Beware don't let Leslie force you into getting Invisalign, when you're wanting to get braces. I wanted braces because I wouldn't be a good candidate for Invisalign. I just knew I would be taking off the Invisalign when the pain was intolerable. I've had braces before. Not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. With Invisalign, you're able to take on and off. Braces are more permanent during your treatment . Leslie kept insisting that I should get Invisalign after i kept mentioning that I wanted braces several times for the above reason. I was very young and still ended up with something I didn't want - Invisalign. I then struggled during my treatment. A treatment that should've taken 2 year but instead took 4 years. I could also tell the orthodontist was getting frustrated because I wasn't always on time on my trays. So please stop persuading people in getting something they don't want. It only makes things harder for the people around you. However great job to Dr Drew and Dr Randolph , my teeth look good! read more

Highly recommend OrthoAlexander for ortho work! They are experienced, attentive, meticulous, yet highly efficient. I completed my 20 months Invisalign treatment with Dr. Drew Alexander and Dr. Alexander a few months ago and incredibly happy with the result. I looked through multiple ortho dentists' websites in La Jolla and was very impressed with both Dr. Alexanders' education and resume. It was my first time doing ortho and Dr. Drew and Jessica were very thorough explaining the process at the beginning of the treatment. During my treatment, I would do my follow up visit every 6 weeks. Appointment scheduling has always been easy and I have never had to wait for longer than 10min before getting seeing by the doctor. I also want to give a special shout out to Leslie at the front desk, who is always so pleasant and sweet. She went above and beyond and helped me dealing with the insurance company about my dental insurance since I had switched insurance company mid- treatment. There's just soo much that I can say to recommend seeking treatment with OrthoAlex. I was initially hesitant to even get braces in fear of the costs, but then the lovely and sweet Jessica informed me that they had Invisalign as an option, and that they had payment options to fit my budget. With everything going on and the prices of gas and good skyrocketing, this was perfect! Both of their offices are well kept, and the environment and people are just amazing! I have to say that this was life changing. Not only did they fix my teeth, that gave me a smile. And that in turn boosted my confidence to heights that I never thought possible. And not only that but since I had invested in my teeth, it also helped me quit smoking since I wanted nothing more than a beautiful smile. Dr. Alexander was always gentle when handling my mouth (which was a big concern since I had very sensitive teeth after years of poor decisions). He was well knowledge that when I first started he could tell that I wasn't always using my dental bands and would remind me in a way that he knew that I lied but pretended to believe me and just kept reminding me until I realized the importance. Definitely a great way to encourage kids to do so. We would also always trade stories about our wrestling/Jiu Jitsu days while we would complete his routine checkup on me. He's the kind of man that you know was an excellent dad and role model. Dr. Drew is just like his dad. Knowledgeable even for his age and always went through great lengths to make sure that my aligners were on point and that my treatment would progress on time and with zero issues. After every checkout Dr. Drew made sure that there's no issues nor concerns with the new set of trays and had in and out the door ready to tackle my busy schedule. I think that the ladies would see him as that dreamy orthodontist that they'd want work on them. He's definitely a really chill guy. Leslie was one of the best! Always made sure that they could squeeze me in despite my hectic schedule. They knew that my work life was busy but had no idea what my personal life was like but always made sure that they had time to take me in, even if it was a tad bit out of the way for them. After she found out that I was taking care of my terminally ill mom, she would always ask how she's doing and how we're keeping up. That kind of support mid day would help anyone get through their day. Lee was definitely one hell of a RDA. I think my treatment went as well as it did because of his sharp eye. I wouldn't know that a bracket would be out, and I would always assume that it's because I would have new aligners and they just need to be bit on a bit harder and longer to settle. But Lee always found the flaws and made sure that every time I left the office my aligners were set properly. His skill in removing the remainder of the broken bracket and replacing it was definitely top notch! Probably one of the most valuable assets that they have there. And it was always dope hearing about his sons games win or lose. By the way that he always spoke about his son you can tell that he's really loving and proud. Emily was just a great as Lee every time that she took over. Very gentle to the touch. She would entertain me by telling me about her tattoos and what they stood for. It was a shame that most of my scheduling was when she wasn't available. But it's okay because their team was just soo confident that any member could replace the other and my treatment would still have the same outcome. Amazing! I'm definitely going to miss seeing the lovely jessica and hearing what new hikes and adventures that she's going to get into next. I'll always remember that she was the one that encouraged me to get my teeth fixed, and it definitely changed my life. I'll forever be grateful. Her smile was always welcoming. I even remember telling her that I liked her smile and she was like, "I have Invisalign too! Look!" Jennessa was fairly new to the office (I assume) by the time that my treatment was finished. She took the final mold for my post treatment retainers and once they came back they fitted perfectly! Definitely showed the quality of skill that Dr. Alexander looks for when building his team. I have had a long journey with braces. I started at another doctors practice and had them on for two years just to be told I have to get 6 teeth removed and 2 more years of braces. On my second round of braces I developed an underbite (not something you are supposed to have and something I never had before) and got a second opinion. Dr. Alexander was able to not only finish helping me straighten my teeth in a much better time frame than my original orthodontist, but also fixed my underbite very quickly. I had an amazing experience with OrthoAlexander. One of my front teeth is missing genetically and I have to wear a retainer with a fake tooth (flipper) in it until I am ready to get an implant. I do not live in San Diego, but am staying here for the summer. My second week in San Diego, my fake tooth broke off of my retainer while I was eating. I scrambled to call orthodontists in town to find someone able to help me as soon as possible. I left a voicemail for them at 9:00pm on a weekday and OrthoAlexander called me back at 8:00am the next day. They were the fastest ones to get back to me, rushed the readiness of my retainer (usually takes about two weeks, they got it for me in two days), and helped me out with the price of the retainer. After several negative experiences with Orthodontists and dentists I started to take my girls to my dentist. My daughters were thumb suckers and have different issues each with their teeth. Several Orthodontists told us we had to pull teeth in each of my kids and start braces right away. Their explanations were asinine and so I went to get opinions from Orthodontists referred by my dentist instead of the high rated yelp orthodontists who help you incur extra costs. The 2 referrals we received agreed not to pull and to wait and one was Dr. Alexander. Why do you need to start the process so early and incur pain, suffering and extra costs? My daughters picked Dr Alexander because he was so nice and answered any questions they had. Everything in regards to my daughters braces was all laid out in the appointment when we decided to go with Dr Alexander. BTW there's nothing wrong with going to see Dr. Alexander to get an opinion and potentially wait till the child's teeth come all the way in. I'm a TV news reporter for a local station in San Diego. I first went to Dr. Alexander when I was 10 years old for braces and retainers. I still wear my retainers to this day which have lasted 10 plus years. I went to him recently to get new retainers and he's the only orthodontist I've met in the country that makes retainers that can move shifted teeth without doing something drastic like jaw surgery or shaving your teeth down. Dr. Alexander is friendly, personable and an expert in the field. My smile is one of my favorite features that I'm most proud to show off and it's all thanks to Dr. Alexander. I do not recommend Dr. Alexander. My daughter and I went to him and in both cases we were left disappointed. First of all, you can't understand a word he says in the 5 minute time you will have him. He does not address concerns when they are voiced. To make a long story short, I went with concern with one tooth that was not aligned well and he ruined the alignment of 3 teeth in his attempt to fix that one tooth! I had braces when I was in middle school, and ended up losing my retainer when I went off to college. I felt super embarrassed about my crooked lower teeth. They were kind enough to make me a fixed retainer on my bottom teeth and a clear retainer that went over the top to help prevent myself from grinding my teeth. Words can't do the OrthoAlexander practice justice. Getting adult braces is no one's first choice, but with 15 years of shifting teeth (since having had braces off in middle school) it was time to straighten up. I did my due diligence and found the top 3 orthodontists within San Diego county and visited each of them for an assessment appointment. Upon entering the OrthoAlexander Carmel Valley office it was game over, I had found my dream orthodontist experience. Every visit begins with the ever so bright and genuine ladies up front, Jess and Leslie. Then you make your way to the chairs where you are cheerfully greeted and carefully attended to by the resident teeth magicians, Jessalynn and Lee, as they prep you for your dental assessment upon each visit. Dr. Alexander and his son, Dr. Drew, make an extraordinary duo and lead an unmatched teeth team. I could not recommend this ortho office more. Dr. Alexander is always treating us with a bright smile, too bad he could only spend 5 minutes or so on each patient without counting the wait time. He definitely has the ability of multitasking! Leslie is also friendly. But when it comes to billing, it's a serious business! We were diligently being billed to our insurance company, i.e. double charged on one visit or billed on a date we did not actually visit, etc. A word of advice, just make sure you check with your billing statement. read more

I called almost every orthodontist in San Diego County because I wanted to get this Invisalign thing right, and went with OrthoAlexander because they are the only orthodontist in the county that instantly offered me a student discount without me having to even ask. They are also the only orthodontist in the county to my knowledge that used a really easy Dental Monitoring system which allows you to scan the teeth from afar which would have come in handy as I was planning to possibly transfer to an out-of-state university. have been doing Invisalign for 9 or so months now and my teeth are completely different than how they were before. Everyone in the office is extremely friendly and greets me with a smile, making appointments is easy and flexible, and if you ask they will tape additional elastics/etc. to their door so you can come get them on your own time and without the risk of COVID. I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Alexander and his whole office staff!! My daughters have been patients for many years, and we always felt very welcome and comfortable in his office. The professionalism and the personalities of everyone there made going to the orthodontist kind of fun! From day one with having to resolve tongue thrusting issues and palate expansion to the last day of braces, I always have felt very confident in the treatment plan. The office staff is professional and very nice. Dr. Alexander picks the treatment that is best for the client and that will result in the best smile, even if it may take longer or is a more complicated treatment. He was always really nice and knew all of his patients names when they walked through the door. Every time I went for an adjustment, he would ask how everything was going and really cared about me and my treatment. I had a very complicated case that took a lot of work and time, but in the end I am thrilled with my smile and my choice to go with Dr. Alexander. The staff was always nice and tried to make a personal connection. Leslie always had a smile and tried to accommodate my schedule. I am very glad that I chose Dr. Alexander and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get a beautiful smile. I don't really understand the negative comments as I never felt as though Leslie or the rest of the staff were unprofessional or rude. what a waste of $5000 for my invisalign therapy........had to pay almost $200 extra for x-rays not covered in the 5000 fee, payed another xtra 500 for losing my tray(my fault which i understand)....but the cheap plastic retainer i was expected to wear for a year cracked just after almost 3 months and was expected to pay another $250 to get a new one....this is what i hear when i call..." either u can wear the cracked one or pay $250 to get a new one"......i was so pissed.....should have read the carmel valley office reviews before going here and wasting my hard earned money!!!!! i usually don't write reviews, but i figured i would save someone from wasting their money, since there is no concern about patient care.......u pay what they say when they say and they will provide service....what a shame!!!! read more
