The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. HOWEVER, staff at Metro Orthopedics (MOST) were extremely helpful (even though the issue was not theirs; the mistake came from the Surg Center). Both the MOST front desk and the surgery coordinator Dorinda were very supportive. Dorinda had to spend a lot of time on the phone to get my issue resolved and finally made sure that CVS received the prescription. From this experience, and also from previous interactions, I give 5/5 starts to MOST staff.

I was readmitted to the hospital from the ER for 5 days where he was forced (reluctantly) to go back in and wash out the surgery site. That was followed by months of IV and oral antibiotics at home. But the sepic infection returned after the antibiotic therapy ended. Again back to the ER and readmitted for another 5 days with yet another wash out surgery and months of antibiotic therapy (IV + oral) Now 3 years later I find that the fusion did not fuse properly at the base of my spine. It basically came loose at the base of the structure .I have been in extreme pain for almost a year . Next week I go in for a complex fusion revision by a neuro surgeon that will lead to a one year recovery. Now after being paid almost 20,000 dollars he refused my polite request to forgive the balance unpaid by insurance. He reported 2500 to the credit bureau. STAY AWAY from this affable surgeon.

But even then he was incapable of correctly ordering a prescription correctly. 2. As a result of my doctor's mistakes I had to keep calling for 3 days to get anyone's attention in order to get premature refills on the now lifelong medication I would be on. You CANNOT get an immediate answer for ANYTHING. You have to go through a voicemail box to talk to anyone and good luck getting a response the same day. The receptionists that are on the phones are the only ones that you can actually talk to and they are not going to be helping you. When I finally got a response it was claimed that they tried contacting me but couldn't get through. Yeah, sure. 3. They are scam artists. They put a boot on my foot without explaining the costs. In fact, the medical assistant explicitly said that insurance would pay for the boot. They charged my insurance $400 for a boot that costs them about $10-$20 tops. In turn my insurance charged me for most of it. In fact the out of pocket cost for this boot was more than my entire visit. When I called their billing to question it, they lied and said there was nothing they could do. As someone who has managed medical billing departments before, there was plenty that they could do, but they just refused. 4. The apathy of this practice towards their patients has made the last few weeks of my life a living hell. He said it was nothing and prescribed an anti-inflammatory and rest. I took about a month off before I started training again, with no issues. I was training for the Marine Corps Marathon, got up to 15 miles, headed out for my 18 mile run and my knee gave out completely. I went back to see the doctor and he diagnosed me with tendinitis, prescribed PT and rest. I took 6 MONTHS off. I spent those 6 months in PT, following orders, doing exercises, etc. I saw him during a 3 month check up and he said I was making progress. When I was discharged from PT, I got the ok to start running again. For 3 months, I gradually built my running back up and got the ok to run a Half Marathon...the Nike Women's Half. At Mile 8, my knee gave out. I went to see a different doctor (Dr. Annunziata). He called for an MRI (something Dr. Pandarinath had never done) and diagnosed me with IT Band Syndrome...which has the complete opposite symptoms of tendinitis. A runner with a knee injury and you don't take an MRI? Even I questioned that. So, now it's May, I'm almost a year out from an injury that typically has a 6-8 week recovery time, and I'm just now starting to recover because of his misdiagnosis. Oh, and I would say his wait times were decent...except for that one time I waited for 90 minutes in his office and he never showed up.

It has been about 8 months and I was doing great until 2 days ago. I started having pain in the back of my knee and calf. I started taking aspirin to help if it was a clot. The office will not give an appointment until mid October and today is September 10. I will utilize urgent care or go to the ER if it persists. I am concerned about infection. They transferring my telephone call to a different department. I said what seeing his PA but apparently you can't do that. I recommend the surgeon but not the follow up. Ps my primary doctor will fit me in tomorrow unlike my surgeon's office.
