Dr. Siram is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. During my initial consultation he reviewed my medical records and discussed treatment options. His imaging diagnosis convinced me of the importance to move forward with hip replacement surgery. Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. Dr Siram is a gifted doctor. I had experience with him when he was an orthopedic resident. I had TKA with him 8 months ago at Sibley Hospital. Very good experience. My problem is aftercare. It has been about 8 months and I was doing great until 2 days ago. I started having pain in the back of my knee and calf. I started taking aspirin to help if it was a clot. The office will not give an appointment until mid October and today is September 10. I will utilize urgent care or go to the ER if it persists. I am concerned about infection. They transferring my telephone call to a different department. I said what seeing his PA but apparently you can't do that. I recommend the surgeon but not the follow up. Ps my primary doctor will fit me in tomorrow unlike my surgeon's office. read more

Dr. Bobrow is a very good, attentive doctor that cares for patients. That is not what this review is about. The Physical rehab part of this practice is terrible. In particular, the office manager, Jenna Campbell is interested in one thing: charging patients and filling time slots. She has absolutely no concern or continuity of care for patients. She cancels appointments without giving notice and then claims the patient did it. When a PT session that is supposed to last 40 minutes is over in 21 minutes, her answer is "so what do you want me to do about it." I have been to multiple PT centers and this one, without doubt is the worst. read more

I spent half an hour on hold with their billing department only to have the person hang up on me because they couldn't hear me (it seemed like they had a headphone issue on their end), assuming that no one was on the line after one quick "hello". Update: Linda Schuler the office manager is sincere and helped fix a lot of the problems. She genuinely wants to help. Absolutely terrible experience with Dr. Alison Kitays's office. The doctor was average but the administrative staff, in particular a medical assistant named Kelly, were completely unprofessional. Kelly was nasty and rude and completely disinterested in helping patients. While their physical therapists are nice, it's impossible to speak to anyone from the medical team about concerns and get assistance. Strongly recommend trying any other ortho office in the area. read more

Physical therapy for hand: Two of us were seen at the same time by the therapist during each of my two visits. Wait time at one visit was one hour. I was expected to leave after a visit without the therapist bandaging my hand, which clearly showed four post-op incisions. I had to ask for bandaging. One hand therapist who worked on a patient when I was there is a student. The therapist who was with me spent her time during the second visit designing 4 splints for my 2 finger tips. This therapist who was with me during both visits worked with a lot of anxiety and stress. And no experience. read more

Office phones close 12-1 for lunch. There's a garage attached to the building, and 2-hour unmetered street parking if you feel ambitious. Handicap doors to lobby and office. Floor bathroom keys at front desk. Do as much paperwork in advance as you can, there's a lot of it even if you're only visiting for consult. If you opt to bill your copay, there's a $10 administrative fee added on. Each doctor seems to have an assigned billing person so if they're not around, good luck paying by phone. Staff were reasonably polite and somewhat helpful: check-in marked form sections I could skip, pleasant efficiency with radiology tech, but checkout couldn't be bothered to determine my copay requirements. I waited half an hour before I was given an exam room, and I overheard that another patient waited twice as long. Took my X-rays and burned them onto CD in very little time. Friendly assistant unobtrusively observed. Dr. Mustafa Haque was thorough in his explanations, fielded all my questions, and his confident demeanor and phrasing put me at ease. He's a busy dude, so scheduling appointments can be a little tricky. He reassuringly recommended a physical therapist for my geographic convenience, though their average clientiele demographic seemed older. Even before discovering his laudable credentials and work history, after my first visit I trust him with future orthopedic hand care. read more

Horrible VERY RUDE receptionist named ROXANNE that hung up on me AFTER CANCELING AN APPT I HAD FOR 3 weeks when I tried to reschedule they want me to wait another 2 weeks for a torn ligament in my thumb, can you work without a thumb for 5 weeks and wait another 2 weeks?!? Sure no problem, I'm not injured and I would like you to be rude to me. I also did meet with doctor Haque 2 times, less then 5 min spent each time and no answers on my thumb, everything is a waiting game. @ Samantha v- I too had an appointment for this week and was rescheduled for mid January. I was clearly told that Dr. Haque's father passed away and needed to take time off to make arrangements. Which I completely understood. This is a great practice with amazing doctors. I have had 2 surgeries with 2 different doctors including Dr. Haque. I'm an Army of Veteran of 30 years and both my knees were rating as service connected injuries (paratrooper). The left knee was far worse than the right so I had a partial arthroplasty. The procedure was done in April 2018 by Dr.Siram. Needless to say my post ops visit was a waste of time as I only saw Dr. Siram one time and he did not even look at my knee, this was before I told him something was wrong. As a veteran I would not recommend him to anyone. Fast forward, I was just recently diagnosed with a failed arthroplasty and correction needs to take place. I have put Summit Ortho on notice with VA Patient Experience and I look forward to working with a surgeon that truly cares about veterans and take post ops more serious than this office did. Dr Bernstein was professional and courteous. I pre filled the paperwork and brought it to the office before my appointment. I was 5 minutes early and seen exactly on time. The doctor was in the room within 3 minutes. He recommended x-Rays which were taken on site, within minutes. We analyzed the X-rays on the computer screen in the patient room to determine the next steps toward diagnosis and recovery. Penthouse office. Nice staff, easy parking and good doctors. My 3 star rating is a reflection of the single star I would give for office management policy and the 4 stars I would give Dr. Haque. I initially went to see Dr. Haque because two of my fingers were extremely swollen. He was very quickly able to identify the source of the problem and gave me cortisone shots in the fingers...and the swelling went away within a few days. While there I discussed my chronic shoulder pain and he recommended I get MRIs of both shoulders and come back. I had the MRIs and the diagnosis wasn't good and his recommendation was shoulder replacement and he referred me to someone who performs them. Since I had been managing the pain and was functioning fairly well, given the situation..and had also had a horrible experience with the repair of the other shoulder, I wasn't anxious to have a replacement. As the result of a few activities and a fall, my shoulder pain became unmanageable and I decided to try some alternative treatment. I had lost track of the MRI reports and needed copies to take to the doctor, as I had luckily been fit in for an appointment early the next morning. I called the office to have the report faxed or emailed and was told the only way to get my report was by sending an email to Summit's medical records department. I did that and in the meantime tried to call the MRI center. Summit's record department responded that it would take 4 weeks to get my report and that if I wanted to pay $40 it could be sent faster. I was able to call the MRI office the next morning form the new doctor office and they faxed it in 5 minutes at no charge. I find it absolutely outrageous that Summit feels the need to charge patients for their records...especially when the records in question amounted to 4 pages. read more

I had not even set foot in the office when I got a sample of the appalling lack of professionalism and common sense on the part of the administrative staff. I called to schedule an appointment to have my broken foot looked at. The injury was work related and when I advised the woman on the phone of this, she refused to schedule an appointment until I was able to provide a claim number. This promised to add complications and delays to the process and I was eager to set an appointment right away. So I told her that I would pay out of pocket and asked her to schedule an appointment. Shen then asked me to hold. I listened to recorded messages repeatedly tell me that someone would be with me momentarily. After over fifteen minutes a different women came on the line and treated me like I was a fresh caller. When I complained about the time I had spent on hold, she complained about being short staffed and being one of only two there. Her tone of voice showed no empathy and expressed no regret whatsoever. I then asked her if my experience was consistent with the standards of professionalism and patient care which had been established for that practice. Her response began "It happens sometimes..." I stopped listening as she went on letting me know that she considered me in the wrong. Because her reply was totally unresponsive to the "yes or no" question which I had asked, when she was done with her rant, I said "Did you not understand my question?" To which she replied, "Did you not understand what you were just told?" Excuse me. Did I really just hear that? I called her out on her lack of professionalism at which point she hung up on me. Thus proving me right. I called back and spoke with another woman and told her what happened. Again I received no expression of regret or empathy. She identified the other woman as "Tenisha." When I told her that I wanted to schedule an appointment she again wanted me to hold because she had another caller ahead of me. I protested that, as I had already held for an excess of 15 minutes and then been hung up up on , by rights, I should have had priority. She wasn't having any of that. She said that my call would "be taken in turn." "It's only fair," she said. After another lengthy hold, she came back on and took my appointment. I then asked to leave a message for the office manager and was transferred to voicemail. In my message I stated that I had concerns about the treatment I had just received and asked for a return call. I am still awaiting that call. It appears that there are in fact no standards of professionalism in place at Summit Orthopedic. If the office manager is not interested in instituting or maintaining them, is not concerned enough about a complaint regarding a totally mishandled phone call, a negative patient experience, to respond promptly, it is no surprise her staff sees no reason to perform in a manner appropriate for a medical office. How pathetic. Can the doctors be oblivious to what clearly boils down to poor management? My experience does not bode well for those who seek care there. Who knows what horrors the medical staff might have in store. The above one-star rating should be preceeded by a minus sign. Yelp will not accept a no star review. Update: Two days have passed. Still no return call from office manager. Can only conclude that she does not take her responsibilities seriously. Or perhaps, like so many in our labor force, she has no concept of the meaning of the word professionalism. When you hire from the bottom of the barrel and then let that person do your hiring, you are probably getting what you are paying for, which isn't much. I did have an appointment there this morning and, as I found an orthopedist with a clearly competent staff, I did not keep the appointment. Since I did not receive the basic courtesy of a return phone call from their mismanager, I saw no reason to do the courtesy of calling to cancel. read more

This review is about the office administration. I paid my $40 co-pay in cash for two pre-surgery visits. On a follow-up visit post surgery I was told I owed $80. I distinctly remembered paying but I foolishly thought I might be mistaken and gave them my credit card, after they could find no record of my payments. When I got home I found one of the co-pay receipts, photographed it, and sent it to one of the office staff. (I could not find the second receipt -- I probably tossed it.) When I received my credit card statement, there was no credit. I phoned again and they had no memory of this and promised to look into it again. They owe me $80 and I am very annoyed. read more
