire as well as ruined the rim. When we arrived at the shop we felt at home. Jason helped us find a hotel and told us everything there is to do in town while they worked on our car.
